I feel like my problem is the filter on the adapter. My output of water pressure is low with the adapter on. I have the SandPro 75d filter. Plenty of pressure flowing through it. I also taped my spin wheels with aluminum tape. It glides now.

How did you tape the wheels and is it working still

Could be one of two problems, Small cup style screen filter at your return is restricted with algae or you have your pump on filter.Pump is to small for that cleaner. I have the same pump and i run mine on recirculate when using this cleaner. This cleaner is for removing trash only not to filter the water. Note that small cup screen if you have algae you will have to clean it often.

I had that cleaner one time too. It’s garbage. I have the dolphin e10. Nothing does better than the dolphin.

I've had this same issue that started happening after about the same amount of time. I've taken apart and cleaned the gearbox spotless multiple times, tried different types of lubricant, etc. I have the intex sand filter setup and it cranks out a pretty decent flow rate that worked well for running the cleaner until it didn't. Weird thing is that it works fine and switches directions when it's out of the pool and I'm just running a garden hose through it (with much less pressure), but then it doesn't switch in the pool. It's driving me up the wall. One thing I'm thinking is that if the flow rate is too high, the turbine, gearing, and flapper valve have to temporarily fight against the flow to switch directions, but it can't. Wondering if it gets some slop in the system after some use and it has a harder time doing that

I started having the same issues around the middle of last summer. Trying to get it going again and am having the same issues. Switches gears just fine under a garden hose, but not with my pool filter outlet, which is pretty high pressure

Ive had mine 5 years, no problems. You're not connecting this to suction are you? You've got this connected pressure side and it's not moving? Wondering if you've got a crack in the hose. Is there a divot or high spot in the bottom of the pool? That will make it stop. Are your valves fully open? Is the pump your using gph rated to use the cleaner? Your filter looks small, so I'm thinking your pump is less than the minimum 1600 gph the cleaner needs(and even that is still not quite enough). Intex always packs a pump/filter that is way too small to adequately handle pool they included it with.
