Love these two tunes. We use Blarney Pilgrim in a medley on live gigs with our folk band (Bow Creek), but had picked it up from the famous movie it was featured in and didn’t have the original title. Thanks 🙏 so much, beautifully played 👏👏👏
very nice i love this one, i play it differently on solo acoustic but i always find myself deeply craving a mandolin or another high voice really singing over everything. i need to find someone like you around!
Thanks niilo! I was looking for a companion three part jig for banish misfortune and here you have tied it to the blarney pilgrim which i already play except it sound I like a different key than the key of G that I normally play it in. Perhaps it’s your guitar backing that makes this tune exciting again. My musical buddy and I played it a lot a few years back so it kind of wore out. Nice mandolin and guitar playing. What tuning are you playing the guitar in?
Thanks! Yes that's pretty much how I put this set together, hmm.. what other 3-part jig do I know. The backing guitar is in DADGAD. I'm pretty sure the tune is in G though, at least that's what my chord sheet says at irish.muualla.net/jig/banish-misfortune-blarney-pilgrim/
Thanks so much for the speedy reply. The other multi part jigs I know of are actually slip jigs eg. the kid on the mountain. The session is a great site that I’ve used many times over the years. The midi files are a bit dreadful as they really can’t handle ornamentation but at least it gives me an idea of what the tune sounds like before I go on the hunt for a UA-cam version. Lately I’ve created an arrangement of three jigs , tripping up the stairs, the black rogue( I learned this from your video) and finally the Morrisons jig. The first two slide together like a hand in a glove and the last because it’s a key change is like switching to overdrive and lends some excitement to the set. So far I play these on mandolin and tenor banjo but I’m hoping to have a bouzouki built by autumn. It’s going to be a challenging project but it’s my way of obtaining an Irish bouzouki that surely won’t sound any worse than what’s available in the local music stores. I might have to build a few before I get what I want but it’s always good to learn new things
It's a shock mount, suspending the microphone on rubber bands so that noise (like foot-stomping) does not carry from the floor via the mic stand into the microphone
For some reason tabs aren’t really a thing in this genre, but there’s sheet music at irish.muualla.net/jig/banish-misfortune-blarney-pilgrim/ if that helps
2 of my favorites

Yes, I think the famous movie listed it only as "party in the 3rd class" or something on the soundtrack :)
Well played, l use the tuning GDAD for Banish misfortune and other tunes in D, my other mandolin is tuned GDAE

Just wonderful!
Thanks! This is one of my favourite jig sets too
I have learnt all your tunes and play along with you. I'm working on this now
😊
This is sick bro, nice guitar part too
Great tunes and playing thanks once again👍😀
Thank you this is more my speed to play on my harp!!
Yes. Jigs do not need to be blistering fast to be enjoyable. I too prefer a slower tempo.
Awesome mate!
Thanks!
really enjoyed this. That mandolin looks old but sounds great!. thanks for the playback tip.
Thanks!
Indeed. The older the mandolin, the better the sound.
Awesome
Nice chords on Blarney Pilgrim. Id like to learn those.
Thanks! There’s a sheet with chords I intended to use (and mostly succeeded) at irish.muualla.net/jig/banish-misfortune-blarney-pilgrim/
I love the lute part so much !!
It’s a mandolin

Lovely playing. I wonder is the guitar in standard tuning?...
Thanks! The guitar sounds like DADGAD
Nice
I've always been curious about the strange wire cage around the microphone.

@@NiiloSirola Ah. Physics in action! Thanks.
Hey do you have the tabs for these?
For some reason tabs aren’t really a thing in this genre, but there’s sheet music at irish.muualla.net/jig/banish-misfortune-blarney-pilgrim/ if that helps
Lmao at your reactions
What is the make of that instrument?
The label says "Fabryka Instrumentow Lutniczych Lubin Legnicki rok 1961/X"
Both tunes very well played…love the tone of the mandolin..are you ab.e to share the guitar chords for either or both of the tunes?
Thanks! I’ve posted the dots and the chords on my site at irish.muualla.net/jig/banish-misfortune-blarney-pilgrim/
@@NiiloSirola Thanks very much👍
