Sorry for 2 comments on the same day but I've finally caught up with your old videos and I have to say I love this livery.
As I grew up in Oldham, it's particularly special to me, even though I moved to Australia decades ago.
    Another very nice looking model.

Great video! Totally agree, the TPE livery is really nice. I typically model 1970’s-1980’s BR Blue which is pretty bland some may say. However, the new TPE, EMR maroon, GWR green, Azuma, GBRF Blue and Orange (especially on the Class 50) and Scotrail Saltire look amazing. I bought the Scotrail 68 and love it so much I’m gonna get the DRS liveried one

Enjoyed your review. Will be getting 'Brutus', but not sure, whether to get it unchipped and retrospective fitting of sound, or get it fitted with sound at the outset. Currently have four 68s, 68001, 68006, 68007 and 68010. 68001 is currently away, getting a Howes chip fitted. Keep the reviews coming.

Fantastic review of an awesome model, absolutely enjoyable. I have two 68s in my fleet, DRS Compass and ScotRail. I would like to get the Chiltern Rail version named Oxford Flyer and the Transpennine one as well. As you say it really is the best model loco ever made for a great price. Be well and keep safe, regards Gary.

Nice model im not sure about the lack of yellow warning panels ? Ive got a Chiltern Rail version and the headlight covers are a little rough around the edges! I dislike the couplings fitted to the chassis though! The hook went flying on the very first corner? I think when / if matching stock comes along i will try hunt couplings?

Just seen this today and liked seeing another 68 in a different livery as I have the D.R.S. compass one with the sound as you have but I bought mine on 26th Dec 18 from Rails of Sheffield for £199 which is not a bad price for as you say a stunning loco.
I think I do prefer the D.R.S. one over Transpennine but then I do not run a age related layout as yours.
I have only been doing You Tube up loads for about a month and only started my train set a year ago but really enjoy it.
    Cheers Robert.

    Good review....many thanks.
How refreshing to see, (at last), locomotives without the ghastly yellow ends......
Now if we can only get the manufacturers to turn out all their models in this way.....irrespective of the dates the real thing actually ran......then it will be a good day in the model railway world.
Some models are being turned out now un- numbered.......another advance for modellers.
Yellow transfers could be included with locos for those who wanted to apply yellow ends.........but why accuracy is that important beats me....
The main problem with the Trans Pennine livery.......on the real locos, that is.......is that it come very close to looking like graffiti. It has always surprised he that anybody could come up with such a livery in the first place.
Having locomotives.....or indeed coaches,...... (and there are some)......running about in livery that appears to look like graffiti sends a message to the graffiti spraying halfwits that it is alright for them to deface trains and property in this way.........Think about it...!

A lovely looking model. Totally outside my area and interest really. It will be good if they follow up with a 88, which is very similar to the 68, but electric with a diesel engine. There is also the class 93 being planned, but not sure if any orders have yet been placed for those, Tri powered iirc.

The Class 68s have grown on me since their first introduction I didn't like them but then Chiltern Replaced the Class 67s with 68s and Now TPE are Going to be Using them and I like their Livery with or Without Yellow Ends (That's a Different Argument altogether) It's strange for me to like them as it took 10 years for me to like the 66 & 67 (mind you they saw off so much classic traction that's the reason why) but the 68 is a Gorgeous and Powerful Loco great for passenger work not too good for freight as they have a propensity to slip with the Heavier trains that DRS operate! But I do like the TPE Livery its kind of Futurist looking

Fantastic video and overview - convinced me to get one! (I was 99% of the way there!). Quick question, do all the light functions work normally on yours with the Imperium decoder? I got the DCC fitted TP Express one and an Imperium decoder for my DRS 68008, but the lights don't work correctly on the DRS version (get red lights constantly at one end). Have tried resetting the decoder but then get white lights both end and no movement (used CV8=4). Tried resetting the DCC fitted TP Express and got similar behaviour - all very weird!!

I have seen that loco at york many times parked and in use as Driver training(Scarborough) and and once as a rescue locos pulling a tp class 185.
The coaches for nova 3? And the other novas will come out. But it was easy to convert as just the livery needed changing will be same for tp express and hull trained ice as just re livery.
Have u ever thought bout a grand central zephyr on a diversion route. How about as I sow yesterday a 158 in Scot rail at york now in the hands of northern(was connected to a pacer unit) or the 185 Scot rail both with the X made of sports that span ends of carriages. Scot rail livery.
The 185 is for Yrk hgt lds and 185 no idea but both have had no effort to hide replace or change livery to northern apart form sticker over Scot rail word in and out.
you could also have the British royal scott(think) it dose a once a year tour of the U.K. i sow it york going to Scarborough it went though Newcastle on way to Scotland and trip included bath London Manchester and Wales over 10 nights.
Or make a fictional service as I am its on the premise that the regional Eurostar’s service was actual set up. Mine is called the east coast eurostar. A morning service that connects form Newcastle stopping York ending st panc where it connects with a West cost one then gose to continent. Mine is going to be a voyager in new eurostar livery but the original regional Eurostar service used class373 that was turned in to GNER white rose service. Could do what I am(only as shorter Dave space) or full class 373. Why not make the eurostar sleeper (Nightstar). A sleeper service jay was meant to connect again the north via st pan to Europe. on sleepers How about caladonia sleeper on a diversion as when West cost closed it goes normal to Glasgow then rather than wast coast goes via Edinburgh down east coast to London.

@@NewJunction Will do. My 68 showed up today, fantastic model. I've got some time this weekend, so I'll see what I can knock together with the 3D printer, and will keep you posted.

Can’t see the train, why did you film blank space?

Sadly this livery would have to be on a major detour to appear at Caversham Central, indeed probably hopelessly lost!! Thats a shame as I love the livery so will have to do with watching Brutus at New Junction. I'm pondering whether to get the plain blue DRS livery as already have the DRS Compass and Chiltern Rail versions so i don't really need another, but..................!!

Meant to add that I too find the coupling a pain in the neck!

Browndale Heritage Railway. John Brown have you solved the problem with the coupling? My 68003 has a very droopy coupling and won’t pull anything. I have written to Dapol but they have been less than helpful.

Lancaster Road Railway After blood sweat and tears I managed to make it a bit better. I got the skirt (snowplough) that is supplied, cut the two securing lugs off with a Stanley knife, smoothed it off then glued in in place. It lifts the skirt up and consequently the coupling (small tension lock type) is automatically held higher. It moves freely in the already made slot and marries up to most of my other vehicles. Deffo not the best solution but anything is better than the original. Hope this helps.

Browndale Heritage Railway. John Brown many thanks John, I may try that. When I wrote to Dapol, they tried to give me the impression that my problem was the first they knew of an issue.

Lancaster Road Railway Dapol couplings all seem to sag. Try what I said. Even Kaydee would be awkward. After the glue dried I slotted the coupling into the slot thinking it would rub as the loco went around a curve but it didn’t. I am happy enough. Best of luck. Let me know how you get on,.

To be honest I've got a Dapol sound fitted version and I'm disappointed with the sound. The actual 68 must have one of the best sounds since the Deltics and on UA-cam videos it sounds good. The model is nothing like this. Presumably I need to invest in some base speakers.
