Hello, my name is Matthew and I am making an educational application for red belt Mons 1-3. I was wondering if I could use clips from this video in the application to help the younger children from my Judo club to revise for their gradings. Its a really good video and I think they can benefit from it. I hope you will let me use it, thank you!
I did not realize Judo had a red belt rank? And I did not realize red belt was such an early rank either? In most martial arts schools redbelt is a senior rank almost before black belt. Can you please shed some light on this for me thank you
This is british judo goes White red yellow orange green blue purple brown black After blackbelt is red and white mix Implying that u have come full circle
Red belt was added kind of recently, the BJA did not have the rank in the kyu syllabus, but now do. The affiliated associations (the BJC and AJA) still dont have it.
Raittu hukku. Thing is, judo and other budo try to have an internationally uniform syllabus to an extent. You understand the terminology and commands if you go to an event or grading in any country. Also, translating all of the terminology in each local language would be a real pain in the butt, compared to applying the Japanese everywhere. We have the same thing in historical fencing in the German medieval tradition, in the Bolognese tradition and so on.
Ukigoshi your supposed to stand halfway on the outside and have the other half of your body on the inside of there’s. But ogoshi you have both your feet inbetween the opponents feet. So ones like half a hip throw and the others a full hip throw
o goshi is major hip, you put your hip across theirs and use the hip as a fulcrum to lift them up and over. Uki goshi is floating hip. your hip doesn't go all the way across theirs and relies more on torso rotation to whip them around.
0:06 Ushiro Ukemi (Backward breakfall)
0:15 Yoko Ukemi (Side breakfall)
0:24 Mae Mawari Ukemi (Front rolling breakfall)
0:33 Osoto-otoshi (Major outer reap)
0:40 De-ashi-barai (Advancing foot sweep)
0:48 Uki-goshi (Floating hip throw)
0:57 Kesa-gatame (Scarf Hold)
1:15 Kesa-gatame escape (Trapping uke's leg)
1:28 Kuzure-kesa-gatame (Broken Scarf Hold)
1:42 Kuzure-kesa-gatame escape (Sit up and push)
1:55 Mune-gatame (Chest hold)
2:05 Mune-gatame escape (Bridge and roll)
2:38 Osoto-otoshi in to kesa-gatame
2:53 De-ashi-barai in to mune-gatame
3:05 Uki-goshi in to kuzure-kesa-gatame
3:22 Terminology

@@gurukevy theres no purple belt in the BJA or any affiliated association. You'll often see purple in American judo though.

I've just done a first grading in Aikido and that's a red belt too

syyskuu is right. Ogoshi is known as ogoshi around the entire world, no matter the dojo.
