Yea I prefer the first image. It's way better and has a clear communication style. The second attempt is confusing and unclear and mismatched in style. But it seems the idea isn't right or wrong it's more about mood and context. I feel there is a time and place to use both not one over the other in general. If eating the 2nd. If charming, joking, the first.

It’s the anime style. It literally makes me think there’s a chasm or a mouth on the side of the face. But its a style and as a style it can work it it’s consistent and doesn’t distract. The implied side of the other mouth, still on this side of the face is interesting. I wouldn’t only draw mouths in these ways though, it’s limit you from exploring how interesting the angles and style can be with more accurate facial expressions.

So many say things like “you’re doing it wrong” or “wrong color” or “do my way of art because it’s better than yours” like seriously do yall not get art at all?! I can think my drawings are amazing and so can half the population, but the other half won’t because of preference, not because I’m bad at art (I am bad at art that’s just an example..)
