I mean, their "excuse" / "explanation", whichever you want to call it, does make a lot of sense though. The VAR is there to intervene in case a bad decision is made. If for whatever reason they do not get a view of the linesman raising his flag or any other immediate indicator that the goal was flagged offside, then yeah. This would be immediately remedied if the VAR is verbally made aware of a ref's or linesman's decision. I just cannot figure out how these people in positions of authority over this VAR system cannot seem to get even the basics right.

We need more than a point. If we had all 11 men, we'd have won, EASILY.
Simon Hooper, the referee of the match between Tottenham and Liverpool, is the same referee who officiated the match that Liverpool lost to Manchester City, and Liverpool had not lost before that in a number of matches. It seems that he just wants to appear in the media against Liverpool. He issued six yellow cards to Liverpool players, in addition to two red cards to Curtis Jones and Diego Jota. He also canceled A goal for Liverpool, and we all remember his attack on Robson at Anfield. Such a referee will ruin the greatest and strongest league that can be watched in the world.م
That's interesting. I was looking at Simon Hooper's stats and generally he is well below the average for giving out yellow and red cards. Until yesterday. Maybe he felt his stats were a bit low.
As a Liverpool fan, this lost is so painful that I put it as painful as when we lost the title two season ago in last 20 minutes of league by 1 point to City. It destroyed the fans
This will hurt for too long. I hope lads and Klopp find a way to go on another unbeaten run and hopefully win the title. In a matter of 3 second the ref not only messed up the table, Liverpool unbeaten record, also Salah goal involvement record. Diaz goal was a Salah assists. Ref broke so much in so little time
Exactly and you can't even state that being a possibility without getting fined or banned. The whole thing is designed for corruption to go by cleanly.
It could also be unprofessionalism. This isn't an isolated incident, the PGMOL have been getting away with it for a number of years now without any accountability. Heads should roll at the very top of VAR and PGMOL.
A missunderstanding? This does not explain the sequence of events because VAR knew that the on field decision was no goal. Which is why they said "Checking Disallowed goal" not "Checking possible offside". They're lying. At the moment of decision making, VAR knew quite well that the goal was disallowed.
The ref and the VAR can communicate when it comes to a potential red card but when it comes to a potential offside on a goal they both have no idea what is going on.

It’s all lies. There was 35 seconds between the goal being whistled for offside and the freekick being taken. They are all mic’d up and can hear everything being said. There are also 2 people watching the VAR, how is at least one of them not picking this up? Something fishy going on here
Obviously they can’t say it on air but it is clear corruption not incompetence. They had the time to look at Curtis Jone’s yellow card but can’t communicate a clear goal? Also, why has Liverpool seen four red cards in 7 games when they won the fair play awards in 5 of the last 7 seasons.
One possibility is they are seeing red cards because they are losing some discipline. Jota is a head case for his second yellow knowing he was already on a yellow.
PL is full of BS, it was so obvious they working so hard against Liverpool, disallow a clear legit goal, the red card 2 Liverpool players and was about to red card the third. all this talk don't mean sh*t, it doesn't reverse Liverpool's lose. UNFAIR
They need to be checked for corruption. You're telling me that the VAR official AND the assistant VAR official both thought they were awarding a goal? Ya right. Liverpool need to handle their own investigation then, with an eye on potentially suing the association.
Going to be even more embarrassing if the audio is released. They've complicated something simple. Imagine just saying "That is a goal, he's not offside". Wouldn't matter if they missed the linesman with his flag up or anything else on their multiple screens.
Absolutely right it's simple. The way they are using VAR is either individual incompetence, mismanagement or both to the detriment of all football fans.
The British Navy figured this out hundreds of years ago. If the captain says, "Set the mainsail", the reply is not "Aye, sir." The reply is, "Aye, sir. Setting the mainsail". That way there is no confusion. And the referee, Simon Hooper, is equally to blame for not clarifying what was meant by "Check complete".
@@jperala658 check complete no goal or goal. Isn't that standard? There was just a feeling not just on this game that they were not going to give Liverpool an inch
Well 2-1 if you assume that Dias scoring the goal wouldn’t have changed anything afterwards - actions, behaviors or outcomes. Big assumption. Joke of a call though. They need to have a big red button that turns on a siren to stop all play. Either manager should be allowed to press the button once during a game to appeal a decision.
When there are still such bad mistakes happen with VAR system on their disposal, you know that something is really not right. I'm start to think the game is rigged badly.
Any team can accept a loss away against Spurs, the result is not the issue. But this was blatant match fixing by PGMOL, and it clearly was not the first time. The most important match of the weekend, and Webb assigns two tainted refs to officiate both on-field and VAR? Obviously every decision they made would be scrutinised, but they were too corrupt and too incompetent to care
@@potjhm1that’s ridiculous, when would that happen and how would that be fair to our players? On top of that, I don’t think Klopp or his players would want that
As big a mistake as this was, there is a simple fix...communication. The VAR officials should be talking to the referee throughout the process. They should be communicating what they are looking at and then clearly communicate what they have determined. If they are truly only saying "check complete" to the referee then that is a huge problem. While American football replay has its own issues, that is one thing that is very well done...communication between the replay and on-field officials. I used to officiate college football and have first-hand experience with the communication aspect of replay. VAR needs to talk to the onfield officials in detailed language so this does not impact other games.
I'm not buying this. If a player takes a free-kick too early the referee recalls it. If the opposing team claims a wrong call in their favour the referee recalls and corrects it. Why can't you recall a wrong offside call? If this is the case, teams should look to exploit this with quick free kicks even if they go against the referee's call because he can't correct it. It is seeming more and more likely that this was foul play the more they explain.
It was not only the offside. The two red cards where both dubious as well. The first silent image the referee sees on the screen of jones was terrible. So they tell everyone 3 VAR people didn’t see the flag up and didn’t notice that the score didn’t changed!? They can easily intervene 5 min later and overturn that decision… This was pure match fixing. The hole referee team that night should be sacked!
Certainly they should be sacked for incompetence, however their finances should be forensically audited and if corruption is found to have taken place they should be prosecuted and jailed!
@@BeobachterofTruth No, not at all. If it is genuine incompetence then, I would be satisfied with them at a minimum receiving a financial penalty or outright job loss. It's a mistake where the consequences could end up deciding a title race or could decide which club goes into the CL next season. The moment that mistake was made there is NOTHING that can be done to rectify it, so because of that, someone has to lose their job for this. It's no good just saying sorry or we'll do better or someone getting more training, there has to be a serious repercussion.
the title race come down to 38 games on bad call is not ruining it unless liverpool won37 and even then you still potentially have 2 red cards in this game and its unclear it plays out the same.
The VAR decision is inexcusable, but so is the ONFIELD decision! Why did the linesman flag for offside in the first place. The WHOLE referring crew was blatantly against Liverpool.
So it's not even the first time they don't draw the lines? This is clear corruption, the only thing that tells us it's an offside or onside is the red or green line. If they don't draw the line then they used their eyes? What's the technology for then? This is not a mistake, it's on purpose.
I think they should just roll out VAR over a number of years. I think initially VAR should be restricted to only looking at offsides for goals and intervening if the wrong playes gets sent off. Once that works with near 100% accuracy then slowly bring in other decisions like maybe handballs
Only looking at offsides for goals? This is almost the worst thing about VAR full stop. Trying to call people offside by a mm-cm, something it was not supposed to be for.

This should the postal comment everywhere!
They shouldn’t be saying “check complete,” they should have to state the call.
Exactly!
