I used to get "Trains" magazine years ago and Adlake would usually have a full page ad for purchasing their lanterns. Nice to know they are still in business and offering new lanterns.
Nice AA on the lamp! Greetings from a fellow caboose worker. I give tours of the 1888 GTW caboose in Howell on Sundays. I mainly explain and demonstrate hardware and describe life on a caboose.
Worth every penny, though it should be noted that globes do NOT come with the lantern and have to be bought separately (I recommend W.T. Kirkman, theirs are just as good and are much cheaper than Adlake's globes). I have a brass one and it's the pride of my collection, gives plenty of light.
Unfortunately, very soon only the W.T. Kirkman globes will be available. They are just as good, but not the original for anyone curious. Kopp is the original if there are any collectors that need to know.
Can I purchase a new Adlake lantern in 2023? I tried to access their website, but Google said it is a dead website. Does anyone know the company's status.......are they producing lanterns in 2023?
I'm unsure I have seen a lamp ever from the AA but I do know of an AARR lock in the Howell Depot. I have also seen things such as buttons go up for sale from old uniforms of which I have one from the AA and PM.
Nice video, please let me know the part number or name of the burners you showed in your video, specially the one with the long adjusting shaft. I couldn't see it in the Adlake website.
Great vid on the adlake lanterns! 🙂🙂The company website does not work or out of date. 😞😞But great vid! 🙂🙂 Oh I just scored an old Adlake 400 Canadian Pacific Railroad lantern in good condition & it works too! Happy camper here!🙂🙂
What is the stuff in the fuel fount with the wick? I have a lantern and I need to replace the wick and the other stuff but I don't know what it's called to order
How much additional charge did you need to front, to get the lantern stamped, and the globe etched? My guess is that such an operation doesn’t run cheap, but I’d like to know, as a rough idea for what I might be gettkng myself into, if I were to order a custom lantern for myself.
Depends on what material you want the lantern to be made of. The cheapest kind is made of Zinc, the next highest Nickel, and the most expensive is Brass, with custom stamping costing $2 extra plus set-up costs. Globes are NOT included with the lanterns and are extra, and having the globe custom etched is $14 extra plus set-up costs on top of that. So definitely not cheap if you want a custom one out of the factory. Personally, I waited until Adlake had a special on "blemished" lanterns, which are basically rejects off of the assembly line with a minor defect or two (still perfectly good and serviceable) which they let go for greatly reduced prices from time to time, then I went to W.T. Kirkman for the globes, as they sell them much cheaper than Adlake does . Ended up paying $30 for a brass lantern and $18 apiece for a full set of globes (clear, red, green, amber, blue, and orange) as opposed to paying $80 for an unblemished lantern and $40 each for globes from Adlake. It's true that I didn't opt for any customization, and my lantern does have a blister in it where the hole-puncher screwed up making the air holes in the base, but otherwise there isn't anything wrong with it. Works perfectly and looks great.

Well, as these lanterns are modern replicas, having a vintage globe in it is sort of beside the point.
@@Shipwright1918 true enough
Anyone know if adlake still does this? The link in description doesn’t work and their page is not updated..

Look in the Adlake store online. They seem to have everything there.

Did they stop making them? Cant find it on their site.
Dose adlake add a railroad name on all lamps like ERIE NYCS PRR N&W
You can stamp whatever you would like on your lantern. They can be customized and can also have laser etched globes if you choose.
