Anna O, you were lucky that entire wiper unit just lifted straight up and out from in front of your firewall. Today i had to get mine out of my 2000 Buick Century. I had to remove the linkage arm for the passenger side wiper shaft from it's ball joints at each end first. That didnt go too hard. Then i replaced the entire unit with one from a junkyard. It was hard to get it back in place. I had to remove the linkage rods from the motor shaft lever, and from the drivers side wiper arm lever, then wrangle the unit all around until it finally found its way under the channel and in front of the firewall. Then i had to squeeze the nylon sockets onto the ball joints on the levers with a big pair of channellocks. I straddled the nylon socket on the ball joint for the motor lever with about a 15 mm 3/8" drive socket to keep from cracking the nylon socket. I couldnt get at the wiper arm shaft lever nylon socket to straddle it with the 15mm socket so i had to squeeze the linkage arm as close as i could to the concealed nylon socket. What a tedious job thst was on my unit!
This is one of the easiest videos to follow! You make it look so easy compared to half the guys on youtube! (Even showed an alternate way to get the wiper blades off) I'll be referencing this video once I get the part:)
I just replaced the module on my 06 Trailblazer. I used the hammer and wrench trick to get the wiper arms off of the splines and it worked great! No puller needed. The job was very easy, took me about a half hour. Thanks for the excellent video, this made the job simpler than I thought it would be. By the way, you can get those plastic clips at any auto parts store in the "help" section where they stock clips and fasteners common to many GM models. I had some I bought for replacing the wheel well liner on my Cadillac so all I did was use the extra ones I had to replace the old ones I broke getting the cowl cover off.
That is so great to hear! Glad it went easily for you and you had good luck getting the wiper arms off. And thank you for the plastic clip info! I’ve never even noticed them in the store 🙈
You are a wonder! Couldn't get my vehicle inspected without this! Thanks a million, and saving me big bucks I would have had to pay the con-artist auto dealers in South Texas to do this.
Thanks for this video. I tried watching several but came back to this one because it seemed complete and had the information I was looking for. I changed my uncles pulse board in better than half the time it would have taken to figure all this out.
thanks for showing all the steps and find details of the job.. you make it alot easier to do the job..all your videos are quite helpfull to.i have a 2006 chevy trailblazer and repair jobs cost a fortune on it when taken to a mechanics garage.
Ana, my windshield wipers dont change the intermitend speed, keep the same speed, the maximum speed is fine and as soon as I activate the switch for intermitence also the pump works. What do you think? thanks for your attention.
Anna great vid do you possibly remember what the brand or product number of the replacement board I've found a couple different ones my truck is a '06 so I'm thinking possibly the same unit that you used in your video? Thanks again Cheers
Yes! From my Amazon purchase history, it is an ACDelco part number 19120931. The price has more than doubled from a little over 2 years ago. Check out the prices on Rock Auto too. Looks like they have remanufactured options for the whole windshield wiper motor and linkage assembly that are less expensive than just the pulse board.
Where can I get the clips you said you were not able to.save and what are they called.. BTW, you have the best explanation of literally every video I've watched on this
You can get replacement clips at any parts store, but I'm not sure exactly what they are called or what the part number is. I didn't replace the ones I broke and it seems to be fine without them! You could take the broken ones with you to the store after putting it back together to make sure you get the right thing. Also, thank you so much!!
Great video young lady. TY! My question is....I have the moister/rain sensing version of this. Will it be the pulse board or do I have to replace the entire unit? I have noticed on Rock Auto if you have the moisture or rain sensing the only choice it to replace the entire unit and not the pulse board???
Thank you! And I'm not sure, but I can help you dig! What year is yours? Are you having the same symptoms (wipers running when set to off, fluid pump works, etc)? Rock Auto has the pulse board for the 2005 listed with the description "pulse moisture sensitive w/s wiper system", which makes me think it would be fine to just replace the pulse board module rather than the whole unit.
@@annao4621 TY so much for getting back. Yes they used to shut off if i cranked the the switch back and forth from delay settings to off. eventually they would settle down and shut off. The switch is fine. I pull the fuse under the back passenger seat to get them to shut off. 2005 Envoy. I have 260K Looks brand new. I do all my own maintenance. The most fun was doing the power steering lines a marvel of a design by engineers on crack. In addition to this I have to tackle my Blower motor relay. Good time in the Northeast for all this crap to kick the bed on me.
You don't have to keep hitting the wiper post with a hammer until it breaks free, you could be there all day.A couple of good shots with a hammer and you should be able to wiggle it free.Soak it with WD or similar product 1st definitely makes it easier.I have never used a puller tool and I have done many of these.
Hi Anna! Do you by chance have a link to the pulse board? The ones I am finding are way too expensive to be considered. The ones on amazon tell me it doesnt fit my 2006.
@nick martinez you might consider replacing the whole assembly instead. Rock Auto has remanufactured ones that come with a new motor for about $70, rather than twice that price for the pulse board. Here's a link, make sure that's the right one: www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,2006,trailblazer,4.2l+l6,1432188,wiper+&+washer
ANNA O, I TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR APPROACH AND TECHNIQUE ON THE REPLACEMENT OF A PULSE BOARD ON A WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM. YOU WOULD BE A GREAT INFORMATIONAL INSTRUCTOR. THANK YOU AGAIN, YOUR VIDEO WAS BEAUTIFUL!!! PAUL T. H. CINCINNATI, OHIO
No auto parts place has these pulse board. I went to ever parts place I know of. You can buy the wiper motor with the pulse board attached cheaper than the pulse board by it's self. Auto Zone can get an AC Declo, new in the box. NOT remanufactured. O'Reily's has "" We give you the wrong part guarantee." Every time.
yeah the prices on the pulse board itself have about doubled in the last year! Maybe because of the chip shortage? Anyway, you're right about getting the motor and even the whole transmission assembly cheaper than the pulse board by itself. Last I looked, they were still available on Rock Auto. I don't think you can get it off of Amazon right now either.
@@annao4621 I paid $169,oo for the WRONG pulse board at O-Ripoff's, it took 10 days to arrive. They seldom get the right part. I have the wiper mood with the board coming. I paid $146.44 for the whole Ac Delco package.
