Thanks for the video - as you say there are all types of ways out there. I have tried about six. The candle and ice cube are the cleanest way. Thank you very much!

    GlazeGlassJewellery,
Thank you for your helpful hints. You're right, scoring the inside of the bottle was the wrong thing to do. I don't know why they even sent it along. Through a process of using hot kettle water and cold tap water I was able to successfully cut a beer bottle now.
You can find the success video on our channel titled 'Bottle Cutting Success - The G2 Bottle Cutter works after all'.

That's great to hear Shawn. I will give the water method a try next time - it just gets a bit messy with a classroom full of people.

I've used this some device numerous times and had very few failures. I have made a wide array of drinking glasses and even lanterns. To me, the easiest method is to use hot/cold water. but the trick is to heat the glass up with boiling water. after you get it hot, run cold tap water, and start spinning the bottle quickly. while spinning put the score line under the cold tap water and you will see it crack and then just pop it off. really easy.

Hi Nick, you were doing fine with everything until you decided to score the inside of the bottle. When it says to repeat the process, it means repeat the hot/cold, not the scoring. If you have two score lines of glass it won't usually break straight - one score line is all you need. We teach classes how to do this in our studio and have very few failures. We don't use the hot/cold water method because it gets too messy, and the candle/ice cube method works well for us.

You're not alone. I've had nothing but problems and I went so far as to make a video about it. You're not going to believe the response I got.

Yes, definitely. Give it a try. I often cut out beer bottles.

Thanks Debbie for making this video. I have NO talent for making jeweler. But, I do need drinking glasses at my house. The kids break glasses faster than I can buy them. Now others can sip Beaujolais and I get water glasses.

Hope you have great success with them! I buy Skye Vodka bottles because they are blue and make great glasses - but I don't like vodka, so it all gets given away to my friends!

Apparently it will still work even if the d component is assembled backwards. Still a very informative video. Thank you

Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with your bottle cutting. The trick is to use one hand to hold the cutter on the bottle and the other to gently turn the bottle - it does take a little co-ordination and practise, but it is quite easy - I've seen people in their late 80's using this without any problem, and they have not used it before.

Thanks for your comment Bob. We are definitely working on shorter delivery times on the next batch of videos. I can understand your frustration. Don't worry we will definitely improve (we all start at the beginning and learn as we go on), so I hope you stay around to watch more.

I just received my g2 today and have gone through about 5 bottles all of which have cracked down the sides. I'm not going to give up but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Hi Sheri, it's difficult for me to see what is going wrong here, but I would suggest that you ensure that you only put one score around the bottle (in other words, don't keep going around once you have done a complete circle, stop when you hear the gravelly noise); also take it slowly when going through the heating/cooling process, don't try to force it, just let the glass do it's own thing in it's own time, be patient and it will work well for you. Hope this helps.

Sorry, forgot to mention that when you repeat the process, you need to do this several times, short bursts (about 4 - 5 seconds) on hot and then cold. Be patient and you should get a nice clean straight line every time.

Can this be used on smaller bottles? Say, 12 oz.soda or beer bottles?

Your delivery is the most tedious I have come across. Try to make it SHORT. I left before two minutes.

Please quit hitting the bottle. Your voice is soft so volume must be turned up and banging the bottle is exceptionally loud and irritable. No offense intended, on a suggestion.
