Gary Neville believes that it has taken the takeover of Newcastle to put such a huge spotlight on Saudi Arabia’s human rights record, and the MNF pundit says that the UK government must now act with the Saudi state to drive change.

Gary is full of contradiction in this video- he's a typical free market liberal that says respect people's religion, respect people's views despite the fact they murder and oppress people. 'you can't disagree with these people but I do disagree with these people' 'in a normal world that wouldn't be acceptable' - his words from the first 1:24. He suffers from Eurocentrism and is a typical capitalist bootlicker. He also talks about the UK government working with the Saudi government in order to improve their record on human rights... The UK government are selling the Saudis weapons to violently kill the people of Yemen. He's so out of touch, as he's a typical free market liberal conformist trying to pander to everyone's agenda and please all parties involved

These owners/countries shouldn't be allowed to use sport as a vehicle to change, they should change before being allowed to get involved in sport. I'm appalled at the fact my club is yet another example of money/corruption being allowed to run rife in football, as I was when City, Chelsea et al. were taken over. I realise I'm the minority, but to me seeing NUFC win a trophy in the next few years won't mean half as much as it would have without essentially buying the success and foregoing our values

The human rights records in these countries are horrific enough to boycott, and allowing them into sports like the Premier League, boxing etc. Does somewhat legitimise their actions.

The game for these guys is learning how to bend the financial fair play rules to gain an advantage. As abhorrent as the super league thing was, there is something to be said for each team having an even crack, wage caps, spending caps, a draft... all of the things people were immediately offended by, but at the core they are mechanisms to make it fairer. At the moment the Premier League is corrupt and not at all about the fans. But no-one complains because they think it's fine if their club has rich owners... just not if everyone else's does.

Is there though? Look what a closed system has done in the NFL. The team's cease to have any association really with their area and are turned into a play thing of the owner, who then goes on to move his team around the country as he sees fit depending on if the city he's in will give him a new stadium or not. Kronkey already did it American with the rams I wonder if he'll feel that London has too many teams and that Bristol or Sheffield are massive markets without any sort of stable premier League presence

At the end there he talked about bringing these wayward countries into the fold, pressurising them to be a bit more like us through collaboration, until they too are progressive democracies. That 1000, 600 yrs ago we too did horrible things but we made it to being civilised etc. I'd say KSA, RUS etc don't want to be like us, at all. They want what we have, not how we practice basic human rights and democracy. Putin doesn't lose sleep about lacking the warm embrace of the British people, least of all Gary Neville.
