Yeah, that's truly never something I even thought about. I predicted that he had to give it willingly to Thanos, but I never realized that was why. Lee's fucking awesome, dude
@@SmileKaroYaar If Dr Stange didn't give the stone to Thanos, then Thanos would've just beaten it out of him. Then when the time heist was executed, Bruce wouldn't be able to convince The Ancient One because she would assume that Strange was simply trying his best to protect the stone and failing; and that he didn't have any idea whether they would win in the end or not. By giving the stone to Thanos willingly, The Ancient One would understand that Strange saw the one way they would win when Bruce told her that Strange gave the stone willingly, and hence would give the stone to Bruce to fulfil Strange's timeline.
With ant man smiling during Thor’s story, I always interpreted as him being so out of the loop with all the crazy superhero space stuff that he’s genuinely enjoying the story cause it’s all so new to him
thats what i thought too. for him, hes just starting his superhero thing. and now hes meeting all these other superheros and hearing all their adventures and is just fanboying it up, like any normal person would.
I heard someone say before because he’s so use to hearing luis’s story’s go so far off on a random tangent, he is the only one who follows the story when thor does the same. Dunno if that’s true or made up but I like it all the same
To me it seemed like a forced smile where he barely even knows about space so he kinda enjoys the space stuff but is saddened by Thor's recalled memories so he jist tries to put on a smile.
Scott is new, and he was and is an Avengers superfan, so of course he listens with wonder at all the stories they tell. (Contrast this with the jaded, embarrassed, pained looks of all the OG Avengers who have lived through too much tragedy to be amused.)
@@yaliztrinidad4571 To this very day. It's still been a very long minute. We're still waiting. Maybe even Steve is still waiting for Natasha. But the rest of us are definitely. *sobs*
That is actually pretty cool to go that far. Just shows how much thought went into this by Marvel. Now let's hope that spidey gets to stay in the MCU forever for one of these team-ups again
@@wanderlustwarrior They probably just sat there yeah. They probably record multiple pieces a day either way so one short song isn't probably that bad to sit through
Makes sense. He also had to actually have everyone fight Thanos with everything they had, because otherwise Thanos would suspect a trap or planned countermeasure. And he couldn't somehow prevent Quill from interfering because the Guardians are too hot-blooded to stand for a stranger in any way attacking one of their own, so Thanos would have broken out anyways. Basically, Strange had to do the entire fight like he had no foreknowledge, until eventually playing on Thanos' belief that threatening someone's life will cause the will of others to break and have them surrender the stone, while also very specifically surrendering it willingly so the message gets through to the Ancient One that he did so with a purpose behind it. Thanos has no idea Strange and Stark didn't know each other; as far as he knows, they could be best friends. The most he may have heard from Ebony Maw was that a human sorcerer held the Time Stone, and the Avenger known as Iron Man/Tony Stark attempted to intervene in the Maw's mission but failed to prevent the capture.
Perry Carters Yup. You're right. And Thanos does play that card (do what I want or I'll kill someone you care about) twice just in Infinity War alone-first with Loki and Thor and again with Gamora and Nebula. In every instance it was coercion to obtain an infinity stone.
I teared up when thor just had a mental breakdown in front of rocket. Hes been through so much from losing his entire family to letting down half of the universe (in his perspective). Its just so sad to see him in such a depressed state.
Small thing. I love Natasha's smile when she says: "See you in a minute." Like this is what she was waiting for, this is their chance. Like she's filled with unending glee just by having the chance to do SOMETHING. Makes her death all the more gut-wrenching, but she did it with a smile on her face.
I think this is what I really don't fully get some of discussions why she had to die (as she is lone woman and that's because). No. She believed in Avengers. She believed in her family, because that's what Avengers were for her. Her partners in saving world. And that what got destroyed. Taken away from her. So she died because she believed in their cause, in a chance for them to return, raise in the sun again so to speak. In that scene where they argue with Hawkeye which one should sacrifice themselves I was so torn apart because I believed both of them, I really believed any of them could die. She wasn't token hero of the team. She was best one.
She made such a big deal in the first Avengers movie about how much red she had in her ledger. The only way to wipe it out was to sacrifice herself to bring everyone back. Like Tony's sacrifice, Steve lifting Moljnir and also going back to relive his life with Peggy, this is a callback to the first movie and bringing the character full circle. Also, Natasha did get a funeral scene of sorts -- the one by the lake when they talk about whether they can bring her back and realize they can't.
when she and hawkeye were fighting over who to die, in my mind, i already expected it to be her because i know that sacrificing herself is what she would want. while the other og avengers were already trying their best to move on and live their best life, she was the only one who still had hope and a strong fire to try and reverse things. she was ready to die for a noble cause and i expected it. but i still couldn't stop the water works and the ugly butterflies in my stomach when i saw her fall and land on the ground.
That's kinda reaching. I think an even better line would to acknowledge his relationship with Cap, since the last time they seen eachothers, they were enemies. And then, much later, when he gets pissed at Cap for not being with him, he say something like, "And because of you, I lost the kid."
@@Lito64 Tony says, "I said we'd lose. You said we'd do that together. Guess what Cap? We lost, and you weren't there." What I'm saying is, because Cap wasn't there with Tony to help him fight Thanos, they lost, and Peter died in the snap. But I mean, I'm no writer 😂
It's sad how people forgot how amazing of an actress she is. She's done/said some really stupid stuff recently, but still, she has an astonishing track record and one of the most diverse film careers (in terms of genres I mean) out there
I only ever saw her as a really great secondary character, but ScarJo and Karen Gilligan really shined this movie. Everybody brought their A-Game to Endgame.
No Win for the first scene with Tony and Nebula, especially since her entire backstory was about how she wanted to "win"(thanks to the eventual pain and suffering she went through thanks to Gamora's victories over her?) Just her surprised reaction to finding out she won is just so great to me.
Here’s a detail I liked in the scene where Tony gives Steve the shield back: it’s the first time we hear Captain America’s theme in the movie. Now go back to Infinity War, where it wasn’t heard at all, which had me wondering why since Silvestri composed both films. I tied back to the ending of Civil War when Steve abandons the shield and then to that scene in Endgame. That’s when I realized that throughout Infinity War, Steve didn’t take the Captain America moniker, hence why we didn’t hear his theme. The moment Tony gives the shield back and we hear the theme again, that’s the moment that not only reconciled their friendship, but saw the return of Captain America. Silvestri’s a genius.
Just the callbacks on other themes, like the two first notes of Captain Marvel when she shows up at the Benatar. Ant-Man, Doctor Strange... I just love this soundtrack so much. There's so much to unpack with just the score... As you said: Silvestri's a genius.
"Roast Nazi!Cap! Leave Nothing but the ash & despair that that stupid PR stunt left in its wake!!" Seriously how dare they leave parents to have to explain that thing to their sobbing 8 yr olds while going 'well of course its real... right? Oh well, guess you'll have to keep buying our comics to find out if caps really a *fascist* lol' There is a special place in hell for whoever came up with that. EDIT: It's apparently not clear but I'm voicing exaggerated schadenfreude here at the top.
@Andrew @Pamela Barton if you bring your 8 year old in a pg 12-14 movie (depending on country ofc), then you deserved it. There are tons of references it will miss. Even after 10+ years, i still find more and new references in older mcu movies i just didnt understood, either because i was just barely old enough to see them and wasnt taught links or science or knowledge (through school, social, family, generally growing up and understanding sarcasm, irony, or double meanings etc. better) or because i hadnt seen the pop/culture/whatever reference the movie reffered to, OR it just made no sense because it was lost in translation between languages. For example the Lebowsky reference. I just got that reference because i've seen the movie recently and now know 1. Thor looks like him and 2. Lebowsky and Obedigah Stane (Iron Man 1 villain) share the same actor.
@@Andrew-jh6nm Cap was initially created by a pair of Jewish immigrants in the middle of the Second World War. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out why having him work for the Nazis is in incredibly poor taste.
Here's a thing that absolutely must be in the next part: Hawkeye's bow. He completely gives up the bow after losing his family. He exclusively fights with his sword and flechettes. The first time he uses the bow again is when he fires the explosive arrow to try to stop Natasha. Because she's the only family he has left.
The kids who wanted a picture with Professor Hulk were the kids and a nephew of Mark Ruffalo, so he says: ‘listen to your mom, she knows what’s beter’, he is saying that to his own child’s in real life, and I think that’s kind off fun. P.S. Sorry for bad English, I’m from the Netherlands, not from USA or UK or something
I like how they treatd Tony's discovery of time travel. He's such a genius that it would have been impossible to make it challenging to him. The Russos figured out they couldn't get tension out of this feat, so they made it about whether Tony _wants_ to do it or not. Kudos for that.
I wish you had mentioned my favorite joke in the movie. When Thor comes up to explain The Aether, he is adamant that it is not a stone, and people should stop calling it a stone... then he immediately, in the next sentence, refers to it as a stone.
Thor is really fucked up mentally You have to think about it for 1500 years his life was all glory with his mom dad brother and freinds behind him But with in less then 1% of his entire life time hes lost all his home his friends and his entire family
I just love the entire conversation between Banner and the Ancient One. Two brilliant minds talking about the same concepts but through different lenses, of Science and the Mystic Arts respectively, respecting each other and each acknowledging when the other is right about something. And also how Banner gets thrust into this world of Magic and just takes it in stride, intuitively figuring out that he can interact with the projections too and make his point.
9:51 The one win I was missing was here: "Tony, I don't know." "Why not? He made it for you." "... Thank you, Tony." There is *so much* in that quick moment; Steve's reluctance to be "the hero" again; Tony's acceptance of his dad's obsession/hero worship, and his acknowledgment that Steve is more than just the man with the shield, but he deserves to carry it; Steve's guilt over everything that's even partially related to him and the legend he created; and the true reconciliation of the break in Civil War. Just... quiet, simple, absolutely stellar moment for both.
"Strange, he gave it away." "Willingly?" "Yes!" "...Why?" And in that moment, the Ancient One was all of us theorizing about Infinity War for a damn year.
Hold on while I consult the Time Stone to see all the possibilities for why he would do something so foolish. The only way...REALLY?!?! *sigh* Fine, whatever.
I hope he talks about the bat-shit crazy stuff we will see in the MCU after Endgame, since the continuity where Thanos destroyed the Infinity Stones is the one the movies will continue living in, and in the Ancient One scene she talks about how the Infinity Stones protect the universe.
One of my favorite parts of the movie was at the very beginning with Tony letting Nebula win the football game. He wouldn't have known it, but it might have been the first time anyone has casually let Nebula win anything.
Gamora never let her win, And tony was the first person in her life to let her feel like she accomplished something even if it was that small, God I love the scene even more now
I love it sooo much. Tony was always just walking around and quietly addressing and "fixing" the "broken" things, even people. Nebula need fun and acceptance, he gave her that. For godsakes she SMILED. Nebula in this movie was so awesome. My favorite was right in the beginning. She lets Tony finish the food and then gets him in the chair so he's more comfortable. Before she walks away, she bows her head to him. Ultimate respect.
I actually love Nebula in this movie. She's always been an entertaining character (the "it isn't ripe yet" joke from GOTG2 always gets me), but in Endgame she's just on a whole other level. Her emotional journey from where she was at the beginning of GOTG to becoming one of the Avengers is just amazing, and Karen Gillan portrayed it all perfectly. She still acts emotionally distant, but you can tell how grateful she is to finally have a family.
CinemaWins: There are even empty shots in the logos where the dusted heroes should be. It really cements what a crushing defeat our heroes suffered from the last Avengers movie. CinemaSins: 45 seconds of logos!
Alliyah Jane Caelestis cinemasins actually does a lot of research.... that quote comes from the fact that a movie shouldn't be judged based on the book
One win you missed in my opinion is Nebula's subtle reaction during her paper football game when Tony said "Aaaand you've won". Her face and posture all convey shock because she's never truly won anything before in her life, especially after losing to her sister in battle every time when they were growing up. I really hope you go in depth on the score in the conclusion too since it might be my favorite part of this film. Portals is obviously a fantastic piece, but the callbacks in score to previous MCU films is the real highlight for me. Captain America: The First Avenger score when he gives the shield to Sam and gets it back from Tony, the same music during the "passing the gauntlet" segment in the final battle as the first car chase in The Avengers, the same score when Thanos is about to snap as The Avengers when Tony takes the nuke to space, etc. Really amazing continuity and I love the thought that was put into it.
Especially the actual plot. It's really quite amazing. Honestly, it makes total sense that time travel is invented in 5 minutes and that there was no rules for it whatsoever, and the few fake rules they did make up they violated in the final battle of the movie (i.e gamora coming back). Truly wonderful. People freak out so much over the nostalgic parts of the movie that they forget about how garbage and fake this movie actually was.
@@Nope-sj7es. I just think that Avengers fans blow it way out of proportion. Coming from more of a casual fan, I thought it was much worse then the marvel fans made it out to be. It also triggers me when they make up very...peculiar theories about what a character did or meant at a certain time when the directors didn't say that they meant it or it wasn't even clear they even intended it. Yes, you can see Nebula's posture stiffen a bit; but to me, a none-marvel-fanboy (which is actually probably the majority of your fanbase) it seems just like she was kind of bored with it and still trying to understand it. Not really that she "won it and her face and posture shows her shock at having won something for the first time in her life". My apologies, if my comments are making you sad that I'll stop. I'm very glad you pair have enjoyed the movie, and I'm not one to hinder that. I'm merely leaving my own opinions on the subject. Looking back, I should have been more gentle with the way I presented it, and I'm sorry about that. Have a good one.
There's another blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment during the game where Nebula has a little smile on her face. She's enjoying herself. It's both sweet and sad, because you see the woman she might have been if Thanos had never started "perfecting" her, and the one she's evolving into now that she's out from under him.
Loyal wow you sir are an idiot. A shocked reaction from Nebula to finally winning something must mean nothing. You call all of the fanbase marvel-fanboys which is not true and better than being an angry idiot who complains at people for acknowledging something in the movie
Someone interestingly said that Tony was always looking for a solution for the time travel, but couldn't find the solution. Then looking at the upside-down fake certificate helped him have an epiphany. Dead step son helping!
One dark thought.. how many people committed suicide because they lost someone close, not knowing that one they had lost would be back. Or the ones coming back discovering that the ones they had left behind wouldn't be there when they returned.
Also people in cars/planes that will come back in mid air/traffic, people lost during wars and riots and starvation, they left the world much much worse, but hey, Morgan gets to live, so it's fine😂
@@dellytancyl524 I was going to point that out as well. He's not quite as old as the original commenter suggests. Also, it's unlikely that five years, even for someone who's 1500 years old, wouldn't feel like five years. Time isn't that subjective, even for gods.
One little detail that gets a win from me is how Tony's daughter, as soon as he picks her up during the first visit from the others, VISIBLY turns away from the others, refusing to look at them, even though it's obvious she's not scared by them. She can tell her daddy doesn't like them for some reason, and is thus not giving them her time or attention. It's a wonderful little detail that helped sell her and Tony's relationship for me: kids pick up on a LOT more than what most adults expect, and kids are especially perceptive of their parents' moods, turning Tony's guarded mood into outright dismissal from his daughter. Brilliant.
Ugh, that scene killed me!! And the way that Steve starts to go to help Tony before Pepper does, but stops himself because he knows Tony's probably still mad at him and won't want his help? MY HEART!!
Don't forget y'all - there's a Part 2. He always wraps back around to the more poignant moments to discuss the themes of the whole movie. He may not come back to this, but I'm giving our guy the benefit of the doubt. :)
The scene between Banner and the Ancient One is my favorite in the Endgame, and your explanation regarding Strange sending a coded message thru time and space made it just more awesome.
My theory was that Strange and the gang had to fight Thanos first because he needed Tony to be put in mortal peril. Strange needed Tony in peril so he'd have an excuse to offer up the stone in exchange for his life. The exchange would ensure that Tony would be exempted from the snap because Thanos was a man of his word and it would've been dishonest to agree to spare him for the stone and then use the stone to dust him. Strange knew Tony was the only one who could figure out time travel so he needed a 100% guarantee that Tony would survive the snap. Nebula and Thor were likewise exempted from the snap because of Loki and Gamora's compromises, allowing them to go on to play vital roles in the time heist and following battle. But Wanda and Star-Lord got dusted and the loved ones they tried to sacrifice to stop Thanos ended up dying "permanently" and in vain.
Thanos was inevitable he was going to get the time stone on titan no matter what, atleast when strange gave it up it was for a good reason to save Tony's life
@@officerspooder Agreed. Infinity War basically telegraphed this to us as well; At the start you have Strange saying he will protect the Time stone at all costs, even at the expense of their lives. Strange says "we're in the End game now..." Then Thanos threatens Tony's life and he's like "Ok" and hands it over... obviously, because he'd already seen that it was their only chance.
I always took Nat’s “Only for conversation” line to be a reference to her spy days, in that she likely would have infiltrated some sort of base, and in order to get in there, she may have to sweet talk scientists by talking about things they already know, ie quantum physics.
@@geneparmesan8748 I'd guess you're probably right. Kinda cool that such a simple, short, throwaway gag could be taken in so many directions though, huh? Doubt that was planned and deliberate, but I think it's pretty cool anyway.
While it’s perfectly reasonable and even just common sense to assume that Tony Stark would do the right thing, I like to believe there’s also a subtle callback to civil war in his scene talking with pepper about time travel. After looking at the picture of him and peter, he decides to entertain an inkling of an idea to crack the time travel case. After finding he can do it, he still weighs his discovery against the chance that he could lose everything he’s gained in the last five years. He could easily just drop it. No one would ever know, and he would move on with his life. Outside the “but can you rest?” line, there’s another line I believe he dwells on. When he first meets Spider-Man, Peter says “when you can do the things I can do, and you don’t, and then the bad things happen... that’s on you”. And I’ll be damned if that doesn’t apply directly to Tony being literally the only one capable of figuring out time travel in under 5 minutes! I think he was operating on his own motivation for the greater good, validated by pepper’s understandings of his morality, and motivated by both the loss and wise words of a kid he saw as his own.
It reminds me of one of the last words of the Twelfth Doctor (from Doctor Who): "Can't I ever rest? Can't I ever have peace?" And like with Tony Stark, the response is the same: it's your choice. It's his choice to settle down somewhere and retire from saving the world or (in The Doctor's case) the entire fuckin' universe.
Has anyone figured out the math for the GOTG being alive percentage? (1:24) The range that CinemaWins gave was 62.5% to 87.5%. 62.5% equals to 5/8 guardians dead, and 87.5% equals to 7/8 of the guardians dead. I think that he definitely counted these guardians, as they were the current group of guardians at the start of infinity war. 1. Star Lord 2. Gamora 3. Drax 4. Rocket 5. Groot 6. Mantis However, if you want to consider other characters as guardians, you can also consider 7. The Original Groot 8. Yondu 9. Nebula 10. Thor From the first 6 guardians, already 5 of them died. To minimise the death count, you can count in Nebula and Thor as guardians. Since they both survived the snap thanks to their siblings, the death percentage would be 5/8, 62.5%. Next, to maximise the death count, you can count in Yondu and the original Groot instead, as they both died in GOTG 1 and 2 respectively. The death percentage would be as high as 7/8, or 87.5%, as only rocket survived. Option A (62.5%): 1. Star Lord (Dusted) 2. Gamora (Yeeted off a cliff) 3. Drax (Dusted) 4. Rocket (Survived) 5. Groot (Dusted) 6. Mantis (Dusted) 7. Nebula (Survived) 8. Thor (Survived) Option B (87.5%): 1. Star Lord (Dusted) 2. Gamora (Yeeted off a cliff) 3. Drax (Dusted) 4. Rocket (Survived) 5. Groot (Dusted) 6. Mantis (Dusted) 7. The Original Groot (Crashed into Xandar) 8. Yondu (Mary-Poppined himself into space without oxygen) This is my attempt at the maths, because I scrolled through the comments and could not find anyone else doing the maths. If someone else HAS done it, sorry and I promise I'm not copying you :) (Edit) Thanks for all the likes guys I really appreciate it :D Also just want to clarify that I think option B was made to count the main guardians from ONLY the first two guardians movies, that's why it includes the original Groot and Yondu. Meanwhile option A was made to count the guardians at the end of Endgame, and supposedly at the start of guardians vol. 3, since Gamora is technically alive now, and Nebula and Thor seem to have joined the group too.
I love what you pointed out about Nat’s red roots growing out. Not only is it consistent with her character but it’s symbolic of what the snap has done to her. All this loss stripped everything away. There’s nothing left to hide behind and no reason left to hide.
Disappointed that there wasnt a win added for Tony's line when giving Cap his shield back. "Why? He made it for you". A brilliant yet subtle callback to their fight in Civil War "that shield doesnt belong to you, my father made that shield"
What I love about Thor’s “I went for the head” is that it’s the perfect representation of an angsty teenager who wants to appear strong to his friends and family, but really he’s dying on the inside. Probably the most emotional scene of the movie for me
Also idk if you were thinking this, but he’s also basically a teenager in his race 1500 and id assume he’ll live to about 7000-10,000 years and he’s practically 15 years old
I really wish you would've commented on Tony in the beginning when he said "I lost the kid" and "I said we'd lose. And you said 'we'll do that together too' " and all that
Hands down one of my favorite scenes and pieces of cinematography was when Scott was running to his old house. In the cinemas, I could feel the panic and hopefulness of Cassie being alive bc the audience didn’t know either. And also, thank you for acknowledging such a great indie tracking shot. The score had me on edge too.
One thing I noticed that I really like is when Tony comforts Strange after he comes back from his 14,000,605 future visions. Tony reassures Strange that he's back in the present because with PTSD, he's probably also spent many nightmares back in the cave in Afghanistan and the Battle of New York and probably has woken up a lot not knowing if he was back in reality or not. He didn't even know what Strange was doing but could understand Strange had lost touch with their reality for a moment and Tony understands that all to well and gave Strange what had helped him during those nights. Reassuring him that yes, he was back. He was safe. (For the moment at least). I think it was a beautiful underappreciated moment for Tony's character.
12:42 I like to think that Scott is actually smiling because he is so used to Luis's rambling explanations that this is perfectly understandable to him.
Andrew Winn I also like to think that he doesn’t really know the story as well as everyone else probably does since he only teamed up with them for Civil War so he’s actually a little intrigued as to what Thor has to say.
Something you missed, when clint comes back from his farm, Scott's actually holding orange slices if you pause at the right moment, which is a reference to civil war.
"He was like this all along guys, you just didn't see it." Honestly, I think you're right. There's was always an element of goofiness to the MCU Thor. Whether intentional or Chris Hemsworth is just better with goofy than stoic, the "bro" personality from Ragnarok was consistent. It increased with each movie, until Ragnarok focused on it much more.
That's what I've always thought too. I don't really agree with the idea that Ragnarok is a reboot. From the first film Hemsworth's Thor has always been a bit goofy, a little dumb (no shade), and a fish out of water. Taika cranked it up, but it was always there, even in The Dark World which went for a more epic Game of Thrones-like tone.
I never cared for the goofy element. For me, he wasn't at all relatable as a character (I say that in response to people saying that Ragnarok made him more relatable). Perhaps it's my taste in humor, but I never enjoyed that type of goofiness. I personally prefer to see Thor as a noble warrior, who is honored yet burdened by the responsibility as a protector. Powerful not just in strength, but in presence. I didn't have a problem with Thor being so depressed that he gained weight in Endgame, but how he never stops being silly and existing as a joke, even if it's using humor to avoid facing reality. When someone uses humor like that, they have learn to be serious when the moment calls for it. With this exaggerated Thor, I don't remotely see him as a hero, but as some obnoxious idiot who needs to get out of his own head.
Samuel Keller I’m not sure I’ve got a single disagreement with your POV. I thought that Ragnarok’s tone was particularly problematic considering all that Thor lost. Too bad they didn’t know how to commit to a tone.
I’ll never forget seeing this movie on opening night (as I did with infinity war) and the audience’s reactions to all the big moments, and the small ones too, like all of the gasps at “five years later”
I hope when you get to the return of the fallen, and the movie's ending, you give the following wins for certain continuity points regarding the Falcon and Cap (besides "On your left", of course): 1. Falcon was chronologically the last hero we saw disappear (assuming all locations started getting dusted at the same time), and the first one we heard return. 2. Steve spent the time skip taking on Sam's old job of being a PTSD counselor, an implicit suggestion that Sam had the right mix of qualities to be Cap in and out of costume, beyond just punching one's way out of problems, as Natasha stated in Civil War. Bonus: Endgame was also the completion of the set of movies Marcus, McFeely, the Russos, and Feige all worked on together. They ended it the same way they started, in reverse. Going from duty calling, to a quiet moment between Steve and Sam, then Steve getting one of those moments he missed. I wonder if Steve was waiting to share Trouble Man with Peggy when it came out.
Surprised you didn't talk about two things: The opening with the Avengers score, there's only half the instruments And when Morgan says love you 3000, that's in response to Tony says I love you a ton. Since a ton = 2000, it's her way of saying, I love you more
I never thought about it this way. Always did think she meant it as 3000 lbs. Which is more than 1 ton. BUT since Tony said "tons", having her mean 3000 tons; makes so much more sense.
2:43 Actually, in the opening title, half of the instruments are muted, that’s why you hear the other instruments a bit more, therefore the score sounds different, making you feel that other instruments are added when it’s actually just you hearing more quiet instruments that you didn’t hear before because of the full orchestra.
Thanos 1 It’s not you, it was definitely intentional. He’s clearly thinking “If I had only done that earlier, we could have avoided all of this. This is my fault, and I can’t even find satisfaction in killing this empty husk before me.”
It always killed me that in the theater people laughed at that line. It wasn’t meant to be comedic to me, it was meant to be a devastating moment for him.
When Morgan says “I love you 3000” and tony brags about it to pepper about how she was only loved a ton, I saw that as a ton is 2000 and 3000 is more than a ton so, Morgan is smart like her father and just flexed on her mother.
Garrett Morrison I did mess it up but what I mean is that when he says tons, a ton is 2000 and she says I love you 3000, showing she’s smart, that’s what I meant.
@@Luke-ii6kv that's insider knowledge fans who really dedicate their time to the mcu would know. to the regular movie goer, it does imply that morgan is smarter than the average 5 year old... they definitely don't know or wouldn't care to remember a ton only weighs 2000 pounds.
@@bri9100 To the regular movie goer they wouldn't care to think "oh this 5 yr old doesnt say tons bc/ it just means alot she says it because she knows the metric system and understands it is more them what iron man said" lol!
Back in 2008, my friends who never read comics: 'We like iron man because he's a realistic superhero.' In Endgame, Tony Stark is interacting with a talking racoon like he was Garfield and my same friends thinks its just normal. Great job, MCU! Very well done.
I was always more of a SciFi guy. I freaking loved how realistic they made Iron Man in the first 2 movies, it was more of a SciFi movie than Cartoon Hero movie. (the Arc Reactor is basically the same thing as a Warp Core, impossible amount of power at a small convenient scale that makes all other fantastic tech possible). By Iron Man 3 they lost a good chunk of that realism... (how do those individual parts of the Armor fly? Without being connected to the power source which is the Arc Reactor? How do you make parts fly this fast and navigate that have no aerodynamics like a faceplate or a hand? Where is the fuel for these little thrusters coming from? (i can maybe just about accept that they manage to hover in the air, but they fly MILES at high speeds in the movie, that is just... no!) None of that tech makes much sense anymore.) When i look at Ultron in age of Ultron it is the same thing, that guy must way several tons, yet he hovers in mid air like a magical cartoon Super Hero ...and he has the tiniest thrusters i've ever seen, to get that guy in the air it would require a ton of thrust and there'd be so much smoke you couldn't see him anymore. I absolutely do have my issues with the realism of Avengers post Iron Man 2 and Avengers. Then the final battle in IM3 was absolutely terrible, most of the Armors were only shown for a few frames, they all deserved much more Screentime, but the worst part is that the enemies were literally ripping out handrailing, yellow metal sticks, throwing them at the armors and they instantly exploded, you can only really it if you watch it in slow motion, analyze it frame by frame, the stuff is cut so fast you don't even see why they explode. It is a lame final battle for a movie and it is cut so fast you don't understand what is going on, just bad. So we are going from taking a Tank Shell in Iron Man 1, turning around and shooting a missile back at it and shrugging it off, to exploding armors that get hit by yellow aluminum sticks. ...and it all makes sense when you get told that the dude who made the first 2 movies is not the dude who made the third. The shift in tone and reduced realism is just sad. But really they dumbed down the Armros for IM3 because the villains were just not powerful enough, they could have shot laserbeams out of their eyes instead of throwing yellow hand rails and i would not have had a problem with any of it. But they decided to make the Iron Man Armors suck... and that i don't appreciate after 2 movies of building it up as this awesome piece of tech. I still love every Iron Man and Avengers movie, but you know... pet peeves and nitpicks.
But that's why I love the MCU, the heroes feel real. They make mistakes, have jokes, banter, all of that. I can't say much for DC heroes because I only have watched Wonder Woman but still she seemed like she was written to be a charming, over-achieving hero and it didn't feel as authentic. Even if the characters could never be real, the writing is done so well in the MCU that it truly feels like they are. (Okay I can't say they all will never be real, it's inevitable that militaries could all have Captain America type soldiers and/or Iron Man suits for every soldier in like 200 years.)
@@ImThe5thKing That's why I was always a bigger fan of Marvel growing up. So many heroes were just everyday people, Cap was a kid with a good heart, Spider-man and Hulk were victims of circumstance, all of the X-men never asked for powers. Sure some, like Tony and Thor, are super because of what they had before, both were born into power, but there are not that many that fit the criteria. As a kid it was one of those things where you can imagine that tomorrow you'll be bit by a radioactive spider, or you will start developing some power around puberty. I'd be a liar if I said that wasn't a big reason why i like them today.

He wasn't spoiling a future event. Tony getting married would be a big deal and likely plastered all over every media outlet available. Strange probably saw or heard the announcement somewhere. That's all.

The whole thing with Strange letting Thanos have the time stone so the ancient one would realize this is the only way is so underappreciated I love that so much.
That’s why this movie will sweep the technical awards at the Oscars... VFX, Production Design, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Original Score are locks
I assume that only applies to living animals, so meat would not disappear. All non-meat foods would stay as well, alongside all other resources. So Thanos didn't completely mess up.

I never looked at it that way until he explained it but it makes sense, The Ancient One might have never given Banner the Stone if She knew it was taken by Thanos, but knowing Strange gave it willingly to Thanos she must have understood Strange had a plan
Yes, simple as that - she learned from what Bruce said. That's how she knew it was right to give Banner the stone. But she could indeed see the future enough to know what Dr Strange would become - and that he would be "the best of us".
Tony: "Why did you do that?" Strange: *"There was no other way."* Tony: "You mean you couldn't have teleported Starlord away? Cut off his arm? Reverse Thanos through time into a baby?" Strange: "....well damn, Sherlock. Do you want me to bargain as well?"

And I kinda wish the entire scene where Tony was taken in the avengers tower, and started rambling was included, and not just the last bit. Amazing performance from RDJ, the god.
14:22 It's worth noting that there's also a bit of irony there. Thanos's obsession with his own plan keeps him from doing anything else, like just doubling everything.
I hope you reference back to OG Avengers when Bruce said to Tony, “So you’re saying the Hulk... the other guy, saved my life? For what?” And Tony replied, “Guess we’ll find out.” AND WE DO IN ENDGAME.
Whoever plays Cassie is so good. She's on screen for like 10 seconds, but the disbelief, then joy that passes over her face made me feel that emotional journey. I look forward to her joining the superhero team in the future.
“I am inevitable.” Proves all the more how narcissistic and blind Thanos is that he believes his way is right and the only way that is right (“Im the only one who knows it; ...the only one...with the will to act on it.”). It makes his sudden “...shred this universe down to its last atom” plan towards the end more believable. His first plan didn’t work, therefore, because he’s so selfish and narcissistic that people weren’t thankful for what he did, he immediately has to come out and destroy the universe so he can make one where people are. (Someone else in the comments pointed out how it’s also similar to his “Destiny still arrives...or should I say I HAVE” line in IW.)

Im virgin.
when she and hawkeye were fighting over who to die, in my mind, i already expected it to be her because i know that sacrificing herself is what she would want. while the other og avengers were already trying their best to move on and live their best life, she was the only one who still had hope and a strong fire to try and reverse things. she was ready to die for a noble cause and i expected it.
but i still couldn't stop the water works and the ugly butterflies in my stomach when i saw her fall and land on the ground.
nah, her death was random as hell, it was more like wtf why
Worth two points is the first thing Tony says to Steve when he landed
"I lost the kid"
No.
That's kinda reaching. I think an even better line would to acknowledge his relationship with Cap, since the last time they seen eachothers, they were enemies.
And then, much later, when he gets pissed at Cap for not being with him, he say something like, "And because of you, I lost the kid."

I only ever saw her as a really great secondary character, but ScarJo and Karen Gilligan really shined this movie. Everybody brought their A-Game to Endgame.
Agreed! That scene was on point. VERY believable, and shines HUGE light on her character!
victoria danesino, She's A Quality Actor!!! She Adds So Much Depth To Her Character!!! A Win Missed Eating Sandwich Scene!!!!
It's simple organizational brilliance like that that makes the MCU harmonize so well. They actually put that much thought into the details.

"Tony, I don't know."
"Why not? He made it for you."

There is *so much* in that quick moment; Steve's reluctance to be "the hero" again; Tony's acceptance of his dad's obsession/hero worship, and his acknowledgment that Steve is more than just the man with the shield, but he deserves to carry it; Steve's guilt over everything that's even partially related to him and the legend he created; and the true reconciliation of the break in Civil War. Just... quiet, simple, absolutely stellar moment for both.
"Strange, he gave it away."
"Willingly?"
"Yes!"
"...Why?"
And in that moment, the Ancient One was all of us theorizing about Infinity War for a damn year.

Gamora never let her win,
And tony was the first person in her life to let her feel like she accomplished something even if it was that small,

There's another blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment during the game where Nebula has a little smile on her face. She's enjoying herself. It's both sweet and sad, because you see the woman she might have been if Thanos had never started "perfecting" her, and the one she's evolving into now that she's out from under him.

Brilliant.

The scene between Banner and the Ancient One is my favorite in the Endgame, and your explanation regarding Strange sending a coded message thru time and space made it just more awesome.
He skipped over the part where Tony tells Steve "I lost the kid". That part got me in the feels. 😥
Finally someone acknowledges that Strange gave up the stone so the Ancient One would as well.
KoopaKoot And also so that Tony would survive and be ready to sacrifice himself.
Thanos was inevitable he was going to get the time stone on titan no matter what, atleast when strange gave it up it was for a good reason to save Tony's life
@@RandomJayne I agree. Strange basically saw everything that needed to happen and then tried his best to make sure it did.

The range that CinemaWins gave was 62.5% to 87.5%.
62.5% equals to 5/8 guardians dead, and 87.5% equals to 7/8 of the guardians dead.
I think that he definitely counted these guardians, as they were the current group of guardians at the start of infinity war.
1. Star Lord
2. Gamora
3. Drax
4. Rocket
5. Groot
6. Mantis
However, if you want to consider other characters as guardians, you can also consider
7. The Original Groot
8. Yondu
9. Nebula
10. Thor
From the first 6 guardians, already 5 of them died. To minimise the death count, you can count in Nebula and Thor as guardians. Since they both survived the snap thanks to their siblings, the death percentage would be 5/8, 62.5%.
Next, to maximise the death count, you can count in Yondu and the original Groot instead,
as they both died in GOTG 1 and 2 respectively. The death percentage would be as high as 7/8, or 87.5%, as only rocket survived.
Option A (62.5%):
1. Star Lord
(Dusted)
2. Gamora
(Yeeted off a cliff)
3. Drax
(Dusted)
4. Rocket
(Survived)
5. Groot
(Dusted)
6. Mantis (Dusted)
7. Nebula (Survived)
8. Thor (Survived)
Option B (87.5%):
1. Star Lord
(Dusted)
2. Gamora
(Yeeted off a cliff)
3. Drax
(Dusted)
4. Rocket
(Survived)
5. Groot
(Dusted)
6. Mantis (Dusted)
7. The Original Groot (Crashed into Xandar)
8. Yondu (Mary-Poppined himself into space without oxygen)
This is my attempt at the maths, because I scrolled through the comments and could not find anyone else doing the maths. If someone else HAS done it, sorry and I promise I'm not copying you :)
(Edit)
Thanks for all the likes guys I really appreciate it :D
Also just want to clarify that I think option B was made to count the main guardians from ONLY the first two guardians movies, that's why it includes the original Groot and Yondu.
Meanwhile option A was made to count the guardians at the end of Endgame, and supposedly at the start of guardians vol. 3, since Gamora is technically alive now, and Nebula and Thor seem to have joined the group too.
Thanks

Damn, didn't think of that. It makes sense though, Luis definitely should be the next Thor(after Jane, of course).
I hope when you get to the return of the fallen, and the movie's ending, you give the following wins for certain continuity points regarding the Falcon and Cap (besides "On your left", of course):

@@andiran23 Same here.
Surprised you didn't talk about two things:
The opening with the Avengers score, there's only half the instruments
And when Morgan says love you 3000, that's in response to Tony says I love you a ton. Since a ton = 2000, it's her way of saying, I love you more
a ton is just 1000kg though...
Gathoblaster but it’s roughly 2200 pounds
he says "love you tonnes" plural, so the kg measurement still works.
I think she just meant 3000 tons not 3000 pounds which would be more logical since tony said i love you tons

When Morgan says “I love you 3000” and tony brags about it to pepper about how she was only loved a ton, I saw that as a ton is 2000 and 3000 is more than a ton so, Morgan is smart like her father and just flexed on her mother.
I get what you're saying but Tony was the one who said "love you tons" to Morgan. Tony then said to Pepper that she was in the "low 6 to 900 range."

In Endgame, Tony Stark is interacting with a talking racoon like he was Garfield and my same friends thinks its just normal.
(i can maybe just about accept that they manage to hover in the air, but they fly MILES at high speeds in the movie, that is just... no!) None of that tech makes much sense anymore.)
When i look at Ultron in age of Ultron it is the same thing, that guy must way several tons, yet he hovers in mid air like a magical cartoon Super Hero ...and he has the tiniest thrusters i've ever seen, to get that guy in the air it would require a ton of thrust and there'd be so much smoke you couldn't see him anymore.
*Thanos* You've Shown Me That Is Impossible...
incog nitor Thanos: inevitable.
Part 2 will be possible.
Your god damn right
Impossible...
When you realize half of the orchestra is missing for the logo music.
D: WHHAAAAAA???
Omfgggggg
I missed that and the missing Marvel characters!...I think...though, I might be just missing half of my memory.
Half..
lf.
They didn't have the logo music, did they?
Everyone in my theater went “Whattt? Seriously??!” As soon as the five years later title card was shown on screen.
everyone in my theater was dead as a fucking doornail. And one lady had the nerve to shoosh me during the portal theme. I about slapped her
@@abigailcarroll6982civil war in theater audience
Why was everyone so ""shocked" just because they decided to pass some time in a movie? So many movies do that.
JDM12983 Mainly because that we didn’t expect our characters to live with their failures and now they’re living in a world where 1/2 of the world is gone
Everyone in mine went “ohhh noooo” under their breath
The whole thing with Strange letting Thanos have the time stone so the ancient one would realize this is the only way is so underappreciated I love that so much.
Another win to add in the opening: When the *snap happens, the sound of birds is almost cut off
Yeah, sound editing on opening is phenomenal. Sets tone of the movie so perfectly.
That’s why this movie will sweep the technical awards at the Oscars... VFX, Production Design, Sound Mixing, Sound Editing and Original Score are locks
So wait the snap also killed animals? Wouldn’t that half all of the food sources making Thanos’ plan completely asinine?
That opening scene with Hawkeye's family getting dusted was definitely the way to go, a great way to start off this movie
I assume that only applies to living animals, so meat would not disappear. All non-meat foods would stay as well, alongside all other resources. So Thanos didn't completely mess up.
"See you in a minute :D "
**literally subtracts a win**
we all felt that :'(
He didn't substract it (still 98), he added one and then removed it in like a millisecond
@@taysem321 ye ye and everyone saw it too uwu
Baby at the end:
All together:
AAAAwwwwwww
Anyone else waiting for "on your left"?
Meantime, here's tiny guy being tiny.
2:49
I was watching this movie with my Mom, Aunt, and little brother Noah.
When this moment came up, Noah literally said, "Language" out loud in the theater and everyone laughed.
11:40
Rhodey goes back in time to find baby Thanos and kills him, then returns to present day
BOOM YOU LOOKING FOR THIS!?
Cam Nunes oh god Rhodes what did you do...?
*none of the avengers laugh*
Rhodes: Oh cmon the others (the guardians) found that funny!
fun fact: in comics thanos mother try to kill the moment she saw him because in world humanoid god beings
one might freak out over giving birth to a deviant creater so i call that bit of a reference
Tony: "Ratchet how's it going?"'
RR: "It's Rocket. Take it easy, you're only a genius on earth pal,"
🔥🔥🔥
And confirmation that Tony is a PlayStation guy. Lol!😆
Well, any genius in space didn't figure out time travel.
Well Tony Stark figured out time travel, so he is the head of the genius school and is the most intelligent person.
Found out nanotech on his own (yes people in space have already but they most likely had tons of experts and high tech materials and whatnot)
And time travel, repulsor technology, missles that only need to be fired once and you'd have demolished Hiroshima twice as much, and pair of glasses with a name associating to what would be his upcoming death
@@person43 None of their nano tech like what Starlord uses for his Aero Rig and mask even does anything. They might have figured out nano tech before using a ton of people and resources, but none of them have used it in such an impact as Tony did.
"Strange knew he had to give the stone willingly to Thanos, it couldn't be taken because then the Ancient One wouldnt have known Strange saw the only out come in which they win"
...
*wait*
"Why did you do that?"
*"There was no other way."*
I never looked at it that way until he explained it but it makes sense, The Ancient One might have never given Banner the Stone if She knew it was taken by Thanos, but knowing Strange gave it willingly to Thanos she must have understood Strange had a plan
Jay Moncrief it’s almost like Dr. Strange, through Bruce Banner, is communicating to the Ancient One the plan for victory.
Yes, simple as that - she learned from what Bruce said. That's how she knew it was right to give Banner the stone. But she could indeed see the future enough to know what Dr Strange would become - and that he would be "the best of us".
Tony: "Why did you do that?"
Strange: *"There was no other way."*
Tony: "You mean you couldn't have teleported Starlord away? Cut off his arm? Reverse Thanos through time into a baby?"
Strange: "....well damn, Sherlock. Do you want me to bargain as well?"
@@dr.boring7022 maybe thanos was strong enough to recover the gauntlet and thats why that would not have worked
10:10 I never noticed the sparks coming from the car! Makes sense as I bet the suspension wasn't designed for a hulk.
When he said that peter was Tony’s surrogate son I just started crying. Like I know it and have always known it. But each time I hear it, it just hurts
Dab
Me watching an everything great with marvel video: "I can do this all day"
Side note; I've seen the video like 5-6 times now? And I kinda wish the entire scene where Tony was taken in the avengers tower, and started rambling was included, and not just the last bit. Amazing performance from RDJ, the god.
and i have done it all day lol
Yeah, I know. I know.
You totally need to run past your baby boy and tell him:
"On your left."
14:22 It's worth noting that there's also a bit of irony there. Thanos's obsession with his own plan keeps him from doing anything else, like just doubling everything.
"Part 2 will be published Friday, Oct 11, 2019"
But when will you publish parts 3, 4, and 5?
October 11th? Cool.
Something to watch after "El Camino".

I hope you reference back to OG Avengers when Bruce said to Tony, “So you’re saying the Hulk... the other guy, saved my life? For what?” And Tony replied, “Guess we’ll find out.”
AND WE DO IN ENDGAME.
Literally what popped in my head when hulk said he was made for it. I thought Tony was going to say something that referenced that scene
Yeah, that was something that blew my mind too. :)
Whoever plays Cassie is so good. She's on screen for like 10 seconds, but the disbelief, then joy that passes over her face made me feel that emotional journey. I look forward to her joining the superhero team in the future.
This aged poorly
Today, October 6, 2019, is a major milestone for you: having one of your videos trending on UA-cam, and at #14, no less! I have been a fan of your work ever since I subscribed to your channel in 2017. I know it was never your intention to become this big on UA-cam when you first started out, but I just had to congratulate you! I, like you, always like to see the good in movies and people. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face every time you do a movie that I love! I also hope that you and your family have a great life, so never be afraid to take some time off your videos! I love your channel 3000!
Oof
He deserves it
2:57 you also forget that this camera angle reflect’s Tony’s when he went to space in the first Avengers
I never even thought about that!
Rest in peace Chadwick Boseman, you will be greatly missed.

RIP. He will be missed.
Potentially missed win: Apparently the time travel suits they're wearing before actually going back in time are fully CG, and you can't even notice.
Seems like kind of a waste of money.
@@babyyoshi3099 not really because they had to film around the actor's schedules and the only way to do that was to film IW and EG back to back. However, that meant that they just did not have time to design the suits. They literally just didn't have any other choice.
Atom Sorcerer Aside from the obvious nanotech-y helmets being CG, I would’ve never noticed the whole suit was CGI. After seeing their CGI process for Professor Hulk though, I’m not impressed. These mfs at Marvel Studios have it mastered. Except BP tho lol
Once you know this, you can kind of see it in the close up of Clint's boots when he goes back to his farm. It's a little too smooth for anything physically there, but that's about it
