Go myself one of these for my last trip to the Alps last year. Awesome camers and so easy to use, no need to worry about what/where to shoot, whether it's in frame, etc, it a captures everything and even things that you didn't notice before and just leaves you to concentrate on the shredding!😁

Awesome showcase Malcom! I got this camera last year cause you use it! This could be another video but it would be cool to see what preset settings you use on the camera for different environments or post editing settings!

Great video, been using Insta 360 gear since the 1st generation and love it.
Great video - and it had demystified how you get those great shots.
Curious though what your voice/mic setup is, as you seem to be able to talk clearly through all the shots, even when the camera is not close to you

Love mine the stability of the filming plus the Ai 🤖,i needed the second battery on my first day in -23 over in Canada 🇨🇦 fantastic in the trees but watch the lenses.
I got an Insta360 X3 using your code, mostly to get a look at my technique. Tested it out with a buddy and it's everything I hoped for (better have been considering the cost). A bit more work to figure out the angles and I'm sure we can get a very good idea of what's going right and what can be improved.

Thank you Malcom ..great video .. I've done a couple of holidays with this cam and got some great effortless footage ..
You have answered a lot of questions i still had showing us the modes you have used ... If you do another one can you show the angles your holding the pole in each mode .. For example in me mode do you hold it about 90 degrees to the ground or slightly up or down from that ... In 360 mode I was just holding mine straight up in the air .. Should I be holding it pointing out ? .. .

Me mode I hold it slightly higher than 90° but not much, in 360 mode you can hold it wherever depending on what you want to capture, the fov is wider than what you get on me mode so it will easily get all of you in, if you want to shoot back at yourself

quick question. did you use another audio device to sync the audio in the post? Because that's what I did with all my videos.. much better audio quality than the build in mic tho.

Premiere pro to put this together, everything on my Instagram is just straight from the app though, then I just use a different programme to record a voiceover for the clips

Hi Malcolm, do you ever do virtual training with the x3? Thought it would be great to get tips based on a video shared of me on UA-cam. I live in California . I just started using the camera. I have learned a lot from your teaching methods. The camera revealed I’m not as good as I thought I was doing.
I am on an app called Skiwit, but the app is new and it's not running super smoothly yet, hence why I haven't promoted it yet. But it allows for video analysis, and all things being well, it should be working better by next winter and if it is I'll make a video advertising that service!

Glad to see someone actually using the products long term and not just a short term review. I heard the X3 needs lens guards, are you using some in this video?
I don't use them no, it does drop the image quality slightly. I've never scratched the lens but if you're prone to falling over alot they might be a worthwhile investment. I have dropped mine a few times in the snow and they've been fine.

Like to use it with quick mount (made by Ulanzi for Insta360). Switch between helmet mount and selfie stick is very convinient, even in gloves.

Yeah definitely, there's alot of motorcycling UA-camrs showing how they use it!
Is there a way to get the lens to be more snow repellent? I find GoPro lens to be great at this but the Insta 360 not so much and it sometimes affect the stitching when in dual lens mode.
Add protective caps and wipe them often. Never wipe an unprotected lens.

that would be insane. i hope so, but i don't think we're geting 1inch sensor, because that would legit devalue alot of other 360s, which wouldn't be that good for their market@@ssneg
@@ssneg X4 will be 10 to 20% better than the X3 just as the X3 was in comparison to the X2. Natural progression. Remember that Insta can't step on the toes of their high end cameras.

I had mine when it came out. Granted I haven't updated the software in a good while, however, it is crashing, and glitching and corrypting files... I like to race karts, I had ai many issues with instas not recording the races... It's frustrating. Maybe the update would deal with that, but as it stands, it left a lot to be desired. The image quality is not the best either. Indoor tracks don't have the best lights, so it's all soft, but it does the job. Everything else is awesome!
It's had a tonne of firmware updates since it launched. Most recent is v1.0.85 2023-12-26
I have the X2 and absolutely love it! Its so much better than a GoPro. But there is one really big downside you didn't mention, the lenses are very fragile and because they protrude, the lenses will always hit the ground first if you crash or drop the cam.(or your beginner Friend hows filming you) Thats really shit for an Action-Cam. But I didnt have so much experience with it in the winter. How are the odds of surviving a crash onto the Slope?
Unfortunately its not possible to easily replace the lenses, so I recommend taking out an insurance.
Trying to justify getting this camera before i go snowboarding end of this month. 😂 itll help me improve my ridong i am sure.

You didn't plan to say that it has the worst Image quality and Dynamic Range out of all actions cams like Insta360 Ace Pro, GoPro 12 or DJI Action. That is why sunsets look pretty bad on Insta360 X3. Also it doesn't have any SlowMo with a decent image quality, which can be extremely important for lots of action sports. And at last it is very bulky to have it on your helmet for POV.
To be fair, the X3 has a different use case to traditional action cameras. What you lose in image quality you gain much more, mainly ease of use, it's the closest you'll get to shoot and forget as you'll always be in frame no matter what plus you can use the same footage for different shots. I strapped one to my backpack with the invisible selfie stick and captured decent footage on my last snowboard trip, something you can't really do with a traditional action camera. The sensor on the X3 is bigger than the previous cameras and the quality is a step up and perfectly adequate for UA-cam and if the content is good enough, no one would really notice in any case. 👍

I’ve had a go pro 360 for ages but I don’t use it anymore as editing and uploading the film to anything is a pain in the backside. Is this really that much easier, is it done by Bluetooth or WiFi from the camera to your phone ?
Done by WiFi, or via a quick reader where you plug your SD card directly into the phone
Raw file sizes must be pretty large.
Great camera but the stitching effect is hard to get rid of....i have used this cam and just dont seem to get the shots you get...maybe i`m doing something wrong?
You probably have the lens guard setting on when it shouldn't be, or vice versa, there shouldn't be any problem at all getting the smooth stiching
Lens guard... Is this on the settings.. I bought the lens protection for both sides but did not put them on?

Great video to show what it can do but there is no "why you use this over a goPro". If I had to choose between the two, what's so much better on the Insta that the GoPro does not have, and vice versa? Have you used a Go Pro in the past?
I don't like to compare two different products too much, I use the GoPro sometimes but mostly use the insta 360 because it's better for filming myself with the invisible selfie stick

Yeah, exactly. I use the 114cm pole for everything else, the 3m one just for an occasional cool shot!

114cm is the perfect length for self filming, any longer and it just becomes too cumbersome!
