I’ve said this a few times, the tourists think that the guards and horses are cast members in a theme park and they are there purely for photo ops. I also think that most of the people crowding around the horse and guards have absolutely no idea how dangerous a spooked horse is, they wouldn’t be invading the horse’s space or grabbing the reins if they did. I despair.

I'm appalled by the father holding his kid and standing directly in front of the horse. It's not fun getting run over by a spooked horse (been there), hooves hurt and can kill. That baby would most likely be dead.

If the guards were allowed a little sabre practice on some of these characters it would solve a lot of problems. And display the severed limbs on spikes - added attraction. The guard lets off tension, the tourist back off, the horse is not bothered any more and there is a lot more tourist attraction. Win-win-win-win.

@@pearlford121indeed. Good thing those horses are well trained and the man did approach them slightly from the side and paused for a second before moving in closer and in front of the horse.

I assume you haven’t travelled much? These are military personnel they aren’t tour guides or Disney employees. They are guarding and carrying out their duties. That doesn’t involve being an entertainer.

I've been around the world many times, I've even lived in Knightsbridge, across the street from Hyde Park and the Barracks. Plus I lived in Italy for 17 years, I've been to about 40 countries, which is not much compared to my friends. Don't assume, be kind instead of being rude. ✌️

      Yes, I've heard it ...
The fact remains that if there was a serious, deadly incident, it would be too dangerous for dressed up Guards with their swords, boots and helmuts, to ride horseback, blocks, to save the day. Standard uniforms maybe, but I don't think so. Dressed up Guards haven't been deployed since the mid 17th century. There are tourist kiosks catering to tourism, which keeps England alive. If the King was in danger, they'd arrive in black vans, tanks with AR guns. The Guard's helmut's alone, can potentially break the guard's neck. ✌️

@@Fatatua Take your own advice. If you have travelled as you claim you would know that it is not the norm for military personnel on duty to smile and chat to tourists. Even when on duty in places where there are tourists wandering. You are not the only one here who has travelled extensively. You are the one being rude about the guards. If you lived nearby as you claim I would have thought you’d understand better. Being a tourist does not give you the right to overstep the mark with our Kings Guards. In Rome you should know that the Swiss Guard do not behave like Disney characters. In most capital cities around the world you wouldn’t expect the working military to be smiling and chatting to tourists. So I don’t know where you get your ideas from. These men and women are behaving as they should.

Someone is going to really get hurt one day and it would be preventable if they had put a stop to this. People now days think having no manners and being rude is funny.
