Personally, I found Appmon to be a very compelling story about the surveillance state and the overreliance on technology. Real horror story stuff. I kept asking myself how nobody ever noticed these kids walking through portals in the middle of broad daylight.. But then while I was watching I noticed that they never see it because they are ALWAYS staring at their phones going 'PHONE NO WORK' lmao.
I love that appmon is the only season that's the closest we got to a cyber sleuth game and they take the digital aspect of Digimon more than other season. I also love the villain actually achieved his goal and only got defeated not because he was punched to death or something but actually has some faith in humanity to not screw up and erase himself
@@KamTendo the only thing I'm disappointed is that leviathan doesn't look like what it was in the manga. Being one giant demon dragon lady. I think they changed the appearance because ordinemon looks somewhat similar
i have watched appmon as it released (i used a website that streamed a lot of anime and i believe around the release of the first episode i coincidentally found it in the anime list while looking for a different digimon season with no idea it existed) and it was genuinely one of my favorite seasons of digimon (and generally my favorite anime ever), i remember that every time i got grounded and a new episode came out id search for where my phone was hidden, literally cried over the ending of the anime and it really impacted me as a kid. this season is so underrated and it makes me feel sad because it's genuinely amazing and i love all of the characters also, had a massive crush on yujin when i was 10-11 lol
Its nice to see someone talking some true about Appmon. Some fans even knowing about digimon working as a multverse still deny Appmon as a MAIN generation that Bandai themselves tried to sell. It has even some similarities with Xros Wars which makes me thing it originally was supposed to continue the XrosWars theme, mixing the concepts of jogress and digi-xros with the AppLink and AppGattai. Also the classic digimon appeared on TCG and probably the Arcade game since they share cards and gameplay. Some fans are hella obsessive with Digimon being some wanabe of SMT, Its fine to have more realistic and darker histories like Tamers or Survive. But they're goes so far at times, to the point of spaming Habu about DW Redgitize Decoded. They forget the fact that this franchise started as a tamagotchi for the "cool 90's boys"
@@KamTendo The funny thing is that most of the time I see someone claiming Appmon is a spin off of sorts, they don't really have any solid argument to support that 😆😅 Digimon has been trying new things since forever and Appmon is not an exception. In my opinion is part of what makes the franchise charming and exciting all in all!
Appmon has always intrigued me, not because of its premise, but the obscurity of it compared to every other Digimon Season. I'd like to check it out someday but I got to get around to watching Data Squad the new Reboot and Ghost Game.
As someone whose only experience with the Digimon franchise was watching the US anime dub as it aired from the premiere of Adventure all the way through Fusion (hoping to get back into it eventually, maybe play a game too) the concept of Appmon as you've described it just sounds like the anime introduced yet another universe of the multiverse with another set of slight differences from what we've seen before as I recall being standard practice for the anime. Of course it's not uncommon for the introduction of or focus on different concepts in each new series to alienate some fans but claiming it's not canon makes absolutely no sense even if it didn't retain so much familiar DNA like you make it sound.
I agree! Alot of people alienated the series due to the concept being so radically different. But at the end of the day it is just a series that's apart of the digimon multiverse!
5 digimon appear in the manga are Agumon but it's look like the saver version of agumon along with lalamon and also Armordillomon and the 2 digimon from frontier
If I remember correctly an appmon can actually die if their chip are destroyed and their data will go through some kind of a factory reset and be transferred to an area that's quite similar to the primary village. But instead of turning into an egg they just revert back to their original state but their memory and personality becomes different due to factory reset. I guess the version of the royal knights and the Olympus XII for appmon would be the god appmon
Did Appmon even have an official US release? I know Ghost Game does, but I remember having trouble seeing anything Appmon (Even the intros and outros are only up in poor quality... at least last time I checked)

I'd definitely say watch it before ghost game, as ghost game has more episodes and can be a chore to get through at times
