      If you verbalize "just enough", then the viewer can still track the action. For example, if I'm "driving" in a Zoom sharing session at work, I might say, "ctrl-c" "ctrl-v" when it might not be obvious that's what I'm doing on my screen. And we're 99% Windows users, so everybody knows what that means. Or I might say, "I'm going to do a slow scroll here, if anybody sees something they want me to stop at, just speak up". Folks will catch on because humans are almost infinitely adaptable. We just need to communicate more willingly.

    This is a nice reflection on how you were years ago and the improvements on what you know and how you do things now. With the experience you have now in the game, I think you could probably do "Improve Your City" builds like Biffa. It would be interesting to watch some videos of you and Biffa taking the same city build of someone and for us to see the differences or similarities in comparison of how each of you would improve the city separately, even if it was your own cities from each others past self.

  • @burmanphd
    @burmanphd 2 роки тому +24

    I always enjoy your explanations as you work. My one complaint, here, is that you're pumping sewage uphill to a spot directly upstream of both your city and your water intake. Not only is that inefficient but if there's a spill, there's a problem.

    • @burmanphd
      @burmanphd 2 роки тому +1

      For additional realism, treatment plants in the game should be paired with emergency outflow pipes. Because thats what we see in reality. But then because it's a game, these should simply be turned off. (Still, the pairing functions as reminder that treatment needs to go downstream from intake.)

  • @quoniam426

    You forgot your Lane Mathematics on the high way interchanges... The bus line loops are way too long. You should add trams on avenues and local buses to finish the transport network into the neighbourhoods. To say that the bus network you lazily designed is not the best is quite an understatement.
    A tram line on the avenue on the right, one of the left of the river. One metro line linking both sides of the river and busses to join every neighbourhood. Apply road hierarchy to public transportation as well.
    Fixing your old mess is a nice format as well. Shows us how much you learned in those 7 years.

    It's one of the most fun parts of the game. Taking a big hack at a city and either getting interrupted and forgetting about it or just pausing and not going back and then looking at it in the saved games tab and wondering what you did. Loading it up and going what the hell was I thinking. Then tinkering with it to try and make it better as you've gained more knowledge and/or have more tools. I'd really love to see you do more of these.

    I did this last year, going back to my first city where I had all the end content unlocked, but before any mods really existed. Did you know that Big Bird isn't actually blue in the Netherlands? The bird in the Dutch version of Sesame Street is called Pino. Big Bird like you guys know him is called Neef Jan in the Dutch version (Cousin Jan) and he's Pino's cousin. This was done because otherwise Pino was both blue and yellow at the same time. Cousin Jan actually visited the programme for a while, with some episodes featuring both Pino and Cousin Jan. This has nothing to do with the game, but just thought it was fun to share. The 100% traffic flow is a TMPE bug. The mod seems to take out 10 pourcentage points off the vanilla traffic flow measurements

    I loved this. Would be awesome to see an occasional series where you fix up one of your old cities or maybe someone else's save file that's gotten out of hand. Great for learning about some of the basics of planning and how we can apply those basics to our own games. And loved that it was done using only a small set of "quality of life" mods as well.

    love these videos! Just as an aside however; you pointed out that there was a hospital next to a clinic. I'm a doctor and I can tell you that this 100% happens quite often. Hospitals and Clinics provide different types of healthcare so oftentimes you might see your primary care provider set up an office right next to the hospital so that they can visit the hospital for example, or for easy access. The difference would be if the clinic is an Urgent care, which would provide similar services as an Emergency Department for example.
    but yeah overall; hospitals are Emergency care, and inpatient/hospitalized/specialty care. Clinics are your outpatient offices which provide your regular checkups!

    Fix them all. And yeah feel free to continue this one as well.
