    I love your comment about the Buck bedding!!! There are so many of these UA-cam experts, trying to tell us they know exactly where the Buck is bedding and how to hunt him. GPS has shown us these guys are full of it!
    That Buck may be 2 miles away from that hinge cut
    they made 2 years ago.
    I think bedding in lots of areas is a survival adaptation for Deer.

    I’ve been watching for years and I’ve been beyond grateful the information you have provided me. I have been able to use this information to improve my family’s land into a healthier habitat and harvest the first two deer ever on it. As a first generation hunter the information you’ve put out has been absolutely priceless to me and I’ve always appreciated your faith and hard work. Best of luck Dr. Woods and I hope I get to shake your hand one day

    I’ll guarantee that the same guys upset saying “technology is ruining hunting” are using compound bows, rifles, grunt calls, scent control, ect. I’ve read and watched Grant every week for well over 10 years. Grant is a biologist! This drone information will not change any of his future hunting stands or plans, but does help confirm everything he’s been saying in the past.

      Your guarantee is wrong, I use a traditional bow Martin Mamba to be specific, doesn't have a sight on it, also shoot a muzzle loader with no scope, we don't' run cameras on my property. Search my comments on other hunting channels. So before you pop off about guarantying things that others, that you don't know and have never met, operate. Also, do you know Mr. Grant personally, how can you make a blanket statement about his future hunting stands and plans in relation to the drone work? You can't on both counts. Keep making blanket assumptions and statements of fact about things you have no idea.

    • @michaelcope2329

      Also, I have the intestinal fortitude (guts) to use my real name, why you hiding when making all those statements of assumption as they are facts?

      I wouldn’t say technology is ruining hunting. But when some of us see a technology that can be easily abused, with lots of grey, it should give the hunting community pause. MO already has “like” 8 weeks of gun hunting, a rifle season in the middle of the rut, ability to take multiple bucks, the cheapest tags of the surrounding states and crossbows during all of archery season! There are some of us who appreciate hunting for the challenge…

    I have 4 cell cams on 40 acres. I have friends that fly their properties with drones all the time. I agree during season should be outlawed but some of the comments below are little bit over the top.

    I'm wondering; have you thought about having the drone fella come back after the "fall shift" to see if the bucks really have relocated and to where they've relocated.

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  22 дні тому

      We likely won't do that as that's close to scouting.

    • @buck16
      @buck16 10 днів тому

      @@GrowingDeerTV Yeah I agree they shouldn't be used just prior nor during the season. I just wonder if the supposed shift is real or is it just that bucks get fed up or bothered by trail cameras and start avoiding them. It just seems this supposed shift theory evolved from trail camera use. I also wonder if the bucks travel certain ways when they're in velvet and then once they shed, they start traveling different ways that are thicker and thus don't appear on our trail cameras anymore.

    Technology (in all aspects of outdoor activities) is approaching a level where we all need to take pause and examine whats fair, honest and ethical instead of just embracing every new technology that comes along. The potential for abuse with lots of these things is huge. And rest assured, they will be abused, and it will become widespread.

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  18 днів тому

      I agree that most technology can be abused. This includes lasers, nuclear power, etc. However, the fear of evil should not stop or hinder the good. Rather the good should be willing to stand up to the evil.

    There is a fine line between deer survey and deer scouting with a drone. Even during the act of deer recovery, scouting is occurring in real time. Many deer can be encountered during a drone search for potentially wounded/dead deer. Hunters that have hired someone to drone search for their possibly downed deer are also gathering intel during the search where other trophy deer are, and planning accordingly. Not fair chase in my opinion. I am not against using technology to find and recover a dead deer or do herd surveys out of hunting season, but there are other aspects that are occurring that are in conflict with fair chase during hunting season. Drones can also be used to locate trophy bucks on adjacent properties and bump them out of their beds and herd them to another property. They can also be used to spy on other hunter's activities and stand locations. Drones are prohibited from use on some federal lands here in Kentucky. Lawmakers are looking at other possible activities that might be in conflict with fair chase and privacy issues.

      Kurtdog - Thanks for sharing. This was a month + before deer season opens at my place. You likely know the bachelor groups will bust up by then, most bucks will have shed their velvet, etc. Many will not be in the same portion of their home range. I have no worries about using thermal drones at this time of year. The information gained is both interesting and valuable as a wildlife biologist and habitat manager. GPS collars can provide lots of location information about one deer. Drones give lots of location and behavior information from many deer at one time. To me, both are valid tools!

  • @bmtvrook

    I thought they only made drone recovery legal in Missouri. Is drone deer management now legal in Missouri?

    • @GrowingDeerTV
      @GrowingDeerTV  15 днів тому

      It's been legal to fly drones outside of deer season, to survey deer, for many years.

      Yeah. I just spent 32,000.00 on a thermal drone so I could mow down that 4pt buck on my 40 acre plot. My neighbor in the trailer down the street got a sweet deal and got 4 thermal drones for 100,000.00. He cant eat, and is on the run for bank robbery, but, hes really impacting the deer herd.
      Ppl are ridiculous. "Rifles ruin huntin" bows ruin it. Crossbows. Game cams, compound bows..
      Pull up a titty and cry a while.

    Thermal drone, not cool, your turning this into a competition that the deer cannot win. Unacceptable. I've been watching your shows for years, but this is a bridge to far, and quite frankly Mr. Grant, I expected better from you.
