The amount of harassment and weaponization of the disorder I've seen is infuriating. I dont have to be a narcissist to be upset by that, but my father clearly is one, and i severely hate how that's made out to be his biggest flaw/issue when he's done worse before and outside it. The man, just like many others, is clearly struggling. Don't know why certain people can't see narcissists as humans too, that disorder developed from something. I don’t remember where I saw this quote first, but I really liked it: _there are no monsters, only people._ I think it’s important both in humanizing people with “scary” disorders, and in recognizing that abusers can still be abusers even if they have humanity, and their abuse is still abuse even if they feel bad about it, justify it, or foster injured kittens on the side. I think the best kinds of paradigms are he ones like this one, the ones are just _true_, so they work both in the “have sympathy here, don’t be a dick” sense, and also in the “you’re having too much sympathy, it’s becoming excuses, stop it” sense.

I’m finally starting to accept that I’m disabled, I think it’s just been hard because I’m worried about being wrong even though I have some diagnosed foot problems that make it pretty much impossible for me to move long distances and I’m very sure that I’m autistic. And even if I am wrong, it not like I’m taking anything away from other disabled people just by acknowledging that I am disabled. Just wanted to share this with someone even if most people probably won’t see it or care lol
That's okay, not everyone has the same experience with disability, and it can take some a long time to accept it. Especially when you live in a world that is, in almost every sense, intentionally made to make your life harder. Doubly so when you grow up or are surrounded by people that make light of disabilities, simply because they cannot empathize or even try to understand their specific needs.

You might still not be able to donate if you're taking certain medications, but they changed a bunch of their regulations during covid. They no longer just broadly ban gay people.
21:04 this is so interesting to me. narcissism is something that is seen as so evil and horrible. ironically, a lot of people see themselves as superior to those with NPD. but all of the symptoms spoken about here are something i think everybody could relate to at least a little, which is how many disorders are: an extreme of the human condition. i don’t think i have NPD, but i have had moments where i’ve had a lot of these symptoms. it’s also extremely interesting that people with NPD can be so reliant on praise from others. you’d think they’d be confident and prideful enough to not care about the opinions of others, but their need for validation may be beyond what is considered “normal”. i wish more people could see mental illnesses and disorders for what they really are, instead of the hollywood version. i have so much love for people who are experiencing mental illnesses and disorders in ways that are not socially “acceptable”. the real evil is not the person or even the disorder, but the way we treat the people with the disorder.
my dad is taking me down to the beach on friday to an astronomical event!! the local astronomers society set up a bunch of different telescopes and are letting people look through all of them at different stuff!!! i've been wanting to get a telescope for a while now, but none of the ones we've gotten worked well, if at all. hopefully we'll have better luck this time!!

There's this one saying that my dad brings up often, "Billions of flies eat sh!t, and they can't all be wrong, can they?" And idk really know what it actually means but you can take it two ways in this specific phrasing: 1. Everybody's doing something bad, so it can't be bad. 2. Just because everybody's doing something doesn't mean it's right. I like to interpret it with the latter.
I would like the saying but that's not how flies work lol. The animals are "correct" when they eat their food source and occupy their niche, bc that's what they do! Yesterday a cat showed up in my front yard!! At first I thought it was a stray, but I don’t think strays usually have such soft looking fur (he didn’t let me pet him though😔). I didn’t see a collar or I would have looked for a phone number. I gave some cat treats which he seemed to enjoy and then he ran off, I hope if he has a home he gets back safe :(
When I first got Kieran I was so sure that they weren't a stray. Because they were just so cute and babyish. They have beautiful fur too. I was so sure that I printed off posters asking if this was someone's cat. But I never posted them. (TW gross body stuff) The main thing that pointed to me that they were in fact a stray was that their back end was matted with poop. They weren't chipped, neutered, nothing. They stayed under the pretence that we would find them a new home. But when my birthday rolled around my dad asked me what I wanted. So I said I wanted a cat. He told me I was ridiculous. There were six cats at the house no way no how. But in fact I just wanted to keep Kieran. I take Kieran outside all the time, and my neighbours are often outside. No one has said "Hey buddy, that my Mx. Fluffins!" Kieran has just recently gotten okay with being around others who aren't me, and that's after over two years of having them. At this point, I'm confident Kieran didn't belong to anybody and I just got so incredibly lucky. There are pets you own and then there are pets that are yours. Throughout my life there have been so many cats to come in and out of my door, but none are mine like Kieran is mine. Kieran is like my cat soul mate. Like how witches are soul bonded with their familiars. I am always saying to them "You're mine forever" because I can't imagine going on without them. If you see that cat again, take them in. Home them. Even if they aren't a stray, cat's shouldn't be outdoor cats. I never take Kieran outside without a leash, a harness, and major supervision. And currently, during flea season, Kieran doesn't leave my arms when I take them outside. It's likely that cat is a stray, and if they aren't, you may get a knock on your door. Anyway, there's my life story. I hope it convinces you to take in that kitty!

There are a lot of other terms (like verbal shutdown, semi verbal, etc) that describe temporarily not being able to talk or just being too overwhelmed to talk. Being nonverbal is a completely different experience than having a verbal shutdown. Both suck, but they’re just different experiences entirely.
It's not a choice I just sometimes physically cant speak I can still sign, use technology, understand words, write, I just can't talk some times but I can other times it's not that I struggle to communicate I just can't access the path to get words from think box to talk box sometimes

Yesterday a cat showed up in my front yard!! At first I thought it was a stray, but I don’t think strays usually have such soft looking fur (he didn’t let me pet him though😔). I didn’t see a collar or I would have looked for a phone number. I gave some cat treats which he seemed to enjoy and then he ran off, I hope if he has a home he gets back safe :(
When I first got Kieran I was so sure that they weren't a stray. Because they were just so cute and babyish. They have beautiful fur too.
I was so sure that I printed off posters asking if this was someone's cat. But I never posted them. (TW gross body stuff)
The main thing that pointed to me that they were in fact a stray was that their back end was matted with poop. They weren't chipped, neutered, nothing. They stayed under the pretence that we would find them a new home. But when my birthday rolled around my dad asked me what I wanted. So I said I wanted a cat. He told me I was ridiculous. There were six cats at the house no way no how. But in fact I just wanted to keep Kieran. I take Kieran outside all the time, and my neighbours are often outside. No one has said "Hey buddy, that my Mx. Fluffins!" Kieran has just recently gotten okay with being around others who aren't me, and that's after over two years of having them. At this point, I'm confident Kieran didn't belong to anybody and I just got so incredibly lucky.
There are pets you own and then there are pets that are yours. Throughout my life there have been so many cats to come in and out of my door, but none are mine like Kieran is mine. Kieran is like my cat soul mate. Like how witches are soul bonded with their familiars. I am always saying to them "You're mine forever" because I can't imagine going on without them.
If you see that cat again, take them in. Home them. Even if they aren't a stray, cat's shouldn't be outdoor cats. I never take Kieran outside without a leash, a harness, and major supervision. And currently, during flea season, Kieran doesn't leave my arms when I take them outside. It's likely that cat is a stray, and if they aren't, you may get a knock on your door.
Anyway, there's my life story. I hope it convinces you to take in that kitty!

reminder that you cannot "go" nonverbal and it a word to describe a permanent state of being! the word to describe that experience is speech loss or a verbal shutdown and it is not nonverbal/semiverbal and people using those terms have made thise actually nonverbal/semiverbal uncomfortable and has lead to misunderstandings of those terms

There are a lot of other terms (like verbal shutdown, semi verbal, etc) that describe temporarily not being able to talk or just being too overwhelmed to talk. Being nonverbal is a completely different experience than having a verbal shutdown. Both suck, but they’re just different experiences entirely.
It's not a choice I just sometimes physically cant speak I can still sign, use technology, understand words, write, I just can't talk some times but I can other times it's not that I struggle to communicate I just can't access the path to get words from think box to talk box sometimes

Genuinely fun and interesting fact about "going nonverbal": there's a lot of terms that have been made to describe when someone who can usually speak is unable to, which is important so that nonverbal and semiverbal people can keep describing themselves and their experiences clearly. Some examples are
- verbal shutdown (usually associated with autistic shutdown)
- losing speech (general term)
- selective mutism (a specific anxiety disorder symptom)
- being speech averse or voice averse
