🥰🥰 My name is Madeleine or Maddie for short, and this is my UA-cam channel/baby! I'm a 20 years old business student living in London. Woooo you guys are earlyyyyy!!
Great fan of yours❤
Of course
Always and forever ❤️❤️
Do u still get the £20 a month PRET A MANGER subscription for drinks?? Because I had no idea it existed before u told us about it and I’m so happy I’ve discovered that I use it almost every day 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻🥰🙏🏻💕
Of course and always
Waitrose is one of the most expensive grocery stores !!! Marks and Spencer’s also shop in Lidl or Aldi !!! They have really good quality foods for WAYYYY cheaper
yes! Aldi or Lidl :) but Asda also is fine, if I remember correctly
@@CapturingSpain yes ASDA, tesco and Sainsburys are more middle tier, M&S and waitrose are upper tier and Lidl and Aldi are lower teir in terms of pricing I'd say
The quality is not comparable there is a big difference unless you are going for things like meat, milk, veggies etc. But pre made foods and breads etc are a lot nicer.
@@spaceboyrust yeah if you are that type of person and prefers prepared meals
only problem with aldi is sometimes their fruits and veggies go off quicker which is annoying
If you shopped at lidl, aldi, asda or pretty much any other shop than waitrose, you'd probably save a lot more on food. Also getting a monthly or weekly oyster could be cheaper
Hehe I legit take the tube once every week, so I don’t think I would save anything!
It's great to see her calculate and compare money with her time/work. She may have spent £13 on a takeway because she wanted to spend an hour of cooking on work instead. But that one hour of work is gonna make her more money than £13. You can tell she's a business student.
Ahahahahhaha yes. She is. A business. Student.
A different perspective is she just *wanted* a takeaway, she didn't want to wake up 10 minutes earlier 6 days a week which would have given her the time to get her work done and then have an hour to meal prep for a few days. But she didn't because she doesn't need to pinch her pennies. Good for her but we just need to remind ourselves that what we see on YT/social media is not the only way of doing things.

I like how you included some vlog clips in this video so it’s not just finance and numbers 🤓 it’s interesting to see this type of video from someone living in a different country, cost of living varies so much 😮
Yes it does!
I studied in the UK as well, but I chose a smaller city(still a big city) than London shopped in Lidl and spent way less. So if you are on the budget or aren't making as much money, and still want to study abroad you absolutely can!
for anyone wanting to move to London you do not need to be living somewhere that costs 1110 pounds a month. you can get lovely places just outside of central for 600-800 pm xxx
Which places please? xx
Honestly if you are fruggle enough, London is a lot cheaper than most city’s. Your main and biggest game changing expense will be accommodation.
I'm moving to London in September from California so this is really insightful. Where I live now is already really expensive so hopefully there wont be too much of a difference... but knowing me the coffee shops will be tempting!
So cool. I really want to live in London to. Wish all best wishes🥰
i live in england!! i don’t recommend buying food from waitrose, unless you are wealthy. Lidl and Aldi are much cheaper and generally better for most things ahaha
@@valerijaseikstule7555 Thank you so much!
@@rum-zz6tu Thank you for the tips! Ah yes I actually shop at an Aldi here in Southern California so that's great!
Her vids are always so aesthetic i love it❤️
Wonderful video! I’m an international student studying in Wales so it’s much cheaper but still interesting to see it!
Students can get spotify for £5 a month. They'res no need to be paying £10!
WHAATTTTTT I need to look into this
@@macerly unidays or student beans !!
this was such an insightful video! i don't think you spent a crazy amount, especially as coffee and food is soo tempting
Could you please do a video about how having a MasterCard work as a student, the points, the benefits, and all? And how it works for your travel expenses
Not her saying she eats healthy food when she’s sick, whilst I’m sat in my bed sick and I’ve only eaten fast food and bread since I’ve been sick
As a business student, this was so satisfying to watch
Such a good video idea.
I absolutely love your channel.
I live in Newcastle and literally only spend £150 for everything including rent and subscriptions! I eat out as almost as much as you do too. I could never afford a big city!
Wow lucky you
i honestly feel so sorry for people, especially college students who have to be independent and have limited monthly allowances, who live in 1st world countries because almost everything is so expensive. Here in my country you can buy lots of meat, fruits, and vegetables for only 30 pounds and that is already good for 2 weeks if you are living alone. And you can also find a nice and neat rental room for only 60 pounds...
Yes, it didn't show up in yt feed but saw it from your ig story
Btw love your vlogs🌺🌺🌺
£3.20 for a jar of pesto?!?! please stop shopping at Waitrose, you can get the same product at Aldi for 70p! but aside from that lol as someone who’s hoping to move down to London for uni next year this video was great heheh thanks for sharing :)
Your channel is very good and it conveys a very good feeling to me😍❤
Greenwich,or North Greenwich area
Rents are lower,ASDA ,Lidle,Aldi
German Supermarkets in UK
selling mostly German groceries and wiener hotdogs.

loved the video maddie!
very interesting to see what living in London is like!
Hi neal what's up
Hello from Azerbaijan. You are my fav youtuber 😊
Just go Sainsbury’s
When I was in university, I splashed out on a Sage Barista Express espresso machine and actually ended up saving money due to the sheer amount of coffee I drank as a computer science student lmao
Unreal seeing the cost of living in London, compared to where I am further north. Although I am sure shopping at Waitrose doesn’t help 😅
How does it compare with Oslo, out of interest? Also… do we have to spot Maddie’s word of the week? 🥖
Groceries in Oslo are quite expensive
it's really helpful because i'm planning to study abroad and this gives me a chance to see how much i've to earn,, to give my expenses ;)))
love your channel!!
Best of luck!
@@macerly thank you!
this really helps thank you!
Nice video!👏 It's important to find the little ways to reduce spending so it'll help in the long term!
I love these videos and I would LOVE to move to London! For now, I'm staying in Copenhagen and I made a similar video about the cost of living in Copenhagen if you are curious
Would you be doing vlogs
Would love to see it ☺️☺️
@Amitabh katara. I am from Denmark
@@lifeofella784 definitely!
Subscribed already, do you mind sharing your tips or helping me, I'm also coming to London
Can’t believe how different being a student is now vs 00 s lol students are way more adult and healthy now no one back in my day was buying flowers and take out Coffees were not even a thing.
That was half of my monthly budget including rent and all bills gone in one week RIP💀 your life feels like luxury to me🙃
Thanks for your helpful information
🌼
You’re the definition of beauty! ❤️
Interesting to see the cost of things. But also just wondering, are the guidelines so different over there; if you are experiencing cold like symptoms you are allowed to go about normally (shopping, meeting friends etc) .?
If you have any symptoms you are meant to do an at home COVID test :)
So ready to watch thissss
Hey, canva is free for students, just fyi!
Love this!!!
Heh I needed this :)
Enjoyed, stay safe out there 🙂🙂🙂
Hello Im planning to study in London soon and your channel is very helpful reference for me :) ps. I seriously need to find out the ways to save money in advance haha
same omg
Do the same thing - track all off your expenses for a week. Everyone should do this. It helps you find ways to save money.
Definitely does!!
@@macerly which uni are you in??
the flat looks so nice! and honestly for 270 and central london that's a steal. how many flatmates do you live with if you don't mind me asking?
Just 1! ☀️
It's for a week!
270£ a week, not per calendar month
Amazing !! Sorry for late commenting 🥰
True thought unfortunately mine always ends up with losses😭😭

am I the only who realized that sometimes the numbers she read are not the same ones written on the screen?
Do you stay in student accommodation because I love the place you’re staying at and I can’t seem to find nice places in London when I come there for uni
Love this❤️❤️❤️
I wish my rent cost like yours. I pay almost 3 times the amount you’re paying.
Oh my mistake. Sorry. Thought that was per month.

How do you support yourself. Doesn’t look like you have a job while you’re studying. Do you earn all your money from utube? Love the chanbel
hi beautiful, what mastercard do you have? what is its name?
Thank you for sharing Tip New idea
how was your admission process to uni?
i love youuuuuuu
was that 270 per week for rent ?
thanks for the video, it was very helpful as I am planing to study in London, can you share what student insurance do you have? thanks
Is tap water drinkable?
London's water is totally safe to drink but because of its taste I'd recommend using filter jugs💙
@@macerly ok tysm
Don’t you pay for school tho ?
How old were you when you moved to the UK?
18! 💖
The rent is for 1 month? Or a week?
This is a what I spend on a week video, so the price I put out is exactly how much I pay per week
bro this thumbnail!!!
Girl, you gotta stop shopping at Waitrose please 😅
Lovely ❤️
$2000 CAD a month for rent and you have a flat mate?? Omg central London is so expensive! My husband and I pay $1400 CAD for our basement lol
Yes is it. 1600£ per month is normal in any borough of London, so imagine the prices in the centre
I love you ❤💞💓💘💝 you are very interesting you live london but i live azerbaijan
How do you even find a room that cost 275pcm? Gemm
This is a what I spend in a week! Not a what I spend on rent in a month :)
@@macerly haha I see now it makes more sense 🦄 thanx for the reply
How much did the uni cost you over 3 years?
Around £10.000 per year.
me interesaría estudiar en Reino unido a la ciudad de Liverpool interesante vídeo saludos from Argentina 🇦🇷😎🤙
Amazing 👏🏻💖
Nice
Good 😊
£270 for rent a month in Central London!🧐 How many flat mates do you have?
I think it’s per week
Its per week
Remember this is how much I spend in a week, not in a month!
Hmm cheaper than where I live.
How come your rent is so less
It’s £270 a week which works out expensive
@@meganbanks3738 but in video she is talking about £250 for month
Haha no I never said that. I pay £270 a week, and legit state in the start of the video that on set expenses my rent is 270. Since this is a “what I spend in a week”, obvs the 270 is what I spend on rent in a week ;)
@@macerly oh you are lucky.
Nice 👍 video dear
Hello🌼
WOWWWW!!!!!
How are you able to find such cheap accommodation I pay £600 a month for rent alone
I mean mine is £270 a week so I don’t see how that’s any cheaper than yours
I thought you meant a month 🤣
Ahah no, this is “how much I spend in a week” so it’s weekly ;)
❤❤❤
How is the rent so cheap?
I think she meant £270 per week, so she pays around £1000 per month and she shares the flat with 1 other person
@@nixy9437 it can’t be 1000£ in the centre, must be double. She is paying 270 per week and her flatmate another 270 per week. So the total price must be around £2000
