Although a lot of things are trying to kill him. Perhaps if those dice were rerolled by Jon's death, it would buy karma time to catch up with him. Or perhaps not, and he'd simply succeed with a different Archivist.
Perhaps one who lacked some of what Jon had that allowed him to prevail in the end.
Who can say, but it is endlessly fascinating to speculate.
Of course, in the end, it will always go to The End. No matter what shape the world takes, the only thing that is certain is that it will End.
The way his eyes look more human before he dies 😔😔
I just noticed, but just before Jon touches the door the vibrado in Michael's voice vanishes. He's already losing his power before the deed is done, and the eyes turning human just before the end is PERFECT. His voice is normal for the first time....just before the end.
Sort of like literally everything that’s left of Michael is coming to the surface just before it gets torn away.
The fact that the door is locked is always so funny to me. "No it's not locked"

When the Lovecraftian nightmare being has a small bit of panic followed by a quiet 'oh no', you know that shit's gone down, sideways, and just about every other damn direction concieveable, including the ones that need complex formulae to map.

this is my favorite thing I've seen of the fandom so far, everything about this video is incredible.. . michael's smile bein too big for he gotdam face.... jon being horrified through and through,,,, the door animation, the way jon's hand looks in that one shot, how michael's body language and mouth syncs with his big, inhale exhale way of speakin and his stupid laugh,,, and ESPECIALLY the way michael's eyes and mouth go bACK TO NORMAL for just the very last seconds of his life!!!!!! this is beautiful i've looked at this for five hours now thank u for my life

I love this a lot, you really get a handle on Johns feeling through the encounter. Though you made a comment in the description about the lower quality near the end of the animatic, I would argue the simple animation makes the closing lines after all that screaming quite humorous.
This is so good! Especially how you draw Micheal’s little giggles and expressions before the door opens- really encompasses the tone, great work!

Something I noticed is that right before he tries the door, he chuckles a little, but it doesn’t do that 🌀 thing like usual.

This is so fun! Michael’s design and animation is uncanny and adorable . . . I love how the door distorts as Jon’s walking up to it! And Michael getting sucked into the corners of the door is such a cool touch!

The way Michael laughs at Jon after seeing his horrified face makes me think of when a parent laughs when their baby loses their toy just before they comfort the baby. He doesn’t take Jon’s feelings seriously in this at all. He’s treating him like this whole situation isn’t a big deal and finds it adorable that a human is having such a fit (or something like that).
Plus, I find it admirable that Jon took the offer so that the world would be saved. But then again he probably just weighed his options and found no possible escape, so he just chose the less painful death 🤷🏻♀️
I like to think that the door actually wasn't locked, and Micheal just couldn't open the door with his ridiculous noodle fingers

Okay I only get Magnus archives in my recommended because my friend is obsessed with it and they keep sending me videos. But I found this one and while I sort of know who these characters are - that doesn't even matter. I mean LOOK AT THIS! As many others have said, your expressions are absolutely amazing and I too enjoy the fact you drew this guy's mouth off of his face. Also the guy with the glasses when he looks up in despair like - oh my gosh that's such a good EXPRESSION. Bravo!!
