Former optical dispenser here, you should be able to take your glasses to an eyeglass place and they can adjust them for you. Most places do that for free. Sure, you can also adjust them yourself (as I saw another commenter suggest), but the pros do that all day every day and they already have their frame warmers set up, it'll take them seconds to do it. Just a PSA for any glasses wearing folks, adjustments and cleanings are usually free (and fast), repairs are usually pretty cheap (depending on the repair), and many places can do new prescription lenses in old frames (as long as the frames are in good condition). If you're having glasses problems, don't despair, your local eye doctors actually do want to help you!
This seems like the sanest safest fastest solution. And I’ve done the hair dryer thing on cheap sunglasses.

As a baby glasses user (and a pretty young kid) I slept on my glasses. Woke up, lo and behold, they are bent as all hell. My dad took me to a glasses store and they fixed them. For free!
My advice about the back wall:
Don't deliberately buy or make something to fill it. Save it for a time when you see something and want it and have to think of a place to put it.
The empty space is not distracting, but also not required.
This is such a great comment! If empty space is unappealing, one could always put wall decor/a framed photo/something pretty that can be easily relocated when that space is needed for tools or supplies :)
The background wall is a perfect place to hang one of your giant embroidery pieces when they're finished!

Yup. The wall is a little blank, and the embroidery pieces generally vibe well with the room. Could be fun to see as a WIP progresses, or just hang a finished one.

Clultterbug helped me to realize that I'm not lazy about organization, but that I need specific types of organization systems that make sense for me, that I will then use (visual, and detailed). For me, if it's not on a shelf, on the wall, or in a drawer, it won't get put away (and I won't know where to find it). Anything that requires multiple steps in order to take it out or put it away is a waste of time (for me). I love the IKEA pegboard I recently bought for my sewing tools. It's made a huge difference!

A friend also told me that laziness is a decision, it's a choice you make. So if you want to do it, but something is stopping you (whether that is brain blue screen, or a texture aversion, or whatever) then it's not laziness. Especially not if you're feeling guilty about not doing the thing.
Me, it's me, I feel bad about not doing the thing all the time, and beat myself up over it, it's better now, after an adhd diagnosis (which helped me see that I wasn't choosing not to do something when I was paralysed and staring at the thing for half an hour) and getting access to a therapist who helped me find apps/tools/workarounds that work for me.
Get a bunch of small rocks, paint them red with yellow specks, & scatter them under your strawberry plants. Supposedly the critters discover they're inedible & don't come back when the strawberries start growing
As a Norwegian its really cool to see our traditional arts being appreaciated and used as an inspiration. The pegboards came out great and look very cute.
Could you put an in-progress but not actively-being-worked-on embroidery project in the empty space? It would still read as an empty space due to not being finished, but it would be 1) thematic and 2) visually more appealing than just the blue wall.
Love the pegboard wall! In my opinion, art or something on that back wall would be too much, but... how about a plant shelf? Some greenery wouldn't be too busy, especially if it was a couple of hook-hung plants!

@@joelledurben3799 Eh, there are lots of plants that grow in the shade, they would hate direct sunlight. Ferns come to mind. Mine thrive in the back of the room where they never once get a bit of direct sunlight.

Omg, your door installation description is me too! We just had to have our stairs repaired and it wasn’t until after they left that I noticed they didn’t even do a major part of the work. The stairs are repaired and usable, but not what we agreed (verbally only of course) was going to happen. I hate dealing with contractors and I hate myself when dealing with contractors.
Yeah I don’t trust them, other… good ones are hard to find.
A contractor worth using will not have any issue writing up an invoice, in fact they tend to do so without being asked- just a little advice for the future, to help you if you’re needing one.
Also… a handyman is not the same, some might be good… but most don’t know what they’re doing, lol. If they write you an invoice… they’re probably experienced, at least.
@@cbkqmom yes! My problem is that not all of the details are always written in the invoice, but they are spoken about when discussing the project. I’ve used this contractor before, but it was a bigger project that required permits. This didn’t need permits, so not as much detail was written down. And then I brought up the details we had previously discussed, they look at me like I’m nuts and we never discussed such a thing. But I learned this lesson. I will get more details in the future. I’m just not sure how to extract those details from them into their invoice. I do have another project they know about and are expecting to do that also doesn’t require a permit. So I’m mentally writing the email in my head to get the detail I want. It’s so fun. And then of course the debate is even going with them at all, but there is a shortage of contractors and handyman types around here.
I am not hard of hearing and I actually usually have UA-cam on in the background while working, but when I happen to accidentally have the captions on and poke in to see what is going on rather than just listening, your captions are a delight! "Fun music, like a turtle going on holiday." I love it!
Her captions are really wonderful! I tend to have mine on by default. I'm not HOH, but my ADHD means I can get distracted for long enough to lose a few words or a sentence, and the captions mean I can pick it up easily without losing more info while I try to parse what "should" go in the missing blank. There are a few channels that do captions REALLY well, and this is one of them!
I use silicon covers on my eyeglass arms. They hold even my loosey goosey heavy frames on my face without sliding AND without hurting. Totally recommend them.
Most places that are retail walk-in stores, to buy glasses. Will adjust your glasses for free. Zero obligation. Even when you don't buy anything from them. If they need repair, it costs. I have been wearing glasses for 55 years. Always get them adjusted to fit how I wear them.
I have metal frames and use shrink tubing. Much more comfortable than the bare metal on mine.

My studio walls are covered in things that make me happy. I don’t want blank spaces; I need aesthetic chaos. I have some records, giant pegboards from Lowe’s with floral vines around them, some sashiko pieces, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Don’t be afraid to just put something there that makes your heart sing.
I saw a comment earlier about putting an embroidery wip there and I love it. Out of the way, so no accidents and we can get updates on how it’s going! 🎉

You can also get some cute key hooks to go up the wall next to it to hold longer items like rulers, so the pegboard real estate isn't taken up by long things that could just be right next to it.
i would absolutely be emailing/calling the contractor that messed up the door in the first place. doors can be expensive, especially if you need to replace an otherwise brand new one! even if i wasn't going to have the same contractor redo the job, they should know they messed up so hopefully it doesn't happen to other people in the future (altho it's hard to expect people take responsibility for their actions lol)
I love the colors and handiness of everything at your fingertips. On the embroidery, I was screaming at the screen for you to drill a few round holes, but you overcame the awkwardness of the slots and created curves anyway! It is a nice touch and suits the room as well as you. It's going to be a great room in which to create and film.
First of all, the fact that you managed to embroider on something that was not made for embroidery at ALL is awesome!
Second, I think if you want to, you could hand there some pictures or something that inspires/comforts you. Otherwise, I'm completely okay with a naked wall there since the room is already quite busy.
Thirdly, peg boards look awesome, but the important thing is that you USE them and they do not just sit unused and the items on them and collect dust instead. I have so much little needed clutter than I just can't put away because it's too much of a bother to get it in and out of my wooden drawer big piece.
Lastly, I would've called the guy that installed the door and tried to confront him maybe? Like, you paid for the guy's work, what the hell? I'm so sorry for that. The door knob is so CUTE!
Oh, and another thing: I will check milanote for sure. I need a good available board.
I had a similar problem with my glasses fitting too tight and you can adjust the arms a little to make them more comfortable! If you boil some water and pour it in a mug, you can soak the arms of your glasses for a minute in the hot water to slightly soften the plastic and gently bend it until it fits more comfortably. Now my glasses fit tight enough that they're not constantly sliding down my nose, but they're loose enough that they're not digging into my skull
yes! you can also use a hairdryer to heat it up!
This! A hair dryer works too. I sit my hair dryer on its side on my bathroom counter and just use the hot air to heat the arms so I can flex them into position. Works great! Adjusting your own frames is a critical skill for anyone who wears glasses and doesn't want to pay ridiculous amounts for "fittings" at an optometrist.

You totally need something on the back wall. There’s a theme that runs through all your projects and it’s extra. Visually interesting projects are very you. I’m not sure if I’d call you a maximalist decorator because I’ve seen you in streamlined spaces, but YOU are very extra and I imagine that will be a happier space with *more*.
I am a more is wonderful kind of person keep that in mind. I think adding things to the wall behind your head might be busy, yet you could add things like your rolls of interfacing and other boring white stuff and have them look like clouds, tying your ceiling. Into your walls. I really enjoy seeing how other people use their vertical space and not waste it. Always more space, more dogs.
Do the thing my mom did and put your lace on a corkboard up there! It's just a delightful adorable visual texture display with minimal color contrasting (at least with the way she set it up)
Optician here- just take your glasses that don't fit to a local optometry place (even at Costco) at they can adjust your glasses for you.
Second of all- I vote for saving your space for a gorgeous embroidery piece that will eventually go there!!!

i don't know why I didn't expect this project but I wanted it. I love rosemaling and many years ago did a small rosemaling embroidery project. never would have considered it a thought for pegboard ...except in cross stitch mode.

I’m sure someone else has mentioned this but if you look at the inside of the arm of your glasses there will be numbers. Grab the numbers from the broken pair and use that as a gauge for buying your new pair. You can also bend the frames to make them fit you. Don’t be shy 😉.
Oh and for the back wall a nice plant on a macrame hanger would look lovely.
And i would make Matt ring the door hanger guy back and make him come back and redo the job. I say Matt because i know you would never do it 😂. Unfortunately both me and my husband hate confrontation and we have had many a ‘professional’ dupe us into their services only for them to do a DIY type job. I also have trust issues now but i am also lazy and don’t want to have to do everything myself. It’s a hard balance to find.
You will know when the right thing comes along for the back wall. Maybe you frame a pretty piece of wallpaper? Maybe you see some art by a local artist?
Maybe you cricut your logo and stick it on the wall? Whatever you decide, I’m sure we will love it. P.S. elfa your closets. You only drill the top track holes then the rest is all modular and moveable like the pegboards but even better!
Put 2 more peg boards on the back wall. I am sure you have lots of goodies to hang on it.

Tips for the squirrel problem: paint some rocks strawberry red and sprinkle them around the plants. They try to eat the stones and in time learn that the red things are inedible! And let the painted rocks stay by the plants all year round. Greetings from Norway

I watched your video with captions on. Your captions had me rolling, especially when you were drilling into the wall. If you are the one who captioned the video I love it and I love that you found a way to insert yourself into something that people read. If you hire someone to do it, they nailed your personality perfectly. I 100% will be watching with captions again.

I quite enjoy the process of figuring out how best to organise my work space/kitchen/toiletries. Setting it so it looks nice and seems sensible, and then rearranging according to how I actually use the things. I also love it when I finally get settled into a good system!

BUT because it's you the door knob is the perfect splash of Disney! 😁😁 LOVE how the peg board turned out. i recommend taking a picture every time you change something. i wouldn't remember, but if you wanted to change it back for some reason?🤷🤷♂ love the way the place is looking. i love posters and the pic of Mary and Bert from your page, add, thing would be perfect. the camera would only get a few inches of the bottom. any thing in a frame, some movie details, or a big pic of the pup would also be adorable!!

I really enjoy watching you expand and figure out your creative space! It's much more realistic than "This is how you organize a space" video because it's much more organic. I think it's also it's also more helpful because it gives a view into the actual process of organizing instead of just giving solutions, so you can apply the principles in different ways to different spaces. Anyways, I love your videos!!

My creative spaces in an attic, and the walls are not vertical. They are diagonal until they get down approximately to desk height. So jealous of the pegboards.
Perhaps one or two shelves at the back wall, picking up that brown wood?
I would also move that catch all tray down a little and place something looking like a flower/vegetable/something on the right side of it so it looks like the turtle is eating/smelling it 😅 what Do turtles eat??
Save that space above the cabinet for your beauty and beast embroidery. Or even hang the work in progress up there and it's a sneak peak when you've worked on it like it'll randomly get a new section some point
Nice peg boards. I vote for shelves or upper cabinets above the cabinet behind you for more supplies storage. Oh better yet, shelves for your tea cup & book collection, which i'd still love to see.

I live in Norway and rosemaling is one of my favourite things I've found in the arts here. Each region and over the years there are things that change which I find so cool about it.
Saving Strawberries: Organza bags. Or, if you are like me. I use make a round cage from stainless wire and make what is essentially an organza shower cap to go over it with some straps to tie it on. It has always worked for me to keep birds, bugs and other critters out of my berries (potted or planted).
I've been thinking about doing this with one of my peg boards for ages!

for the glasses thing, most optimetrision (i dont think i spelled that right haha) can, they'll often do this for free, heat up the frame and mold it to your head (in your case bend it ourward a bit) :)

Re: cheap glasses… find a previous order that fit and use those measurements to find new glasses. (Or like my order literally last week I went back to my first favorite frame that was comfy because the other options I tried to see were all still not quite as comfy because they were a tiny bit smaller than that first pair)
You were talking about wishing there were videos about the project that you about to do…I know it’s already done, but I have seen embroidery on wood videos where they drill holes in wood and embroider. It’s very interesting and beautiful. Well done on “chonk” 3, by the way! 😊
I’d put more pegboard behind you! It’s not as busy looking as you might think. A piece of art might look busier because it’s yet another thing, but a couple more pegboard boards would look harmonious. You could hang floss in different sections for different projects, and it would be beautiful!
I think having something on the back wall would be nice since right now it feels very bright, like the light hits it a lot which makes it hard for me to notice the other things in that area. I love some of the suggestions some other people had with rotating out larger in progress embroidery pieces, or just waiting for something to fill that spot more naturally.
Also I super super love the little turtle in the bottom of your pegboard, so cute!!!
I know they’re not crabs, but I can’t stop seeing the embroidery at the top of the peg boards as crabs. Love them though! The whole room is coming together bit by bit.

I would say, put something on the wall in the background, but not something that's very busy. I think the space feels empty at the same time, like you said, the peg board is very busy so something with too much going on will make the space feel cluttered. Such a fun idea to use Rosmålning/rosemalning as the embrodery pattern! Thank you for the video.

I absolutely love that you took your inspiration from rosemaling! My grandmother was a rosemaler and I’ve started learning how to do it myself.
Something minimalistic on that back wall would be nice to counter balance the more busy spaces. Like an oversized needle or oversized scissors. Something that is a basic large shape or silhouette that also leaves a lot of “white space” around the object. A wallhanging or painting would be too busy with the peg board right there. I know you have some beautiful embroidered pieces, If you had just the right one, you might be able to hang it there, but I would caution against it. You don’t want that corner to be overstimulating. Right now I would tell you to listen to the other commenter that recommended you leave it blank until you find just the right thing. Don’t go out specifically looking to fill the space.

OMG!! I totally forgot about that doorknob! I had one of those but lost them in the great flood of 2021 when my basement flooded. And YES…you totally need something on that wall space behind your head.
I'm sure I've mentioned it before but again my husband is so anti wall holes I have to think out of the box for my peg wall. I mounted peg board to over the door hangers and hung my peg board on the closet doors. I also glued magnets to peg board and tie strapped metal to the sides of my desks. So now my cutting table has reachable peg boards and my workspaces have all the tools at hand, and no conflict with the hubs. 😊

the plastic in the arms of those glasses is heat mouldable, normally. when you go to an optitician for glasses they have a fancy hair drier that they use to make minor adjustments to improve the fit.
you can use a normal hair dryer at home to achieve the same effect.
The measurement you want for your glasses is lens width! That's determined by the width of your face. If the measurements haven't worn off your old glasses, it's usually the first number in the series of 3. On my glasses, they say 53/16/140. 53 is the lens width from temple arm to the bridge. 16 is the width of the bridge, and 140 is temple arm. My experience is that the bridge number doesn't make a huge difference in fit, but the temple arm and the lens width have to be right or they won't stay on!
Optician here,the bridge number makes a difference if your frame is plastic, not so much with a metal frame with adjustable nose pads.

That’s an interesting project idea! I’ve seen people cover pegboards with fabric or decorative paper with the holes cut out, but yarn embroidery definitely seems like a challenge. I love the finished design though!

SO, about glasses. My ENTIRE LIFE of glasses wearing I was told it was difficult to adjust my glasses (one ear is significantly different than the other when one pays attention. 😅)… UNTIL I was freaking 36 and ordered random glasses (that I love more than any other glasses I have ever owned in my entire life) from Zenni and they fit perfectly out of the package. I was simultaneously amazed and infuriated. 🤣🤣🤣
I like the whole project..suits you to a t. Suggest moving the large white squares off to right on a separte hook. Still close but not using valuble peg board space. And I agree with the person who said leave the space until you find that "thing" that fits your style, dont force it. Really enjoying your content. Thank you fir your hard work. ❤
For your strawberries, paint some rocks to look like strawberries and put them with the plants. It ought to make any critter that tries to eat them stay away from the real ones. The peg boards look great.
For people like me, peg boards are a necessity, I have a 4'x8' panel on 2 walls. One for sewing and the other for scrapbooking. If I can't see it, I forget to use it.

To get birds to not touch your strawberry (I know it's a squirrel problem but it might work) paint some rocks to looks like strawberries. Works best to do this before the strawberry season.
