    Thanks for answering, John. I only said Porzingis would be the first because of the injury history and the contracts. I assumed it would be easier to get rid of a 2 year extension deal than a 4 year deal at jrues age by the time the trade happens. But I see your point I want Porzingis to stay and he’s definitely not easy to replace. I’m nervous regardless but we’ll see

    Hey I bought that Outsiders WolfPac shirt back in 98 at a WCW PPV in Worcester when I was 12 lol! Don't see that one much in modern times compared to the classic NWO one.

    John, I think that is a valuable, underrated insight re: Tatum. I frequently blather to other EC fans that one of our distinct advantages over them is health/durability. But we should pause and understand 1) we've seen Tatum wear down before and 2) fatigue itself leads to injury. Players aren't injury problems... until the day they are. No need to push it, as you said.

    • @bk0333
      @bk0333 3 місяці тому

      Exactly, this is Tatums and browns break year. If they aren’t pushing for the one seed early in the year they are fine taking the 2-4.

    "Two Time Jrue" 💍💍 is a keeper in my book, John, for as long as possible. He plays with a lot of heart and is less injury prone than KP.

    I think in 4 years time Tatum, Brown, and White are still here. Maybe Prichard and Sheirman.

    John, I rarely disagree w/you, but I gotta on this one! Cousy has to be the 50's rep & Havilcek the 70's...
    C-Bill Russell (60's)
    PF-Kevin Garnett (00's)
    SF-Larry Bird (80's)
    SG-John Havilcek (70's)
    PG-Bob Cousy (50's)
    Bench
    F-Jason Tatum (20's)
    G-Paul Pierce (10's)
    G-Reggie Lewis (90's)

    I take this as "played in that decade." I'd have bypassed Isaiah, and made Pierce my 2010s guy. And to tell you the truth, if I were building a TEAM instead of collecting accolades, I'd chose Al Horford over IT as well. WAY more versatile.

  • @tylerriley2587

    Fingers crossed, Springer can continue to improve in Boston. I would love to see him get a chance next year so he can let Tatum and Brown rest. His offense needs improvement by defense is good.

  • @mctaguer
    @mctaguer 3 місяці тому +1

    Isn't Cousy (and, to some degree, Russell) already a nod to the 50s? He played the ENTIRE 50s too--you could've used him there on your decades team.

    Yeah, people who think Perk is just a "Celtics Hater" don't see the big picture, nor have they watched people who are 1) way worse and 2) lazy. Perk is not lazy (unlike, say, Shaq) in his analysis, and he doesn't have a thin skin.

    Why would you want Tatum banging at the 5? We have so many options for the regular season? Back pocket

    • @LockedOnCeltics
      @LockedOnCeltics  3 місяці тому +1

      Cuz he's not banging at the five. I specifically said in certain matchups where he wouldn't be doing that. This is an '80s NBA where it's just a bunch of centers banging against each other

    • @bobqzzi
      @bobqzzi 3 місяці тому

      @@LockedOnCeltics As long as he stops taking those terrible step back 3s, I'm good. Tatum has a whole nother level to go to if they modify how he is used. Less bringing the ball up/dribbling beyond the 3 point arc, more high post distribution and shooting. More interior cutting/passing. Run some actual pick and rolls. He's fine at catch and shoot 3s and shooting them when he is pick and roll ball handler.
      He has some absolutely elite skills he needs to lean into.

  • @bk0333

    I think the first name to go is probably KP. Boston got essentially what they needed out of him and smart wasn’t likely someone who was going to fit into the long-term plans anyway. They definitely have a good shot to repeat as long as health complies like it did for the most part this year. KP is always going to be someone teams bet on and now even more so that he provided huge minutes in the limited time he played in the playoffs. If they want to unload him after this year they can and they will at the very least get picks for him and possibly some added young talent. I don’t see them moving Jrue in the foreseeable future, he is playing his role at an elite level and until he becomes a negative for the team they will eat that salary. The first two to go as sad as those days will be are Horford and KP. It should clear about 30-35 million in salary.

      Kristaps will be extremely hard to replace due to how good he is

    • @mctaguer
      @mctaguer 3 місяці тому

      Maybe, but remember, he's 1) still under 30 and 2) by 2025 will make the LEAST amount of money of any of the starters.

    • @bk0333
      @bk0333 3 місяці тому

      @@mctaguer For sure, I’ve taken that into account. When it comes to Al I think win or lose this is his last year. Why retire when you do have a very clear shot to do it again. He isnt the same player by any means but Baylor looks like he could develop into a solid pro simply because he fits the Celtics mold of the now. He can shoot, pass at a really high level, and has the ability to grow as a defender. The hope for him is that he develops like PP. A guy who is safe to slot into the rotation who costs very little, essentially what the team needs. Now to KP. You are right KP is young, and Boston could decide to just ride his contract out. But KPs age and his basketball age are two different things. His health history has certainly dampened how long he is going to be able to play. I picture a career arc like boogie cousins if these injuries continue to happen and his history says they will. We’ll just have to see. If they do win another ring, which is very possible, I don’t think it’s crazy to say they bring everyone back again and eat the tax.

    yep Holliday is terrible let's get rid of him as soon as we can- I can't believe they kept him over marcus- glad you are not running the team- does it matter that porzingis never plays?

    • @tylerriley2587
      @tylerriley2587 3 місяці тому

      Holiday is better because he lets the game come to him and doesn't do too much. He has a consistent jump shot. Smart is not coming back anytime soon. He had great defense, but his offense was not there. He was an inconsistent shooter.
      That's why we have Jaden Springer, who was traded from Philly to Boston. He's being developed with great defense but needs to continue fixing his offense.

      They really had no choice in paying Jrue. But at his age his decline is inevitable. If they can get something for him at some point, why not do it? I’m a huge Jrue guy as well, but they can’t keep everyone after next year and white is the younger just as good of defender and better offensive player.
