I've hunted on the ground since I began bohunting. This is my 48th season. It can be exhilarating one moment and frustrating the next. The more experienced you get from hunting on the ground, the more confident you will become if you need to set up at ground level. Have a fun season, and good luck.
48 seasons? Wow! Thats pretty cool. I was in a bad setup and knew it from the get go. It was a quick after work hunt. I figured screw it lets see what happens. If I wouldnt have over estimated my shot I would have nailed that doe. I grunted and it locked up perfect broadside.
@TheHunter46176 at least you are willing to adjust based on your situation. That is a big plus, and I could tell you learned something from the hunt. You have to learn how to blend in the best you can. Keep after them it will happen.
Found oaks that are being tore up yesterday when scouting, but could not find a tree to climb. Going in this afternoon on the ground. That is an up close and personal view of a deer, got to love the thrill.
I found were the buck was using from pines into hardwoods and days before I intended to hunt, used tree branches, old dead wood and pine needles to make a natural looking blind. All natural from that specific spot. 30 yards from the pines with my back to a huge oak tree.......Shot him at 7:15am the 1st sit.@TheHunter46176
Yeah, ground hunting is not on the top of my list, but it can be useful at times. When I don't bring a ground blind and I just want to keep it lite and mobile. I bring a camo net. Crazy cheap on Amazon, and they pack super small. The one I use is like 4.9ft by 6.5ft for solo hunts, I also bought a bigger 16ft one for two people. I got the desert digital camo, which blends in well with fall leaves. I attached some clips with bungee cords to them to make it easy to attach it to near-by branches. There's a bunch of camo net on Amazon, but the one I use is from a brand called "iunio". I hope this helps. I like your idea of using the one stick as a chair for ground hunting.
Heck shot my first deer of the season looking up at me fooling around with my arrow that the knock came off when I drew the bow back the deer let me get the arrow back together and let me draw the bow back while looking at me lol
I was surprised how much those deer tolerated. They knew I was there and wanted a closer look, but I was not able to move. They both turned their head and I figured its now or never. When I grunted that deer stopped dead broadside at 35yrd. For some reason I thought it was at 50.
Great footage! Always tricky from the ground. Good luck the rest of the season, we'll be following along with the hunts!
Vaca starts monday and goes to Nov 5th. Im gonna be hitting it hard.

@EdwardHans-eb2xx sure did! Have you ever used a leafy suit?
@TheHunter46176 No, I haven't. Was always concerned about string interference. But have friends that have.
@EdwardHans-eb2xx Im gonna try one some day

It sure does get the ol heart pumping lol
Killed my biggest buck at 4 steps from the ground. It's all about set-up and the wind.
I agree. My setup was less than ideal

Ive got some cheap camo netting. I just didnt bring it. I was just very unprepared. I was sure Id be in a tree. 🤷🏼♂️
Depending on the area. Here in the swamp, forget it! You cant move without making crazy noise
@@mikepraed4623 I think I need a ghillie suit for ground hunting lol. Ive never really hunted swamps. Agg and hardwoods mostly.
i use a bog deathgrip tripod from ground hunting with a firearm or crossgun. Makes it super easy when you have the weapon in the ready position.
Yeah I saw Death By Bungie use once one. 100% need one for my Daughter.
@@TheHunter46176 yup my youth hunters are 8/8 with it, 2/2 this last weekend here in NY
Yup, ground hunting is as tough!
Sure is man
Agreed!
