Silence is the best form of dealing with narcissists..... Even when they cross the boundaries that you set.... Me I learned that the best strategy is to set strong powerful boundaries co-created with God to keep the narcissists at bay..... I had both an empathic and narcissistic parent growing up so I have been studying this my whole life
It's a funny moment the brain connected the definitions and the upbringing, innit?!?!? Gobsmack moment... I just try to laugh.
No super empath would use the "silent treatment" against a narcissist. Instead, a super empath would destroy a narcissist with a short and concise rejection creating a severe injury to the narcissist. They will not return.
My ex after he drained Me of everything and kicked me out to be homeless but now I am safe and sound.
No matter how much I block and discard and move on, he pushes his way back into my life, talking years here.
I am slowly recovering and btw never has he thought enough of me to buy me a gift, never over 8 years or so, Food yes.
I just text him with songs, videos and see him every week or so, keeps the peace.
And he has never helped me out ever and then the few times only if it impacts him, like my Car, as I drive him around to shops or pick him up when he is drunk or stoned.
Never an offer to pay me back the thousands that he owes me but constantly bragging how he lends money to friends but never to me of course.
Previous birthdays when we were a couple always a Friend card and a scratchie.

I am silent now with my mother. My ex was a narc and I was asking God why He allowed that person in my life. I chalked it up to having the understanding that there are some people who are that evil in the world and they can come as an angel if light, but now I know it was to recognize the toxic patterns that my mother has done to me since birth. Its so crazy to have your worst day and best day simultaneously. finally Realizing that there was nothing wrong with me and it was not anything I did or didn't do that my mother couldn't love me like a mom, that was such a relief and liberating feeling that I could finally let it go. That was the best day. Realizing I was mentally and emotionally neglected and abused on purpose for 53 years by my own mom was the worst day. I was living with her and couldn't take the disrespect of boundaries anylonger and had a slight supernova moment. I just left and have been silent. I still need to move my things out and I already know how she will be so when my things are out I will mourn the loss of a mother Iknow will never have and the family I know will never get to truly know. I'm scared and excited at the same time. It's my time for me and I'm nit gonna worry about dimming my light anymore to save peace and conflict. I'm gonna let it shine and give God all the praise and glory for being my Father in every sense of the word.

I totally sympatize with you .. i had almost the same story happening to me . For 42 years i was asleep ..didnt know what it was .. but after the rationship' i started putting pieces of the puzzle together ...when i confronted my family about theyre behaviors .. they all treated me like a human waste .. and never before had issues with them .. i forgave them but never again will i . Sit at a table with them . Its been 2 years now and nwver heard from them again exept for my mother whos the enabler in alll this mess.. even her tries to gaslight me .. anyways tanx for sharing i hope your ok and just wanted to let you know your not crazy and your not alone .. keep staying strong because when we get out of this horror movie . We will be stronger than ever !
FUN FACT: Narcissism is on the same, but extreme opposite, spectrum that Empathy is on.. which is why Empaths (or HSP=highly sensitive persons) seem to naturally be a magnet for attracting Narcissists into their lives.. I discovered this a few years ago, because as an Empath, I couldn't figure out why I've always attracted so many Narcissists to me throughout my life, but after doing some indepth research for a few years, I found out that they're drawn to us because, subconsciously, they know they need to work on their deep psychological issues, but their egos refuse to allow them to do that.. Empaths natrually, and usually without even realizing it, trigger Narcissists to HAVE to look at themselves and see where they're lacking in their morals.. which is why Narcissists despise Empaths for seemingly no apparent or valid reasons that they can articulate, and why they will try to attack them without provocation.. basically, Empaths have the innate ability to breakdown a Narcissists barriers in ways others don't, in order to subconsciously push them into healing their suppressed psychological damage.. it's truly quite profound and intriguing when you really contemplate it.. so for those of you who seem to have a knack for attracting Narcissists into your life, you might wanna explore the possibility that you could be an Empath or HSP for yourself, to gain a deeper understanding, and to educate yourself on how to better deal with the Narcissists in your life more effectively.. The best way to handle a narcissist is to set healthy boundaries and get a restraining order if they insist on trying to harass you. Police protection.

Restraining orders are a false sense of security,
because narcissists don't honor them, and victims put too much trust on them. When narcissists violate them, victims suffer even more because they've let their guard down, and allowed themselves to become even more vulnerable.

Dealing with a Narcissist is definitely a spiritual battle.
So true. “I’m sorry for everything” but nothing specific, this is what will happen when you don’t engage, it unsettles them. They will try everything in their little handbook to lure you back into an argument. When that doesn’t happen they will try and “talk” when you reject this because you have never been able to talk in the past, you are the bad one. You need to stay firm until they address the elephant in the room. That they are indeed the narcissist and they take ownership for everything, specifics and acknowledge the suffering they made you feel. Little chance that will happen however.
They all said to me that i had changed .. father :i was not the son he once had.. that son doesent exist anymore .
My brothers : i need help and blame it on drugs .
And the only thing i did was pointing out theyre lies . Yes i have changed .. i know respect myself and never again in my life will i listen to your lies and shitt you all throw at me ...
In my case my father also uses social media to keep trying to get a reaction from me ... Trying to give the impression hes so good .. and litteraly posting about nature birds and the importance of loving your kids and beeing always present ! And my enabler mother putting hearts on all his lies and bullshit
The day I left my narcissistic father I had no hatred I just let go of the past that's all water under the bridge cuz I knew I would never have to deal with him again after getting the restraining order and just staying quiet I found out that bothers the hell out of him he doesn't get to see my sister and I and now he is just plain miserable and talking shit about people he doesn't even know to my brothers that still live with him. Trying to get closure from a narcissist you're in a way telling them you want to get back in their life cuz they're going to find a way to try to suck you back in. Going no contact and staying silent is true punishment for a narcissist that's the best way of giving them the silent treatment. Some narcissists will move on While others will just sulk and wallow in their own misery and just spend all their time just shit talking. When you're staying silent you're able to move on with your life get a new lease on life and set healthy boundaries to keep them from harassing you and if someone's going to believe everything a narcissist says without talking to the other person they are just plain dumb and naive anyone could pretend to be sad and miserable trying to get the sympathy of others if a narcissist started doing the victim crap with me I would just tell them they sound like a big baby
I gone into super nova stage and used his tactics against him. He said im done with your mind games have a nice life and blocked me because he doesn't like accountability so he used also my insights against me😅 that made it the whole relationship very very confusion also because he acted like the helper but become like a sort of teacher that undetastimated me constantly and he found himself higher than me and it costs him energy and before we met he felt good. So i respond to him at that time during the relationship i said thats something that you can change if you found yourself in that situation. He torned my down and acted like the hero and hating me for not loveing myself.. He was so weird but also very smart at his game to he honest. But not smart enough because i called him out and unmasked him. I think he is scared because normally he want his stuff back his jacked and things like that but he don't want to face me but most narcissist forget and their urges get to strong for fuel and try to come back but i will give him a nice door slam because they don't even deserve one look.
I finally got my divorce from ex-Husband. As a SE I feel drained, exhausted, and I am afraid I have nothing else to give anyone and that makes me very sad 😔.
You will heal. I promise. Just don't rush yourself. Don't down yourself because you feel as if your not moving on a timeline "fast enough". Move at YOUR speed. I got out of the same type relationship. About two years ago it ended. And I'm JUST NOW after retreating in solitude, beginning to feel..... recharged. More.... myself. I need another year or two probably.
But, for you, it's going to take time. Probably more time than you WANT it to take, but you will get better. Just pay attention to your emotional battery and recharge accordingly.
Give what little you have left to yourself, be as kind & loving to yourself as possible, every single day. This self care will begin your healing
If anyone says they’re sorry - I ALWAYS ask them - what are they sorry for . Because- then you will know who you’re really dealing with. A normal person can explain further & a Narc will look at you in bewilderment
When someone tells me they're sorry i just ask "why?" When they dont have a real answer you know theyre full of it

The silent treatment is punishment for the narcissist because they want to be able to get people to be under their control and be the way they want them to be and when any type of empath is silent and going no contact that is a killer that's a fist to the heart on empath just has to tell their family or friends or whoever. I got tired of the dealing with the narcissist's bullshit so don't be surprised if they're going to be talking shit about me or anybody else. That narcissist didn't get their way so now they're mad and so they're going to act like spoiled rotten teenagers who basically just didn't get what they want that's life no one's going to be happy all the time narcissists just has to learn to get their head together and then just change their personality if Lee hammock (mental healness)and Ben Taylor (raw motivations) and as long as they could do it the toxic narcissistic people in our lives can also alter their behaviors just like Lee hammock and Ben Taylor to live a more happy fulfilling life.

Yes, she chose not to understand how my feelings were going to respond after being caught on messenger texting other men out side our relationship but now she has a bigger problem. My silence was finally my grad finally. I only care about my healing and recovering. I lived in hell for two years and I remembered who I am a Sigma Empath which is why I was chosen. It backed fired and I became this narcissist worst nightmare. Have no mercy on them like they had no mercy for you. Get up and stand up for your rights. Get them with their truths like holy water on vampires. My prayers are with everyone who is recovering or experiencing this hell. 🙏

Going silent with my narcissistic husband of 12 years while i plan my divorce is the best thing i have done in years.
I wished i knew his technique years ago...shut him up for good. Sometimes i smile to myself just watching him wanting to talk to me and cannot find tbe words. That usually was me: timid, scared and intimidated when i need to talk to him about anything.
I will shut my mouth until the divorce is complete..
I don't know for sure what I am I can only say what I have done through out my life typing and talking is difficult for me
