To make you guys understand the importance, recently some car dealer in Pakistan posted a controversial message on Kashmir using Hyundai name. This snowballed into large backlash against Hyundai. Indians were angry and upset because Hyundai is selling cars in India for the last 25 years without any issue but this time their brand name was used to stir unwarranted controversy. The issue became so big that foreign ministers of India and South Korea have to talk it through involving officials from Hyundai global headquarters at Seoul. Kashmir is important for Indians not only because of geopolitics but also due to history. India faced brutal invasion, colonization and destruction for more than 1,000 years so we are very touchy on some subjects.

Pakistan as a nation was conceptualized based on Muslim identity in 1933 by Rehmat Ali khan. When Pakistan suddenly got created on 3rd June 1947 after a lot of riots and mass killings organized by the Muslim League(the political party which founded Pakistan), even Jinnah (1st Prime Minister of Pakistan) who was the leader of the Muslim League was caught unprepared. This idea of Pakistan as a nation of 5 provinces suddenly got materialized. While India was ready for a future roadmap and drafting its constitution in 1947, Pakistan did not have a roadmap. When the confusion was created in Pakistan after partition as to how governance will be carried out, the legislators were busy trying to find a road map and the Pakistan army came in to suppress the people. To calm the people and divert their confusion, the Pakistan army decided to capture Kashmir in the India-Pak war in 1948 where Kashmir was the battleground. Note that the King of Kashmir had signed the instrument of accession to India. The Indian army managed to push back the Pakistan army to the Line of Control which was established after the matter was taken to the UN and thus ceasefire ensued. Due to this, the region occupied by Kashmir during the war was called POK region(Pakistan Occupied Kashmir). After 1962 war of India-China, Pakistan illegally ceded a portion of POK region to China. This was the background of Kashmir. Let's talk about Kashmiri Pandits who were residents of Kashmir for thousands of years. Kashmir was the knowledge center of the world in ancient times. It is culturally and civilizationally linked to India. Pakistan breeded Islamic fundamentalism in Kashmir and tried to export terrorism for decades. During 1990 many Kashmiri Pandits fell prey to this hatred bred by Pakistan and nearly million Kashmiri Pandits were forced into exodus and fled from Kashmir. These people who had advocated peace and had deep cultural and civilizational ties with their land lost everything overnight. The genocide (again stressing this was a result of Islamic extremism) in which thousands of people and children were killed, hacked into pieces and thrown in the river, mass rape of women, and other such horrific scenes happened. The genocide is shown in the film. Now to the part why nobody wants to discuss this issue and why no global mention of this genocide? As I had explained that the perpetrators of this genocide were Islam or Muslim extremists, the political class was afraid that mentioning this genocide will result in a bad image of Islam in the world and in India. To secure Muslim votes, there was a systematic erasement or white-washing done from all walks of life be it politicians, intellectuals, media houses etc. No war tribunal was set up to look into the atrocities. The university lecturers and other intelligentsia downplayed the incident and found reasons to explain the genocide. I applaud this director who fought against Islamophobia and brought out the truth of this genocide which people from the rest of India have been wanting to know for 3 decades. #SaheeActressTV please read the history I have written as it will give you insight into Kashmir. Let me tell you the history, as a responsible Indian citizen.
Pakistan as a nation was conceptualized based on Muslim identity in 1933 by Rehmat Ali khan. When Pakistan suddenly got created on 3rd June 1947 after a lot of riots and mass killings organized by the Muslim League(the political party which founded Pakistan), even Jinnah (1st Prime Minister of Pakistan) who was the leader of the Muslim League was caught unprepared.
This idea of Pakistan as a nation of 5 provinces suddenly got materialized. While India was ready for a future roadmap and drafting its constitution in 1947, Pakistan did not have a roadmap. When the confusion was created in Pakistan after partition as to how governance will be carried out, the legislators were busy trying to find a road map and the Pakistan army came in to suppress the people. To calm the people and divert their confusion, the Pakistan army decided to capture Kashmir in the India-Pak war in 1948 where Kashmir was the battleground. Note that the King of Kashmir had signed the instrument of accession to India.
The Indian army managed to push back the Pakistan army to the Line of Control which was established after the matter was taken to the UN and thus ceasefire ensued. Due to this, the region occupied by Kashmir during the war was called POK region(Pakistan Occupied Kashmir). After 1962 war of India-China, Pakistan illegally ceded a portion of POK region to China.
This was the background of Kashmir. Let's talk about Kashmiri Pandits who were residents of Kashmir for thousands of years. Kashmir was the knowledge center of the world in ancient times. It is culturally and civilizationally linked to India. Pakistan breeded Islamic fundamentalism in Kashmir and tried to export terrorism for decades. During 1990 many Kashmiri Pandits fell prey to this hatred bred by Pakistan and nearly million Kashmiri Pandits were forced into exodus and fled from Kashmir. These people who had advocated peace and had deep cultural and civilizational ties with their land lost everything overnight.
The genocide (again stressing this was a result of Islamic extremism) in which thousands of people and children were killed, hacked into pieces and thrown in the river, mass rape of women, and other such horrific scenes happened. The genocide is shown in the film.
Now to the part why nobody wants to discuss this issue and why no global mention of this genocide?
As I had explained that the perpetrators of this genocide were Islam or Muslim extremists, the political class was afraid that mentioning this genocide will result in a bad image of Islam in the world and in India. To secure Muslim votes, there was a systematic erasement or white-washing done from all walks of life be it politicians, intellectuals, media houses etc. No war tribunal was set up to look into the atrocities. The university lecturers and other intelligentsia downplayed the incident and found reasons to explain the genocide.
I applaud this director who fought against Islamophobia and brought out the truth of this genocide which people from the rest of India have been wanting to know for 3 decades.
