    I enjoy your videos a lot! In Canada, we use a spray called Jig-a-loo, which is a graphite lubricant, It is essentially just graphite in acetone, in a rattle can. You spray it on, the acetone evacporates, and the finish is perfect. Perhaps you can find it where you live.

    this is a super informative and fantastic video. The last time I tried electroplating I had such a difficult time, and ultimately gave up. This makes me want to give it another go. Great work!

    You should try using 99% Zinc weld through paint, it is basically zinc particles suspended in a water proof paint and when you spray it on you buff it with steal / copper wool and it comes to a very shiny silver and it is good to go, 99% zinc is what i always use when electro plating plastic

      Hello, can you explain to me how you did this? Do you mix the zinc into the paint or do you apply it directly like conductive copper paint?

      @@sezer3671 You could make it but the one I used was pre-made and in a spray can, you can also get pre made copper or silver conductive paint but those are really expensive, the 99% zinc one is really cheap as it is really used as a conductive weld through primer, the stuff i got is E-TECH Ultra Zinc Primer,

    Thanks for a very informative video. You asked for recommendations on how to make the streamline the "nerve system" part of the process.
    Have you considered using a series connection instead of parallel? Glue one single wire run around an edge, spot glued with the insulation scraped at those points.
    And I suspect one per each eye hole would also go a long way to speeding up the plating of that piece.

      Wouldn't such a single long wire with scrapped contact points in series cause too much voltage drop (same phenomenon as seen in LED strips that are too long)? Especially considering that the nominal voltage for electroplating is already very low to being with.

      ​@@fluxcapacitor Not at the low currents being used in this process, the system (unlike LEDs) does not care what the voltage is, and it is a constant current source anyway. And besides, any extra resistance of the wire is irrelevant when compared to the resistance of the "paint".
      Does that make sense to you?

    have you tried using anti corrosion zinc spray for getting a conductive surface? might be worth a shot

    did you coniser using a sandblaster for the smoothness of the part ? it could produce superior results and thus enhance the quality of the electroplating

    I wonder how well a rock tumbler filled with graphite powder would work for applying the conductive layer…

    the electrolyte should be something that keeps any oxide layer away (or bubbles hydrogen to remove the oxide layer to water, leaving metal), like SnO to Sn (so alternating hydrogen/copper evolution in the same process electrolysis-plating cell)

      silver conductive paint by a brush will attach to most surfaces directly and is electroplatable directly

      you could laser the surface to conductive graphene (capton tape the whole model, melt to make a nice fit)

      you could also just graphite pencil "paint" the whole thing

    Did you experience any problems with your electroplated layers seperating or delaminating in use?
