Yea... see this is why when he asked if we were cool if he DIDN'T do that we were all just like.. "nay man, understandable..." he's been at this for SOOO long and he's up to 25k tiles. With the scaling he'd be at like half that it would just be agony for no reason, RNG is merciless enough

@@bruensclancp1996 I very much doubt you truly disagree. The series is good because he's a good creator and knows how to make anything seem hype. That doesn't mean the gimmick is particularly good late into the series. The gimmick was at its peak in the first few episodes, when the challenges were things like "I literally do not have access to a tree" and "it would be cool to have anything at all for this armor slot". At this point in the challenge, he's literally doing the most tile intensive quest in the entire game, so the limit has very little meaning. He has access to a ton of the game, far more than Swampletics had, and in fact the only real limit he has is that he has to grind XP between doing things that are interesting to watch. The only limit is if he wants to spend dozens or hundreds of hours of IRL time to "unlock" content, something the viewer only gets a short montage of. Like, the impact the tile gimmick has in this episode is that we get a few more large timeskips of grinding XP, and he loses small amounts of progress on things like agility checks failing.
1. You can use a lunar staff as a dramen staff for fairy rings. 2. You can reanimate ensouled heads right after you get the drop if you bring the runes. 3. Dagannoths drop cadantine seeds at 1/239.7 rate.

There is a dusty key spawn by the baby blue dragons in that dungeon and you could have grinded the temple of the eye minigame for a catalytic talisman to use instead of a death talisman
If you're able to bring the Arceuus spellbook with you on slayer tasks that drop ensouled heads, you can instantly reaninate them when they're initially dropped, saving you the need to take a trip back to the Dark Altar.
Havent even thought about this whole game in like years and I just binged all these episodes in two days straight after somehow discovering this series. This tile concept is really entertaining af to watch haha. Great channel.

I've been constantly revisiting your channel, eagerly checking if a new video had been released, and perhaps I unintentionally overlooked a notification. I can honestly say I have never been this excited for another UA-cam (not just you) video.
A little late but maybe this will help other ironman out, a catalytic talisman from the guardians of the rift rewards allows entrance into the death alter so you dont have to get 50 items, that's how I got into it a couple weeks ago on my gimp.
This is honestly such a fascinating series. I've been a follower for quite a while and it really never gets old with how amazing your editing is and the love you clearly have for the game. Really wanna do a tile-locked challenge there myself

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm surprised he didn't just do the quest for GoTR and do the minigame for death talisman. I feel like it would have saved a good bit of tiles. It's a bit of a grind (but that's what Settled is all about)

I wonder if just doing temple of the eye and guardians of the rift for a catalytic talisman would have been more tile efficient than going to get that key. I can't remember how far in that direction this account has gotten.
I'm still having fun with this series but it's starting to feel like the tile restriction is more of a flavorful gimmick and less of an actual restriction. When you can brute force anything by grinding for a few hours it doesn't really feel like there's any point to the challenge - you're essentially just playing the game normally but you need to stop to grind every once in a while. Again the series is still fun and I like it, but there's increasingly fewer things that feel like they require a clever workaround rather than just doing it the intended way, which makes it not feel like much of a challenge run.
When I was younger I used to play a game called tileman with my uncle Jim, if I stepped on the wrong tile he would bend me over and split me open like a coconut!! Oooh! Fun times with my uncle
I dont know why, youtube has shown me this, ive never played before. But this looked interesting so i decided to click n see, i stopped half way to go to ep 1. Youve earned a like and sub because its all organized in a nice playlist for me to not need to search through year of videos. I appreciate.

@@nonaG123 Should have reverse scaled, no reason the first several tiles should have cost 1000 xp.
Coupled with a less ambitious goal, it probably would have been a better series.

You coulda save a couple hundred tiles on the Dusty Key. There's a spawn on the ground near the baby blue dragons.
He also could've done Guardians of the rift. Gets a bunch of tiles, get a catalytic talisman

You could use a Catalytic Talisman from Guardians of the Rift and it counts as a death talisman instead of getting items for the dwarf
Or buy the death talisman for abyssal pearls from Guardians of the Rift.

@Settled, you can set Runelite shift click on prayer pots to "use" instead of drop. It will save you some time and be better for your hands!

It definitely would've been fewer tiles, and a great source of runes for the magic grind, but hindsight is 20/20.
Yup definitely would have been the better play, leveling up RC would have basically payed for any tiles used in the quest/minigame
