I love the pot of gold, such a great idea to use left over Christmas sprinkles n paint them gold n the smear icing is super cute, I thought it was the Irish flag colors at first. Really great cookie! I'm going to make those.
I absolutely love this set for St. Paddy’s Day. For your gold paint, do you use alcohol? I’m trying to paint that’s as vibrant and shiny like yours. Thanks!
Thank you for all of your sweet words, Sasha!! 🧡 I do indeed use alcohol to mix in with the gold luster dust. I use Truly Mad Plastics gold luster dust. It's my favorite. I use a very high proof/high grain clear vodka. As high (and cheap!) as I can find!
I’m a new cookie baker! How long did you let your icing sit to dry before putting another layer on top? I just did a set for a birthday and all the cookies bled through, trying to use tips and tricks to help with this!
Welcome to the cookier world! There is quite a learning curve, so just remember - above all - that you get better with every set you make! First off, make sure you are drying your cookies under a fan. That will help significantly with color bleeding. I have an oscillating fan blowing directly onto my cookies as they dry. Secondly, with the fan on them drying - I let a few hours pass between flooding the cookies and doing the detail work on top. I typically do all of my flooding in the morning, take a break for lunch, and then do my detail work in the afternoons. So that is about 2-3 hours of drying time under a fan before working on the next layer. And then once I am done with the cookies - I keep them under the fan to dry overnight. So basically once icing is on the cookies - they are under a fan drying for about 24 hours before I package them up. Hope that helps!!!
This is a very controversial topic, and you will find all sides of the argument. It is non-toxic gold dust. I’m not here to argue, but for me and my business - this is what I choose to use. They have a FDA approved dust on their website as well if you prefer to use that. Just search for gold dust and it will pull up. Thanks.

Hello! I’m a bit concerned about your super gold dust that you linked below. Is it food safe?
