Pico de Gallo, beak of the rooster, how it got the Spanish name no one probably knows. Lyle your rendition of this Mexican standby salsa was spot on and very similar to what is made in Mexico. Nice job !
The Bald Chef Thanks Glen. I usually would have made it with Serrano peppers but I had jalapenos on hand. I made a Jamaican jerk glaze coming up that was really good
When you use "Pico de Gallo", in a sentence, in conversation, or as a phrase, it isn't what you think it is. It is like a hard peck of the rooster. Pendejo!!......... Spanish 101 doesn't work in conversation, don't do that again.
Lyle, your pico de gallo looks exactly like what they served us down in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It's fabulously delicious... cilantro, jalapeños and all. Thanks for putting the full recipe in the description!
I love the way you make yours..I love chunky!!! I watch a lot other ppl how they make theirs...but wasn’t satisfied with their recipes.. I’m definitely trying your version of the pico salsa...thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Semper Fi brother, this looks good. I'm going to be making some for some fish tacos I'll be making this week. Fresh speckled trout tacos and rice.....I'm drooling just thinking about it!
It is sharp. I just had someone comment that I need to google how to cut onions..lol. There is always a better way. Thanks for checking it out. I appreciate it
Can't wait to do this but will do Pineapple as well as Anaheim peppers. 8 romas, 6 jalapenos, 4 anaheim's, two cans pineapple, bunch of cilantro, two onions, lime squeeze, and my own 7 spices. All diced with a grid dicer so it is consistent, Thanks man.
¡Cookin' Amigo aprueba esta salsa! (Cookin' Amigo approves this salsa!) Definitely no de-seeding. I also cringe when people leave out the seeds of their peppers...that's where the heat is! Great job my friend.
Great video guys! Thanks for the tips on how to use the salsa. I don't have Jalapeños but will try your tip to use green chilies and green pepper. I'll add the salt bit by bit 'to taste' as you advised.
There you go Lyle, keep the seeds in, don’ wan’ none of that Gringo cookin’!~ “Cut out the seeds, we don’ need to cut out no steenkin’ seeds” (With apologies to the movie The Treasure Of Sierra Madre) Definitely like the red onions in there they add lots to Pico. Great tutorial you made Lyle, thanks for sharing.
I wonder if a little more garlic and less jalapeños would taste good? I'm a wimp when it comes to jalapeños (but I love garlic). I like the type of tomatoes he mentions to use, the Roma, because I find the large tomatoes don't have a lot of flavor. (My family uses Roma tomatoes in their pasta sauce for their flavor.)

That pico de Gallo looks bomb. I’m going to run to the store to get some ingredients and make me some and spoon some in my mouth too. Don’t need Tortilla chips!!!
What's up Devil Dog!! Loved the video, I will get my ingredients together tomorrow for my second try lol.. I was at 29 Palms from 90-93.. we definitely chewed some of the same dirt!!!
Yeah man, Metro was off the chain!! We used to drive 2.5 hrs to get there sometimes we'd do it on Thursday nights.. which was completely crazy lol.. Tijuana was the spot too.. went there 2 or 3 times.. it was kinda far from us like you said..
Those were stupid days, getting back to base 30 minutes before formation with no sleep. Good talking to you. I could go on forever about the stupidity I got into back then
No Hippie BBQ & Cooking Not rough around the edges. Just real! I personally like that! Oh, I already got some ideas from your site! Going to guess here................. you don't have to tell, you are either from the East Coast ( as I am and uprooted years ago to CA) or you are in CA............ am I close? LOLOL
No Hippie BBQ & Cooking I have my own pico de gallo recipe, ( aka, Salsa) but I LOVE it so much, I always check out how other's make theirs and then try that too! LOVE me some cilantro as well.
My husband hates cilantro, but I do want to make a close approximation. Would thorny coriander (sawtooth coriander, cilentro, culantro, thai coriander by its other names) be appropriate here? I've never had thorny coriander, but I'm pretty sure parsley isn't a suitable substitute.
Thank you for going over the basics. I am not a cook and the tips on how to cut the tomato and onion are very useful. Also I think I will add some green onion, I had never thought of that. Did you bake the garlic or just peel and slice it?
Add vinegar, two to 3 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce, 4 to 5 tbsp of chipotle southwest seasoning. Also a can of delmonte spicy stewed tomatoes diced up. KILLER!
measurements? like how much of what did you add? i dont want tooo much tomato. or too much onion you know.. or does this thing kinda just blend then for taste ad whatever u want?
+TheCrazyBadGamer I think I have the measurements in the discription. My suggestion is to add as much of as little as you like of each item. I change up the combination all the time
labebah 81 I love this pico de gallo. I really never intended on doing a video, but a subscriber asked me to. I make this a lot. I appreciate you taking time to comment

you look like Forrest witiker

The extra salt is cool. It'll help pull the flavors out of the raw veggies. Plus you can also use it as a great marinade.
