@DemCrumblies Australia, yeh that makes sense. Thank you, I'll check another source. Thanks for great video tips. Can't wait to try 24/7 recording on our camera
quick question, can you test out what happened if you lost the AC power source (like a power outage happened) does it stop the 24/7 recording immediately ? and what do you have to do to get the 24/7 recording back once you restored the AC power supply ?
I tested it out and it automatically switches over to battery power and stops the 24/7 recording and goes to event-based recordings only. As soon as you plug the cable back in or into the wall, it automatically switches back to wired mode for 24/7 recording, so you don't have to manually change anything in the eufy app, which is convenient if it was a temporary outage.
No, unfortunately that won't work I think because it will probably switch back to wired mode or solar mode once you unplug the cable. If you have the camera right now, you can test that out though because you don't have to use the official eufy cable to test that out. You only need the official eufy cable for permanent outdoor use for the weather sealing.
I linked to an unofficial USB C cable in the video description and the pinned comments that you can try to see if it comes up in the UK. It's also a flat cable that might be easier to wedge or run. The brand name is delilyn.
Hello, the link for official USB câble doesnt go to this câble you talked about... Can you give another link please ? Il looking for this câble! Thanks for video
Hey there, which country are you in? It's possible that the cable is not in stock on Amazon in every country, but I see it in stock on Amazon USA & Canada.
Quick question bc I keep hearing different things. Do you need to have the cameras hardwired to internet for 24/7 recording? How about the HomeBase? Thank you!
The cameras just require a USB C cable to be plugged into them, then you can plug the other end into a charging brick connected to your wall outlet. The HomeBase 3 can run on WiFi now, but it's best to hard wire it to your modem or router, however the cameras do not need to be hardwired to the internet in any way, they will connect wirelessly to the HomeBase 3 and only need a USB C cable for continuous power.
@ thank you for your response. I don’t get it - Eufy support is saying they need to be connected via Ethernet (the cams). I thank you for your help as you have tried this and it works. I’m finding Eufy support lacking. Appreciate you!
@@-PaulyD- Great to hear you got it all sorted out. Not sure why they would say it needs to be connected to ethernet since there is no ethernet port on the cameras. Maybe they meant the HomeBase 3, but yea, sometimes they are lacking and when I point out something, they double check the information and confirm what I was saying or asking about.
@@-PaulyD- Oh got it. Yea with this camera system, I believe you have to use eufy's proprietary app to get access to all the settings and features, but it supports Google voice assistant and Alexa I believe.
Hey, you can use the 16GB that comes with the HomeBase 3. It just means that your footage will be overwritten earlier when it fills up, so you won't be able to review footage from older dates.
Will the WiFi connection appear if you don’t put the hard drive in? I have updated the firmware but I don’t see that option. In the UK we are on 3.0.9.6 as the latest firmware update.
Hey there, using the hard drive shouldn't matter. I left my settings on using the HB3 and ignored configuring WiFi and it's still working fine for 24/7 recording. Did you get 24/7 recording up and running? Btw, I am on 3.1.1.0 so all the features have not been pushed to your camera yet it seems.
@ great news they pushed an update this morning after me email so now I have the latest version. I’ve just purchased a 2TB Seahawk HD 2.5” to record 24/7 as I read they are better than SSDs. I have a flat cable but just need an idea how to weatherproof the seal connecting to the camera. The official eufy cable is too thick to go under my windows as I can’t drill into this rental property.
@@TazBo-wd2ig That's great to hear. Btw, in the pinned comments and in the video description, I linked to some unofficial cables for the S3 Pro that have weather sealing and are flat cables, maybe they will work. Otherwise you may have to try and caulk around the area very carefully. If you search on Reddit, you might find some unique workarounds to weatherproof the port.
They are pushing the feature out to a small group of users before it is pushed out globally I believe, but I don't know when the timeline is for the global release. You can try contacting eufy support to ask them when they will release the feature in your area.
I had emailed their chat support about a month ago to ask when it the 24/7 feature would be available and they said sometime in November. I thought everyone would get the update at once unless they are rolling it out in stages.
Have you ever seen where the clips that are stored are choppy when playing them back? I have 900mbps WiFi speeds the cameras are saying great yet any clip that is recorded just doesn’t play smoothly
My clips were play smoothly so far. Sounds like maybe the placement of the cameras or the walls/material it has to go through might be affecting the signal strength perhaps. Even though it's cumbersome, you could temporarily unmount the camera, bring it closer to your Homebase to see if playback improves. If it does, then it means the signal strength is affected. You could also try to clear the eufy app cache on your phone to see if that helps.
Just had an update from the eufy support team for end-user based in the UK. Here's the method how to turn the 24-hour continuous recording function on Feature Path: camera settings -> power manager -> Direct Power -> Advance Settings - > Continuous Recording On Enable Conditions: 1. Homebase3 firmware version: v3.0.1.4 or above 2. eufy app version: v4.9.32 or above 3. Homebase3 has an HDD inserted 4. Camera is connected to a 5V/2A charging cable
I am noticing that in Direct Power mode my cameras battery is draining heavily, I started it out at 100% when first activating the feature and it’s dropped to as low as 71%. Is this normal / anyone else’s experience?
Maybe you can try changing the charging brick or power adapter to the most powerful one you have in case the one right now isn't supplying enough power. Also, are you using the official eufy cable, or another cable?
Hmm is that for recorded video or when you're viewing live view, because live view can be streamed in standard definition if you don't set it to stream ib 4K by default.
Both video recording and live view are set 4K . Live view is even worth because it shows in slow motion. when I save the videos still same quality but not in slow motion
I use deco 1100mesh wifi signal perfect , internet speed over 500 mbps download and 50 mbps upload . I don’t use cable to power the cameras use their solar panels only. I use official cable for home bace 3
@@ash-hi3dm In that case, I would contact eufy support directly. Do note however, that to get the 24/7 continuous recording I'm mentioning in this video, you have to have the cameras wired and not using solar power only.
How far can I have the cameras away from the homebase? Do they work just off Wi-Fi that’s connected to the homebase or do the cameras have to be close to the homebase for working?
From what I understand, they use the Homebase 3 for connectivity. I believe around 30 feet is optimal if you have lots of walls that the signal has to penetrate through and depending on the wall material, but I'm not sure what the maximum range is since it will vary. How far do you want to place it from the HomeBase?

Would it be possible to use a solar panel as an alternative to direct current power?
I don't think the system will allow you to choose the direct power option with a solar panel.
I wonder if after the wired setup then disconnect continuous charging and place it back out on wireless if it will still run 24/7???
No, unfortunately that won't work I think because it will probably switch back to wired mode or solar mode once you unplug the cable.
