The back is also one of my favorite visual queues of this car. Just picked one up w/ 18K miles- most of the capabilities and more room, but MUCH cheaper than an All-Road (except ground clearance). People always ask "what is it?". Hopefully it holds up ~as well as the '04 A6 S-Line sedan it replaces - which now has 180K miles and still running strong although it's had it's issues as well.
Daytona says what?! Good one! Unfortunately our high school days are over, Cole is at UMD and Jake is at GWU. As for the basketball comment, we are more track people ;) Thanks for watching, have a good week.
shftdwn1 we have improved the quality of our videos a lot over the past year. Most of our first videos were pretty messy, as you observed, because they were filmed right after track practice and well we certainly are not princesses... thanks for watching and your feedback, have a great week, and we will continue to improve our videos over the years to come :)
great video, as somone thats younger looking into purchasing one of these it was nice to see someone pre mid life crisis reviewing it. Fantastic video guys!
Miguel Angel Medina Rise yes it is very impressive! We loved this vehicle and wagons in general, we hope to review more in the future. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching! Have a great week! -Jake
It’s friggin awesome! Sometimes I sit in the back when it’s raining and look out the massive roof. We LOVE our TourX. Coolest family *car* out there costing under $70,000.
All I can say is that it looks fine until a closer look reveals the fake tail pipe ends. The integration of the lights is super. Another feature is that you can set the height for the liftgate to open which is helpfull for short folks who have trouble reaching the button to close it, or use the remote or the button inside the car. There is soo much cargo space and a control to drop the rear seats down without the fumbling around of many cars. Needless to say I really love this model. Thanks for the review of a lessor known model which is a real sleeper and needs to be promoted. GM at its best!
Haha good one! While Cole is below the average height of an average U.S male he is in-fact old enough to drive. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
The most underrated car sold by the wrong brand. The 3-shield emblem probably killed the car more than the wagon aspect of it. The tourx had a lot of what I wanted in a next car, but crappy seats in the low/mid trims, lack of a manual, and the buick badge (little to no aftermarket) killed the car in its tracks for me. I wanted more edge/feel from my wagon and sought out the VW Alltrack. Ended up with a WRX. 2018s were still available 3/4 through 2019 and were going for crazy money off, but not enough to sway me. Great car, just not my flavor.
K03sport very interesting! Yes this car is definitely underrated, and we are all big fans here at Gas Guzzlers but that badge is definitely a problem for many people. You certainly bring up a good point regarding aftermarket, I never thought about that. Congrats on the purchase of the WRX, thanks for watching and thanks for your comment. Have a great week! -Jake
Same situation as you. I was *this* close to putting a deposit down on a 2021 WRX Premium at MSRP but hesitated and it sold. I really need a wagon though since I have a large breed dog and a kid. I really wish Subaru still made a WRX hatchback... Like you, I was also originally steering towards a Golf Alltrack. I test drove one a few weeks ago and was totally underwhelmed... May end up getting an older (2017-2018) A4 Allroad instead -- 250 HP, AWD, very nice interior, no stupid Buick branding and awful resale potential, and looks pretty sporty.
I know I gave the end somewhat of a hard time but overall I still love the looks of this. Personally I think this wagon is better looking then the Volvo V series (and that is saying a lot). It manages to blend multiple eras of design and frankly is stunning to look at for a production family car. Thanks for your comment Mr.Rash and hope you liked the video :) -Jake
For sure. I bought a 2018 Outback last year and the next day I saw my first pic of the Tourx. The deep discounts on them right now have me tempted to trade in my one year old Subie. I finally test drove one yesterday and I’m having a hard time saying no to 25% off msrp
@@stevenjamesrash Both of those are great choices but I really like the high end Essence, especially with most of the options and packages, still below the Outback which is not overpriced either.
Great review guys! A few questions: was that a BLACK or BLUE tourX? Also, I see GM is offering large rebates now that bring of an Essence the price down to $33K-ish. At $33K, is this a good car? Some reviews make the interior seem sub-par even on a $35K car?
Hi Tim, sorry for the late response. Thanks for watching, to answer your first question this was a blue tourx. To answer your second, we found the interior to be very appropriate for this price. While there is some piano black and hard touch plastics those are pretty much industry standard at this price. While some reviewers may have been dissapointed I found it on par or exceeding this price point, the problem is that it is hard to compare this vehicle because there are not many other vehicles in this class of mid ranged station wagons. Thanks for your comment and have a great week!
@@GasGuzzlers The car is in a class by itself. It is just short of a sportwagon to provide comfort for the US market. It is made in the Opel factory in Germany and is a European wagon made just a bit more for the US market. Here in the south I would think twice before I paid the money for such a large sunroof because of the hot summers. It is available with 2 levels of driver assist comparable to luxury SUV's but for $10k less, before dealer incentive. The car, eh wagon is a joy to drive with enough ground clearance without getting into the SUV category and plenty of pep yet economical with the turbo 4 cylinder, although premium fuel is recommended for the published specs. I am going not only for the high end Essence but with most of the accessories and options. Don't let the price scare you, there are great deals to be had.
@@GasGuzzlers I know, dressing down was a technique to make the interior of the Buick look better by comparison. You couldn't have planned it better. After all, it isn't being sold as a luxury car. When you review the XT6 I guess you will need to upgrade to a tuxedo in a matching color.
I hate that they decreased approach and departure angles with useless trim. A little bit of tweaking could have made it more driveway friendly. It is a beautiful wagon but it’s limited by its low stance. They should give this thing the subaru “crosstrek” treatment.
part of the beauty of it is that it is a station wagon rather than an SUV. They have stayed out of the Audi BMW Cadillac market by limiting the chrome and wood grain but keeping functionality and a well thought out interior.
It’s not meant for off roading. The lower ride height makes it handle like a normal car (which I wouldn’t want to take down a dirt or gravel road). The black trim doesn’t look as good but it has actually prevented some scrapes & dings on our TourX.

Is this being shot in between geometry class and JV basketball practice?

I saw this in Germany as the Opel insignia.
I picked up an 18 Essence for $30 out the door after it sat for a year
Randy Tantum thats a steal! Congrats on the purchase, it really is a cool car!
Im looking for a deal like that as well. Was it unsold and new or did it have some miles on the odometer?
No miles brand new
I agree with Cory. The back looks DOPE.

This would be at the top of my list if I was looking for a "wagon" but the Flex does have it's charms :)
The back is literally the best looking part of it
Is not a Buick, is a German Opel Insignia.
Is Cole old enough to be behind the wheel?

@3:00 love how lowww this car sits.
How does the shift knob ever get dusty? Who cares if it’s piano black? You use it every day, it will never get dusty. That’s just an odd comment.
How refreshing to have younger guys do the reviewing. So easy to watch.
Nice car Buick.
They discontinued this car what a shame I didn't even know it existed

Agreed. There’s a lot more features on the market in this price range.
Over priced ? What it should be 5 bux
