Theres like 5 to 6 different revisions (versions) throughout its production run. Really important to know your model and which caps to swap. I dont know why none of the tutorials vids on YT never mention this crucial part lol.
did you do the caps on the power board as well? my game gear just quit one day, turns on for a split second then shuts off.. im guna do the caps on the power board and see if it will start up again
Probably good to use something between 0.7mm and 1mm. 1mm might be a bit thick for precision stuff. You can always add more, but can't not add more - if you know what I mean. Go with some that is leaded if you can, depending on your region of course. Europe hates lead. ROHS they say! Cold joints the rest of the world replies! 😊
Just tried to fix mine, didn't went as I was expected. By removing one of the bad capacitors, I've removed the contact part, don't think it will ever work now. Is it still possible to sold a capacitor? (hope you understand my bad english)
I saw no reply, it was 3 years ago you asked... but if you carefully scratch away the green on some of the track leading up to where the pad was, and use solder with flux and lead, you could attach to the end of the track - if the GG is dead/damaged any way, you're not going to make it any worse by trying :)
I have like 7 broken Saga Game Gear. I just buy a replacement from a thrift store for 5 -8 dollar everything it breaks. I don't do repairs don't know how to lol.
Sometimes, the contrast can go very bad with bad capacitors so you can hardly see anything on the screen. Capacitors are pretty cheap and if you have some spare time, it's a good way to learn :-)
