NGL, this is fantastic. what a way to preserve on a durable substrate small and convenient, easy to display... this a wonderful gift for someone to put on their night stand, fall asleep with visions of their loved one, on the inside of a film canister.
Absolutely fascinating!! I’m so happy to have found your channel - this was incredible to watch. Thank you for sharing it 📸 and I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Hey! Love this idea - if I make a video doing this process is it okay if I tag you and give u credit?? Also do you know if there is a way to remove the front label of the canister?
I am not sure if the canister will be too thick, another concern is that the emulsion is still wet so it will leave permanent stains on the inside of your camera.
Your video would make a lot more sense if you used the correct terminology. The part you are talking about is called a film cartridge. A film canister is the protective plastic container that the cartridge is packed in. Words have meaning; please use them correctly.
@timhuggins8545 If this was a written essay or if you are person with a seeing disability listening to this video, then I could understand getting confused. Aside from those two circumstances, the accompanying visuals plus the context and the thumbnail you see before even clicking on the video completely clear up any confusion that could possibly be caused by a misunderstanding in terminology. Words don't exist in a vacuum. They are always attached to context. The sole purpose of language is to be a tool for one person to convey their thoughts, ideas, and feelings to another. As long as they do that, then success! Ryan was very successful in that regard. I took the time to type all of this out because I used to be a language *prescriptivist* like you. Now that I consider myself a language *descriptivist* , I deal with very few instances of frustration over the "misuse" of words. Now I can just enjoy things for what they are instead of dwelling on semantics that have no affect on whether I understand something or not.
@@silveranddye You are correct. The terms cassette and cartridge are interchangeable. Both denote a subassembly of parts, usually disposable, that is intended to fit into another mechanism. The term cartridge is more common for 35mm film, although cassette was often used for 8mm movie film. A canister is just a general container that you might put pretty much anything into. A canister has no function as a part of another mechanism. Thank you for your comment. It is always refreshing to engage with an intelligent person who doesn't have their head up their ...
the absolute coolest photography video I've seen on here in a long time
Very cool. All I need is a 4x5 camera, chemicals, darkroom setup… lol.
😂 yes that’s another rabbit hole
This is absolute genius. (FWIW, easier way to open the cans is to use a bottle opener to take the end caps off).
Thanks for the tip!

Brilliant, great idea and VIDEO. Keep on trucking man!

My sentiments exactly!
As someone who grew up in his father's darkroom, I really appreciate seeing your tintype innovation. I will have to try it myself.
Thank you and please do!
I have enjoyed watching your videos. I hope you make more!
This is incredible ! I love how it looks couldn't find the patience to work on a 4x5 acrylic piece but thanks for the great video !
That was amazing, such an original idea!

Fascinating! The size is really cute too - would make a great accessory to hang off a bag or something.
(maybe even smaller one... as earrings? 😮)

If you bang the bit poking out, the bottom pops off...
Awesome! I'm asking myself if it would be possible to use this technique shooting within a common 35mm film camera...

@@silveranddye A medium format camera might work...but yeah, those wet plates. I wouldn't want to try it.
Cool. How did you keep from getting finger prints on the working side, did you clean it before pouring?
Is it possible to directly expose onto the tintype with an enlarger instead?
Really cool. I’d like to try this. Have you got recipes for the solutions you used?
I used the Old Workhorse Collodion
AMAZING
Thanks for watching!
What watt seconds are you using on your strobe? Apature? Don’t need a ton of light to do this with strobe?
Amazing vid dude. I hope you blow up.
Thank you I hope that's a good thing?
does your acrylic plate/holder also work for newer film holders?
Not for film holders, you actually need a Plate holder for wetplate photography.
If I am ever in Singapore, I'd love to meet up!
Hopefully I will still be around!
More videos!!
Will try!
where did you get the 3d printed plate insert holder inside the 4x5 film pack holder?? lol i need that pleaseeee lol
I found it on a 3D repository, apologies I can't remember which one

Some call it a cassette instead of a cartridge, some call the canister like how you described it … a container.
Canisters, Cassettes, Cartridges all the same. The video is amazing. I haven't seen anyone do this.

Step one get a large format camera
😂 actually a 35mm film camera would do the trick but it will be dirtied.
@@silveranddye It's just one more excuse to get into large format
