Tammy Wynette performed "I Don't Wanna Play House" live on The Bill Anderson Show in 1967. #TammyWynette #IDontWannaPlayHouse #Vevo #Country #VevoOfficial #live
Great singers like Tammy don't need to prance around all over the stage when performing. She is spell binding standing there in one place singing her great songs. We could use more like her today!
I love it. She sings so effortlessly!! Hitting high notes and singing her best with the ease of an instrument 🎻. This is true talent guys and gals. I wish I had paid more attention to her when I was younger and she was still here
I was brought up with this kind of music, this song makes me feel very emotional, very close to home. Real emotion and meaning, not like the soulless music nowadays.
This is by far the very best Country Song ever. I love Country Music since I was 13. (Today I am 65). But this wonderful lyrics are so touching. Thank you, Tammy!! (sorry for my bad english I am from germany)
Never fails to surprise me how easy they made these classic power ballads look to sing and with so much class and grace. Hardly ever looks like they even have to try hard! Lol

Today (October 14, 2017) marks the 50th anniversary of "I Don't Wanna Play House" hitting #1 on the country charts. It remained at the top for 3 weeks. It was Tammy's second #1 hit and her first solo chart topper ("My Elusive Dreams" hit #1 on Sept 16, 1967 and was a duet with David Houston). "I Don't Wanna Play House" was written by B. Sherrill & G. Sutton. It was recorded on June 27, 1967.
@@mikehancock5744 Yes, she was Tammy's stepdaughter. Tammy was married to Donna's father, country songwriter, Don Chapel before she was married to George Jones. Don and Tammy were only married for about a year but during that time Donna, sang backup for Tammy on many of her early songs.
Now with Loretta Lynn gone, their are very few of the true country legends left. Don't get me wrong, there are some like George Strait and Alan Jackson in the younger generation that sing good traditional country music. We should be very grateful for that.
"REAL" Country And Western Music the way it was PROUDLY done in the 1950's to the early 1970's. The so called Country(TRASH) Music being PUSHED today can't be compared to the treasures of yesteryear like this song.
I know this is one of Tammy's daughters singing the Harmony because it was Live but on the actual Record it is of course Tammy singing with herself. It's so simplistic and yet so much better than half the crap that's out there today.
For a moment I thought the woman singing with Tammy was singer *****! Turns out her name IS Donna but it's Tammy's step daughter Donna Chapel, daughter of Tammy's 2nd husband Don Chapel.
Jeannie C Riley imitating Viola Lubsen. If one was to meet Viola...what a closeness it would be. Viola was as close to as perfection...walking as if she was walking as a Christian on glass...stiff...careful...every movement calculated. Best ever friend...forever and there are very few of them.
I saw Tammy Wynette follow John Anderson at a casino that no longer exists in a Las Vegas that no longer exists. Having gambled with other people's fingers, toes, and lives and money during my entire working career, I do not gamble for financial reasons. I'll buy 20 dollars worth of chips and see how long it lasts, but never with the expectation of coming away with any of it. I walked into the casino after the Shows but not seeing any thing I was interested in, I was walking out when Tammy Wynette came walking in. I am not a big man, but the top of Tammy Wynette's head only comes up to the to my shoulder. The last time I was in Las Vegas I had to walk 7 blocks through a dust storm to the nearest Mom and Pop song to buy a six pack of beer and then walk back through the dust storm to that above ground subway they call Las Vegas today.
I love Tammy Wynette but she sang the most depressing songs. Her personal life was a shambles and seemed to stay that way for years. She married some of the most abusive and selfish men she could find. She kept repeating this mistake 3 more times before she died. But they say you sing what you know and she sang the hell out of these depressingly sad ballads and sold millions of records to sad and abused women all around the country. Loretta Lynn sang about her Cheating husband and his Hoe's, Tammy her break ups, Pasty sang about not being able to handle a break-up... Jeanie C.Riley sang about not giving a damn what people thought of Single Mothers not needing man. Hell, I guess this means that there was never really any good men to begin with. Well, F that, if that's the case I'm never getting married again...Sista gonna keep doin it for myself. hahaha
I'm available, and I'm a good man. Just ask any of my 5 ex wives. It weren't me that broke things up, it was THEIR lyin and cheatin. Menopause didn't help either. I'd rather wrestle a 12' crocodile one handed than tangle w/ another menopausal woman! The gators ain't nearly as mean, and they're a lot more predictable.
Help a lazy bro., who is that singing with her? She looks like a young Linda Ronstat or maybe Donna Fargo and whoever it is, I like the lack of makeup.
Great singers like Tammy don't need to prance around all over the stage when performing. She is spell binding standing there in one place singing her great songs. We could use more like her today!
Exactly. She had true talent and true confidence. She did not need to prance around nor wear ridiculous skimmpy clothes.
I love it. She sings so effortlessly!! Hitting high notes and singing her best with the ease of an instrument 🎻.
This is true talent guys and gals. I wish I had paid more attention to her when I was younger and she was still here
She was the only country music artist I could relate to. She sang about similar experiences in my childhood and adult life .
Tammy Wynette was a boss with the voice of an angel.
My all time favorite Tammy song . She sings with more feeling than anybody I've ever heard before or after her . Just my 2 cents worth .
Did you want change? (Just kidding)
I LOVE ❤THIS SONG 🎵 NOW MY PARENTS REST IN PEACE .
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MASTER PIECE,BY ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME!

Tammy was lookin' pretty damn good herself! 💙🌹
Thanks for saying who the other young lady is. I was wondering about that.

Tammy and George singing in heaven
Aside from her stunningly gorgeous voice, she should've won an award for that hairdo!
She was a beautician before her singing career.
@@johnjarou2357 what are the odds we come to make the same comment 3 years after this was posted haha

Maritimers beware.Men Women alike. Children of Maritimers are Smarter now than ever before. Good parenting starts with great music like Tammy..
Anyone know the name of the girl singing with Tammy? I'm sure she would like some recognition.
Donna Chapel - check her history ... I think she was only a young teenager in the first recording of this song.
@@DanGibsonFilms thanks Dan.
Crying here. 😔Jesus H. Christmas.
The girl singing with Tammy is beautiful and talented Donna Chapel, who was Tammy's step-daughter from her second marriage.
For a moment I thought the woman singing with Tammy was singer *****! Turns out her name IS Donna but it's Tammy's step daughter Donna Chapel, daughter of Tammy's 2nd husband Don Chapel.
+Matt Jisa Thanks so much for that information!!! I've always wondered who she was!!!!

most people know that already hun
No, MOST people don't know that ... I'm very up on retro country and hadn't a clue who the young lady was. Not a clue.
Adorable
Listening to Tammy, but couldn't take my eyes off Donna Chapel.
