Jak: I'M GONNA KILL PRAXIS!
[spoilers] You know, one thing I always thought about Praxis's and Damas relationship is that prior to Praxis's betrayal, Praxis was to Damas, what Erol was to Praxis. Praxis was no doubt the grand commander of the Krimzon Gaurd, and the head of the militarial affairs within the city. I also wouldn't doubt Veiger was head of the internal and civil affairs (Kinda like a Prime Minister?). Regardless, I imagine under Damas, Praxis and Veiger gained way too much power, and the straw on the camals back was the failed attack on the Metalhead nest, which was ordered by Damas no doubt. With Praxis nearly being killed in the event, Praxis initiated a coup and removed Damas, and well, that lead to the slow deterioration of Haven City. Though Damas may not have been a particularly wise King (when it came to those whom he appointed under him, cause Praxis alone is a good example at his inability to appoint wise and loyal men to high positions). He was certainly able to understand that as long as the city walls stood, the city would be safe. Thus he would never come up with some ridiculous plan of feeding the metal heads eco, which could be used to power the city walls. Praxis however was growing impatient, and wanted decisive victories. Thus convuluted schemes were developed under his administration. That's all just a theory of course.
Makes sense for the most part. However, I do have one contending idea. I think it was Praxis who ordered, and led, the assault on the nest. I agree that Praxis would have wanted a decisive military victory, while Damas concluded that the best course of action was to hold the city and power the walls to keep the leader out, and achieve victory through attrition when the metal heads eventually ran out of eco. But Praxis' impatience ran out, and using the KG, he led a coup that ousted Damas. After, he led an assault on the nest, promising victory for Haven City, only to be brutally beaten back and nearly killed. The losses weakened the City defenders, and the metal heads were able to break through the old barrier, resulting in the mass slaughter that Torn mentioned. This is what led, as you said, to the deterioration of the City, while Praxis, too damn proud to admit Damas had the right idea, decided to attempt to trick the metal heads, and eventually feed them a mega-nuke meant to wipe them out, without realizing Haven would be caught in the blast.
“I sometimes feel so very on my nose gibberish gibberish SO DRRYYYYYYYY... ya know what the trouble with u krew uv got no vision this place could be a real swinging joint”
Many regard it as the worse ironically. It isn't a bad game in general but it's too difficult for the wrong reasons. Still a great game I will agree with you on that
+Daxtery Toon (Cypher) I think Jak 2 and 3 are really similar in terms of the missions and side quests you can do. Jak 2 was just harder for no good reason. It was much more frustrating to play IMO also Jak 3 has more exciting perks, such as Light Jak and 2 additional gun mods per colour.
Brian Christian Oh yeah I remember this. Like in certain races, time trials etc. you had to do the entire mission in one attempt in Jak 2. In Jak 3, if you made it like halfway then it would save your progress. Jak 3 was just as hard I'd say, but Jak 2 was much more unforgiving whenever you died/failed. Plus I'll always enjoy Jak 3 more because of the extra gun modes, Light Jak, and the desert cars. There's just more to do so it's more enjoyable.
+Daxtery [C.] Toon Jak II had the best narrative in the series, but gameplaywise it's rightfully considered the black sheep in the series. *WAY* too difficult for all the wrong reasons

Jak 3 had all the guns, enemies, dark n white eco, cars and cool quests.. Jak II had waaay harder quests and wasn’t as developed (obviously) as its follow up.. I personally prefer Jak 3 because of the big diversity and interesting storyline. Still, very few cutscenes beats the one when the mad dark eco freak goes mental on Kor in the end of Jak II 😜🔥
@Connor Dean Indeed. I remember I used to love taking the jumping car (can’t recall the name of it) and go to the big ramps/cliff jumps in the desert and fly about .. was ace
Samos knew everything pay attention to the beginning 1:38 “so this is how it happens” and when he said “find yourself jak” this was all meant to be and me re watching this as an adult I finally realized that the world got messed up because they open the rift and let the dark echo (metal heads) throgh thus pushing them into the future and altering the timeline
Many people said that Daxter wasn't needed or that they dropped his name from the title. But, imo, they need him. He's the wise-cracking sidekick and he's so much better in this game and Jak 3 than 1
Dax is funny in general, but that contract scene aside, I particularly enjoy when he gets Jak out of captivity and makes him break his silence by declaring revenge on the dictator responsible for the Dark Eco experiments on him.
Jak 2 was the best game I've ever played together in my childhood with other games as Jak 1, Jak 3 and Jak X. 😁👍Love the cutscenes 7:34 when Jak and Daxter got the flag and tower started to collapse and most of all: 9:26 when Daxter rides through the pipe. 😂😂😂 Hahaha Those scenes made laugh. And the most memorable is 39:40 in this game is when Jak says to Daxter: We're in the future, Dax. This horrible place is our world.
***** I was scared about the whole way through the beginning. Like, we just jumped from the whole platforming gig to being introduced to such a dark, unhappy place. I was surprised as hell when Jak first spoke. I wasn't scared, but like OMG HE JUST SPOKE!!! And I remember loving this game as a kid. Lol My big brother never liked the first Jak, but he suddenly got interested with this Jak once he saw the open world gameplay. He even played through the third one and beat it.
i wonder when someone grows a pair and makes a Zelda game where Link talks. i bet that would sell like mad, even if just bcoz people want to experience it themselves, so they can bash it with some justification.
Finnish Person That's the thing, Link is never supposed to speak. If he did then it wouldn't be a Zelda game. He did talk in the cd-I games, but everyone knows those games suck.
7:34 Probably the saddest cutscene in the entire franchise or arguably the entire 6th generation of consoles, a symbolism of the beggining of the LONG drought of 3D platformers.
Y'know, I gotta say. I would -love- an actual OST for this game. Not just the music for game levels, but the music you hear exclusively in cutscenes. Most of it is -really- good stuff, and there's no where anybody can find the standalone music in these scenes.
Like you wouldn't be mad after being experimented on for 2 years, you want unneeded edgy garbage? Look at that black and red hedgehog from the sonic series
Isa the Rebel All because he says damn a lot and skates around like one of the jet set radio characters doesn't really make him a better character than anyone, especially after adventure 2 just becoming fanservice the character.
Okay if anyone paid attention to 20:28 crew said " Other wise they would put the true leader on throne where ever that little brat is " was he talking about Damos since Damos used to be the ruler of Haven City.
Black Wolf he was talking for the kid!! (young jak)!! Damos was already banished to the wasteland!! baron took him and then the underground took him to their safety!! young samos was his protector since in the future became his father-in-law!!
You know, Jak's quote on quote "treatments" made him go nuts and broke out of prison, with him chain down to the resting chair. I can't imagine what other ways did Jak get dark eco into his body (since I read a dark fanfic of Jak and Daxter; Captive Voice by Nashidesei). Like an IV shot, an "over-head shower," and different combination of color eco, and some other ways.
Omg never had I laughed sooo hard at 28:05 when Daxter was makin those faces while the lights kept going around how torn got sooo mad I cracked up sooo hard hahahaha I swear smokin a blunt and drownin yourself in your childhood memories is the best
Yeah well dosen it's happened if you start it to tease/insult and say unkindly words to other people's images and hurt other people emotion and what make you feel/felt that way?
Kor's a fucking asshole in this game. He tricks us into practically killing the city, overthrowing the Baron (which wasn't much of a trick since everyone wanted him gone), abducting and confusing a little kid, and made Vin kill himself! He is a true villain and what's better is that no one ever compared him to the brief image of the actual Metal Head Leader in the beginning of the game so no one ever guessed he was the evil one.
Cherri Marie Holder Yes, but the reason Jak was the only one exiled was because of his dark abilities. Torn had no idea and he wasn't the main concern plus he was already named Commander of the Krimzon Guard by Ashelin. The council knew that Torn had helped Kor but they also knew he didn't know Kor was the Metal Head Leader; no one knew. Jak didn't know either, but since he allied himself with two villains (Kor and Krew) which he had no idea were the actual enemies at the time AND had powers that were fueled by Dark Eco (which Metal Heads needed to survive), he was the target for a majority of the criticism as well as the blame.
I just watched the side game Daxter and you do see Kor in a transmission in both states but you kinda have to play the game to know where it fits, but in this game Kor does give hints of who he really is, but you don't really notice it because you think he is a good guys. Haha
This game is still funny and a joy to play! The comedy in it doesn’t age because it’s not any joke that references the time the game was developed. I can’t think of any game that has aged as well as this one in that regard.
23:41 We the racers hereby agree to give Krew all proceeds from race earnings, endorsement fees, broadcast royalties, syndication residuals, vehicle sponsorships, mall appearance fees, collectible card assets, fast-food tie-ins, use of likeness rights, talk show deals, clothing lines, all print rights including book, novella, comic, pamphlet, tickertape, neon sign, and bathroom graffiti designs, toy rights, shoe lines, mood rings, game rights, *GAME RIGHTS?!* vitamin endorsements, city kickbacks, movie deals, and of course all death and dismemberment accident insurance claims.
Let me just tell you that even though I hadn't play Jak II, this game is awesome and for someone who knows about Jak and Daxter and played the first game of the series and played some Jak III, that's saying something. I just want to say that in the game, Daxter was hilarious especially at the pumping station when he was trying to turn the wheel to get the water back to the city. And when he went traveling through the pipes, I couldn't stop laughing at that scene since Daxter has and always will be the hero, sidekick, and comic relief he is. Plus kid Jak was such an adorable little boy in Jak II and I wish I had a darling little guy like him who would soon grow to be a badass hero who takes on the villains who want world domination or global devastation and armageddon. Jak and Daxter rule!
That moment when you realize he also did the voice for Dr. Neo Cortex. Another power hungry bastard who experimented on living things in order to create a superweapon army.
For those of you who remember this game being one of the hardest on the PS2 for a while, did you know this was the result of people complaining? People liked Jak & Daxter but bitched about it being too easy so what did NaughtyDog do? They created Jak 2 in response and many people actually had trouble in both the Drill Platform Eco Ship level and Metal Kor's boss fight to the point where the game on average took more than a week to beat until they found tricks to make the levels easier. Here are some tricks you may not know for the series: - the Slums' Seal piece Krimzon Guard survival run can be beat in fifteen seconds if you have talent with your jetboard - you can get up top the cliff where Metal Kor shot you down and basically shoot from there with no damage taken (takes two minutes tops to kill Kor) - use only the peace maker in Errol's boss fight (it saves you time and causes more destruction) - memorize the Krimzon Guard attack wave spawn locations and order of appearance in the Drill Platform because that's how many of you probably died (quick fire as soon as they spawn, don't wait until they're vulnerable) - you can cut across some areas of the race track in Jak 3, making the race challenges much less of a hassle - use your Dark Jak powers only during certain moments (i.e protecting Ashelin at the Pumping Station, the Metal Hose Head group attack in the Sewers) and not once you get enough dark eco, you will fair better
Even all these years later, this animation really holds up. They put a lot more effort into the expressions and movements than the people who made Gollum.
Sorta. Since in the past the precursors were already long gone it’s fair to say that the metal heads were around that time, but probably in hiding to rebuild their strength (which is a good enough reason as to why they weren’t in the first game). The rift opening might’ve accelerated the metal heads plans as more of them came to the past to possibly work with the metal heads of back then in order to set the future to what it is now At least that’s my theory
+Shara Mae Villanueva the cutscenes were always my favorite part of the game ^^ it just seems so engaging for me in a way. btw you wouldnt happen to be related to a Mary Villanueva?
Almost 20 years later I never noticed Samos saying, "so thats how it happened" and "find yourself Jak". He knew about his past still, I thought he forgot about it when he went into the rift the 1st time..
Throughout this all I can think is Wibbly-Wobbly-Timey-Whimey In all honesty we should have known that Kor was the Metal Head leader from the beginning or at least had a good guess because look at him the thing on his head looks just like a metal head gem thing. and his beard... well... I personally felt kind of dumb after playing this
The first 3 Ratchet and Clank games and the first 3 Sly Cooper games simply cannot compare to the first 3 Jak games. Naughty Dog was on a totally different level.
daxter-the baron pumped our boy here with dark eco and it did something to him. Me- Yeah it made puberty hit him so hard that you'd think that jak owed it money.
Still one of the best line in video game history

NOT SPILERS IF I PLAYYED THE GAME DUMBASS BUT I ALSO PLAYED PIRATE KING ONLIEN AND SO WILL YOU RIGHT NOW NIGIGIGIGIWRF
I find it so funny that Jak & Samos are actually from the haven city timeline originally.
A temporal loop. Having to be born in the future before living in the past to eventually go to the future.
Or lazy writing. lol
AlmightyMedia lazy how?
@@EmptyMan000 Complicated time travel done right in a video game. Chew on that Sonic 06!

I remember having the most biggest crush on this version of Jak, when this game first came out.
I still do he's hot
so basically the Peacemaker is like the RYNO of the Jak and Daxter universe
This game is so brilliant, just like the 1st and 3rd one. Jak X was fun, and TLF doesnt exist in my world.
Amen to that TLF was trash

What about Daxter for the psp? Never played it myself, so I wouldn’t know.
It’s too bad Jak 4 is in development hell
Dax: ''Hey there, five gins, how's crimez?''
Krew: ''What's his problem, ey?''
"Nothing, I'm just fine! (Hiccup) Mind your own business."
“I sometimes feel so very on my nose gibberish gibberish SO DRRYYYYYYYY... ya know what the trouble with u krew uv got no vision this place could be a real swinging joint”

Five "chins"
Because daxter drank too alcohol/liquor feel so drunk and hallucinating/seeing things.
Jak II - Still the best game in the series IMO.
+Denizen36 I think Jak 2 was so hard was cause the lack of checkpoints. And some missions were so difficult

Jak 2 might've had a better story than jak 3. But jak 3 had better game play
Well said
3 was hardly a challenge and the ending was dogshit.
Imagine if Jak 2 had it's story, but had jak 3's gameplay, that would've been killer, it's still a great game though
He's the wise-cracking sidekick and he's so much better in this game and Jak 3 than 1
Daxter drunk LOL
Love the trilogy but dang it's hard!
My childhood right here! Makes me almost cry that's how much passion and love I have for jak and Dax
23:41 i don't know why but i just luv hearing Daxter speed reading the contract.
lol ikr, he reads all through the first page before taking a deep breath and resuming the 2nd page, i love that whole cutscene aswell
Dax is funny in general, but that contract scene aside, I particularly enjoy when he gets Jak out of captivity and makes him break his silence by declaring revenge on the dictator responsible for the Dark Eco experiments on him.
I thought it was funny how Krew said "we can work out the little details later" breathing so heavily
Torn: STOP THAT!! This is serious you moron!!
Daxter: That's right, don't mess with the sugar!
03bgood get your squirrely ass outta here
Jak 2 was the best game I've ever played together in my childhood with other games as Jak 1, Jak 3 and Jak X.
You're the talk of the town, Jak
You give the people hope. How pathetic.
Am I the only person here who was scared when Jak spoke for the first time? I mean, I understand why he said that, but still...Wow.
Youre not alone, dude.
I was about 8 when I played the game for the first time and I jumped when Jak spoke. I was a bit terrified lol
Somehow, I wasn't.
i wonder when someone grows a pair and makes a Zelda game where Link talks. i bet that would sell like mad, even if just bcoz people want to experience it themselves, so they can bash it with some justification.
Finnish Person That's the thing, Link is never supposed to speak. If he did then it wouldn't be a Zelda game. He did talk in the cd-I games, but everyone knows those games suck.
This game had such a good story
"You look like a reasonably smart man. I want information. Where the hell am I?"
Goddamn hahahaha
7:34 Probably the saddest cutscene in the entire franchise or arguably the entire 6th generation of consoles, a symbolism of the beggining of the LONG drought of 3D platformers.
One of the things I really about this series is that it can have a lot going on at once, but it's still easy to follow.
This was my fav game series on Ps2...Great storytelling and it was very fun
When I was little and played this I was always scared of playing the mission with the guards robot tank thing in the prison...
Im scared to play the jak 3 missions with those pod spiders. They creep me the fck out!😲😲
Y'know, I gotta say. I would -love- an actual OST for this game. Not just the music for game levels, but the music you hear exclusively in cutscenes. Most of it is -really- good stuff, and there's no where anybody can find the standalone music in these scenes.
i forgot how hillarious jak and daxters personality was lol
I love all the Jak and Daxter series but Jak 2 is always my personal favorite.
And in just 5 minutes of cutscenes, Jak became a total edgelord
Wayneisboss lol
Like you wouldn't be mad after being experimented on for 2 years, you want unneeded edgy garbage? Look at that black and red hedgehog from the sonic series
Isa the Rebel didn't really care enough to type his name but yes I'm referring to edgy sonic
Isa the Rebel All because he says damn a lot and skates around like one of the jet set radio characters doesn't really make him a better character than anyone, especially after adventure 2 just becoming fanservice the character.
He could be handled better in the games after Adventure 2, the some of the comic issues for what they are do a decent job of it
37:06 "Mr.Daxter! Your spendin all me money!"
Nonon Litten mr krabs is praxis
Okay if anyone paid attention to 20:28 crew said " Other wise they would put the true leader on throne where ever that little brat is " was he talking about Damos since Damos used to be the ruler of Haven City.
It could be, you might want to check the Jak and Daxter wiki for the real answer.
Yeah cause i'm a straight Jak fan & I find this really interesting
He was talking about young Jak, since Jak is Damas' son.
Black Wolf he was talking for the kid!! (young jak)!! Damos was already banished to the wasteland!! baron took him and then the underground took him to their safety!! young samos was his protector since in the future became his father-in-law!!
STIFF MEISTER Samos isn't his father-in-law. Jak's only dating Keira, he isn't married to her.
42:49 that delivery from kor is always good
38:13
that bastard old man. I never noticed that clue about his identity when I was a kid.
The Oracle who gives you the dark moves gives away all the spoilers lol
"Don't worry Jak, I'll save ya before you know it!"
*...Two Years Later...*
That always cracks me up.
The intro is so amazing.
And that's how Jak was banished into the Wasteland in Jak 3.
Victor Kresnek Yep. Kor, you are a truly awesome villain!
Ooooo so that's why he was banished? Cause he helped Kor? But torn did too I don't get it
Cherri Marie Holder Yes, but the reason Jak was the only one exiled was because of his dark abilities.
This place is to much excitement. We need to move back to the country.
This brings back memories when playing this with my brothers. Dexter was always my favorite.
I love Jak's face when he sees the two Samos the Sages. It was so priceless: 1:05:51-1:05:56. XD

"You will receive a months supply of eco! and tour half of the palace to see how the rest of the people survive." - Praxis
That moment when you realize that Baron Praxis is Gorrath from Megas XLR, both were my childhood and and I only realized this now...
That moment when you realize he also did the voice for Dr. Neo Cortex.

He's also the voice of Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob

Here are some tricks you may not know for the series:
- the Slums' Seal piece Krimzon Guard survival run can be beat in fifteen seconds if you have talent with your jetboard
- you can get up top the cliff where Metal Kor shot you down and basically shoot from there with no damage taken (takes two minutes tops to kill Kor)
- use only the peace maker in Errol's boss fight (it saves you time and causes more destruction)
- memorize the Krimzon Guard attack wave spawn locations and order of appearance in the Drill Platform because that's how many of you probably died (quick fire as soon as they spawn, don't wait until they're vulnerable)
- you can cut across some areas of the race track in Jak 3, making the race challenges much less of a hassle
- use your Dark Jak powers only during certain moments (i.e protecting Ashelin at the Pumping Station, the Metal Hose Head group attack in the Sewers) and not once you get enough dark eco, you will fair better
Nobody complained about Jak 1 being too easy, like that was literally the point with the game. Its a game focused on exploration.
Even all these years later, this animation really holds up. They put a lot more effort into the expressions and movements than the people who made Gollum.
39:48 We're in the future, Dax. This..Horrible Place..is..OUR World.
This was cool to watch because I was never able to complete the game as a kid
Thats the game f in my childhood
1:33
Im suprised how little attention has been paid to the fact that Samos says this.
this game was such a pain in the ass to finish.. i never got the feeling of satisfaction, just happy that it was over.
Lol some parts were challenging, but I finished this game like 3 times
The one was easy. The third was too short but fun . The second was fucking impossible for 10yo me
So essentially they also damned their own world sooner because they opened the rift gate?
Sorta. Since in the past the precursors were already long gone it’s fair to say that the metal heads were around that time, but probably in hiding to rebuild their strength (which is a good enough reason as to why they weren’t in the first game). The rift opening might’ve accelerated the metal heads plans as more of them came to the past to possibly work with the metal heads of back then in order to set the future to what it is now
At least that’s my theory
This game holds up surprisingly well👌🏽💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Brutter: WE GOOD NOW!
I love Brutter. One of my favorites! He's so pure and after the last game, it's nice to see a NICE lurker for once! :D
It only took 2 years of torture to get Jack talking
I love this series so much, my childhood
I have played this games so many times when I was younger that I can remember what will they say in the cutscenes XD
+Shara Mae Villanueva the cutscenes were always my favorite part of the game ^^ it just seems so engaging for me in a way. btw you wouldnt happen to be related to a Mary Villanueva?
oh no not at all. Why'd you ask?
+Shara Mae Villanueva I have a friend with Villanueva in her name and you look similar to her so I kinda thought you might be related to her
Almost 20 years later I never noticed Samos saying, "so thats how it happened" and "find yourself Jak". He knew about his past still, I thought he forgot about it when he went into the rift the 1st time..
In Jak3, Erol will be a cyber robot.
Man I loved this game as a kid.
9:27 oh no Daxter
OH MAN, You've got ALL the best games! Just finished watcging all your sly cooper videos, now I'll start with Jak!
Jax 2 so many memories
Thanks for uploading this 🤙🏼
Throughout this all I can think is Wibbly-Wobbly-Timey-Whimey
In all honesty we should have known that Kor was the Metal Head leader from the beginning or at least had a good guess because look at him the thing on his head looks just like a metal head gem thing. and his beard... well... I personally felt kind of dumb after playing this
If you play Daxter before Jak 2 the twist that Kor is the leader is already spoiled
Thanks for posting this xD My Jak 2 disk is derpy and the cutscenes like to freeze up alot.
The first 3 Ratchet and Clank games and the first 3 Sly Cooper games simply cannot compare to the first 3 Jak games. Naughty Dog was on a totally different level.
I miss coming home from school just to play Jak 2
This game is part of my childhood
Krew reminds me of one of my old teachers
11:35 boys, your in trouble from security
daxter-the baron pumped our boy here with dark eco and it did something to him. Me- Yeah it made puberty hit him so hard that you'd think that jak owed it money.
Loved this series, honestly the reason I started UA-cam :)
