Hey more simple explanation. The eye clone attacked so that sanmei would notice they are invaded. I bet this happens to every hashira . By this muzan was able to get every hashira to one point and get them all to infinity castle. He simply wanted to end every demon slayers at same time . Normla level demon slayers could be easily trapped. But for hashira it needed to be a moment of weakness. All of them were attacking and all in mid air. They dont have time to think
Everyone forgot how fast Sanemi is. He literally disappeared and came right towards Genya to pop his eyes. If it was not for Tanjiro, Genya might have lost his eyes. In case of Nakime's eye clones, there was no Tanjiro to save it, so it was Sanemi's speed which chuckled the clone.
Could be his blood making the eye drunk and attracting it to him. Could be Nakime actually trying to attach itself to him. Could be that the eye was ‘jumping’ from one side of the staircase to the other and sanemi caught it mid flight.
