step 1: Buy a $70k truck, step 2: upgrade it with $30k worth of goodies, step 3: have loads of gas money and time off from work!. Congrats on your new truck and build. And thanks for sharing your adventures.
Love the look and focus on functionality, way too many guys would have crammed in the 37s and not talked about the heavy limitations. Keep up the good work and honest feedback!
24:23. I am not surprised by this one bit. I had a 2017 Ecoboost F-150 that had 35's on it and a 3.31 rear end and the mpg was even worse than what you are getting. It got in a wreck and totalled out so I went with a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro, and put 35's on it too. BUT, with that 4.30 rear I get much better mpg than the Ford. The Ford was 11 mpg city and 15 highway, while my Tundera is 13 city and 16-16.5 highway. Towing is even worse. The Ford got 8 mpg with my 7200 lb camping trailer while the Tundra gets 10.5-11 all day. To be honest, I've watched enough videos now on the 2022 Tundra that I thank my lucky stars I didn't wait and got the 2021.
Love how this truck is progressing. I just finished installing goodies from Heretic as well. Awesome people with a really solid product. I'm taking the truck for it's first outing on Wednesday. Thanks entirely to your video, a group of us are tackling the San Rafael Swell. Really enjoy your content and looking forward to the next video.
Thank you for the great video and for choosing our product!🙏. Love seeing your adventures! Not to mention all the customers in our waiting area watching your videos as well😉
Very impressed with transformation sir, excellent. Since learning about Heritic Studios from your video's, I added ditch lights to my PW, waiting for their new 6" round. Actually texted me photos of the prototype housings. Adding rear lighting as well. Then comes the Jeep 😁. Changing your grill/removing the chrome made a dramatic difference, WAY better.
Be sure to check your speed and distance with GPS with oversize tires. A larger circumference tires rolls a longer distance per revolution. I went from 30" tires to 33" tires on my 4Runner and when the speedometer reads 70 mph, I'm actually going a little over 74 mph. The odometer is off by about 6 miles less per 100 miles traveled, ( when ODO reads 94 miles traveled I've really actually traveled about 100 miles). This will give you more acurate MPG calculations.
In a world where almost everyone enters their RTT from the passenger side, it’s nice to see someone “breaking the rules” and putting the entrance on the driver’s side. Great content! Thanks!
I do love those totes from HD. Has been really helpful when I was just in my 4runner and struggling with space/organization. I’m about to finalize grabbing a Boreas XT which changes my storage/RTT situation - tent is going on the XT for my boys, and allows for more of my dogs coming along when it’s a single vehicle excursion. I’m keeping the totes as well. Works great for dry food goods that you don’t want crushed etc as well.
Just finally decided to get ourselves a 2023 Tundra. New year, new adventure vehicle. Our Land Cruiser has served us well but look forward to having more space and better road manners for long hauls on pavement. Watching all your videos now to see what works and what does not. I got the chance to talk to you at Expo NW and with what I gathered from our conversation and your videos, we took the plunge.
Dude…just a recommendation, having been familiar with the tent body sticking out past the tailgate…The overhang of a foot’ish, helps to keep a good amount of rain from getting into your truck bed. Just a thought!!!
I have those exact tires on my f150. Got a crazy deal on them $600. Installed them in December Mpg dropped from 22 highway to 18/19. Will be going with a Hankook at3 or a Pirelli all season to get back lost fuel economy. I have an extra set of Hauler rims. Fuel prices in Canada are crazy right now. $250 from empty and I rarely go off road so no need for dirt/ rock tires. Love the Chanel!
Replace the mattress with self-inflating, fold one blanket and place flat over the mattresses, then place any other bedding in the corner of the tent(the thickest part of the tent) I was able to fit (without forcing) two expeds, two down blankets, and two pillows in my 2.0. it’s takes time to figure out exactly how to make it all fit, but worth it. Especially if you use a heater, you won’t need as much bedding. Hope that helps 😊
Thanks for the Method 20% off link. Got my coupon code. I'm going with the 705's as well. Soon as they come back in stock for a Super Duty. Good luck with the Open Country AT III's. I had 35x12.5 R18 on my F150 last year and could not get them to balance. Had two bad tires replaced and still a vibration at higher speeds. Change to AT III's in a slightly narrower size and still had issues. Now have a 2021 F350 Platinum with the Tremor package and 6.7L diesel. Carrying my RTT on the bed cover with gear in bed and back seat, I still get 22-23mpg on the highway! Loves my diesel.....
Should have done a spacer lift, doesn't affect the spring harshness... and you can add bump stop spacers to prevent that "fuse" from exploding. It also moves your travel zone downwards so yeah you have a less up travel vs preload, but you get more down travel and you aren't likely to rub as much since the wheel won't tuck up in more. So long as the CV angle isn't bad, it's really a decent method.
I don't know if you have a filter on the condenser of your refrigerator but with all that dust it would be a good idea as it'll be easier on the compressor as well as pull less amps. (or vacuum it occasionally ) Nice vid.
The compressor I have blows a good stream of air that I've used to blow it out a couple of times. I'll probably take the panel off and clean it before the next trip!
You could see if anyone is selling tundra trd pro fox shocks and run that with the Westcott kit. I did this with my tacoma trd off-road for a temporary upgrade from the bilstein skinnies until I go to full reservoirs. It's a long wait for anything right now. I picked up the tacoma trd pro fox shocks from a guy getting kings for $800, then added the Westcott preload spring cup only to help with my skid plate weight. It's a good upgrade, better ride, and a lot stronger shock for off-road than factory shocks.
Sweet! Your Tundra is looking even better than before. But if it was me, I'd avoid putting heavy items on top of the roof rack to keep the centre of gravity low. Which I'm sure you know is good for better offroad performance (particularly when big articulation is required). And I'm surprised you only went for a collar lift instead of a proper suspesion lift (even if just the springs and shocks).
Look into the qomotop mattress. If you get a double and single it will fill the ikamper. You can fit a ton of bedding if you replace with this mattress.
Looking forward to your Mojave Rd video. Love that trail and the endless things to explore around it. Mods look good. I highly recommend the C4 front bumper for it, looks so good. Good luck with the rest of the build.
nice setup! One thing I don’t do is I tend not to store things on my roof anymore since I have a bed. Not sure if your bed was full but to me the more concealed and low cog option sounds better to me.
I was planning on having a 37" tire in the bed, which is why I had so much roof storage. I plan on keeping the heater and recovery gear up there, but we'll have to see what happens with everything else when I get the drawer system.
Great video! You are the first one to show the roof rack with the pano sunroof. I just ordered my Prinsu rack and was slightly worried about it. Have you opened the pano with the rack on yet? How much clearance was there?
Amazing rig. The real question for me is on the reliability of that new boosted v6. Coming from the prior bulletproof 5.7 that handles any and all. I just don't see myself being confident enough to make the switch. Maybe in a year or two I'll reevaluate. Cheers.
Awesome video as always! Is it me or does the camera keep zooming in and out ever so slightly but continuously? Say, at about 23 minutes. Maybe it’s my eye, but if you look at the edges of the screen it feels like it zooms
Mid-build? That's still a lot more spent than most people need to spend on a rig just to get out and camp and have some fun. That's more than I've got in to my 4runner in about 5 years, just don't have the money to do everything at once. But still a really nice truck!
Are you still happy with the toyos? I’m currently buying up stuff for my wife’s 21 3.0 diesel Sierra and tires are what I’m struggling on choosing. Seeing what your truck has seen so far I’m very intrigued. Love your content.

In your earlier overland expeditions you have been driving a 4 Runner. How does the Tundra 2022 compare with that. Second question: how much did your mods on Tundra cost.
Interesting comments about the Westcott Design Lift. Seem fair, but I would be interested if they agree. That said the factory lift Toyota announced earlier comes out soon and they detailed the parts components and specs, etc. I know you haven’t test that yet, but do you have any expectations related to capabilities, limitation, any obvious short comings outside of price? Mostly how rugged is it; I mean you probably don’t want to go full Tacoma with a big truck like that…but seems it could get you to some good fishing and hunting areas safely with confidence. Note: hope you fit an Alu Cabin on your Tundra after testing this equipment.
I’d be interested to see how the factory lift does. It has all the right components for a quality lift, but I’m not convinced it’ll have the flex. I wish Alucab made stuff for the Tundra!
@@RevereOverland If not an AluCab product, how about an OVRLND camper shell? I'd be interested in seeing what you can do with that. It would be a bit heavier and more luxurious than your current setup, but still quite off-road capable.

How’s the clearance of your panoramic sunroof with the roof rack? Looking to get one but no site states that the racks offered are high enough to allow the sunroof to open
Hi, just bumped into your channel! I have ROAM boxes as well, but I use ratchet straps that I use to secure on my roof rack. How exactly are you strapping them lengthwise?
@@RevereOverland When you have a more permanent solution, please let us know what it is. I am looking to mount a couple of these on Tacoma crossbars over the bed.
Both side windows of my iKamper skycamp mini were broken after opening the tent after the winter. (Less than a year old) The straps for closing the tent are causing this damage. After doing some research in the overland/youtube community I found out that this seems to be a known issue and that iKamper would cover this, despite iKamper stating: "This is definitely NOT a common issue that happens with our tents or I'm sure there would be a lot more posts and videos of this happening across social media...but it definitely happened to you and we will make that right. ... What we have done in previous situations (??? so it did happen to other customers or not ??? - this is nonsense what they are writing there) like this is we will completely replace both the tent skin itself as well as the rainfly with a brand new one. Because this really is not a common case and we have replaced them in the past(???), people that have had them replaced have not had an issue of the new skin doing the same thin. ..." iKamper didn't want to talk to me directly in the beginning and made me go through the dealership. I got the above mentioned message and a direct contact to iKamper not earlier after mentioning a lawyer. It might have worked without doing that but the communication was slow. My problem which I have with this situation and iKamper is that they knowingly kept selling the mini to customers. I got the replacement parts 2 days later but out of this fact I'm considering of letting the tent go. If you know that you're selling a shitty product you've got to fix it no matter what. That's why there's a new mini now. My posts asking for help also never got published in the iKamper community on FB.
Hey Rob, Was chatting with Justin B McBride the other day. Would love to collaborate on a trip sometime. Haven't done much with my channel but doing tons of trips with my family. Building a Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 trailer now. Redoing my Switch Pros electrical and dialing in my solar setup. Met you at Overland West but would love to connect sometime if you're in LA area.
Have you ever wondered if all that you have added exceeded payload capacity? Yes that’s an overlander’s fear, every little thing you add to the vehicle you have to subtract from the payload, I’ve watched many overlanders to know enough that everyone doesn’t care about it.
It’s a Spacer lift no point in Churching it up lol. My RC lift is designed identically. Has a preload at the bottom of the spring. Regardless it’s a spacer lift 😂🤷♂️
The Tundra Rough Country lift has a spacer that sits on top of the strut, which is very different from a preload spacer. Yes, they're both spacers, but the RC spacer is more likely to cause issues.
@@RevereOverland I can’t speak for the tundra version. But my 2021 Silverado LT RC 3.5” kit had a preload spacer as well as a spacer on top utilizing both for each front strut. Installed it the week I got my truck and love it personally! But even tho my kit had the preload part it is indeed still considered a spacer lift to me personally haha. As a master Ase tech for the past 12 years a spacer is a spacer. Call it what you will but it’s all the same to mechanics 😂🤷♂️

I clicked it and got a delightful painting of a cow holding a toothbrush in its mount: www.homedepot.com/p/Stupell-Industries-30-in-x-30-in-Bath-Time-For-Cows-at-Sink-Red-Black-and-GreyPainting-by-Tara-Reed-Canvas-Wall-Art-wrp-1217-cn-30x30/306445246?=&irgwc=1&cm_mmc=afl-ir-1977783-459920-&clickid=VwCxxaX6exyLTsEUN8w5aSM2UkGWNt0ZTz3ZXU0

RE padlock: Yep… theft deterrent; not theft protection… but even a small lock makes a difference
Yeah you can pretty much cut them with scissors 😂
How’s the clearance of your panoramic sunroof with the roof rack? Looking to get one but no site states that the racks offered are high enough to allow the sunroof to open
It fully opens with the panoramic.
I’m curious about the functionality of the sunroof with that roof rack? Does it block it or anything like that?
It fully opens without issue. CBI actually borrowed my truck to make sure their rack works with the panoramic sunroof!
Hi, just bumped into your channel! I have ROAM boxes as well, but I use ratchet straps that I use to secure on my roof rack. How exactly are you strapping them lengthwise?
I used lashing straps on either end. I'll be switching to something a little more permanent when the roof top tent is mounted properly.
@@RevereOverland When you have a more permanent solution, please let us know what it is. I am looking to mount a couple of these on Tacoma crossbars over the bed.
very nice, very detail!
What solution did you come up with for took hooks?

Do you have a price breakdown of everything you used for the build?
Not by price, but everything is listed in the description.
Both side windows of my iKamper skycamp mini were broken after opening the tent after the winter. (Less than a year old)
The straps for closing the tent are causing this damage. After doing some research in the overland/youtube community I found out that this seems to be a known issue and that iKamper would cover this, despite iKamper stating:
"This is definitely NOT a common issue that happens with our tents or I'm sure there would be a lot more posts and videos of this happening across social media...but it definitely happened to you and we will make that right. ...
What we have done in previous situations (??? so it did happen to other customers or not ??? - this is nonsense what they are writing there) like this is we will completely replace both the tent skin itself as well as the rainfly with a brand new one. Because this really is not a common case and we have replaced them in the past(???), people that have had them replaced have not had an issue of the new skin doing the same thin. ..."
iKamper didn't want to talk to me directly in the beginning and made me go through the dealership.
Interesting. That’s the first I’ve heard of that problem, but would explain why they moved away from those windows in the 3.0.
What did you use to mount those roam cases? Are those camstraps or something else?
Lashing straps for now. Once the tent is on the bed rack and I can figure out the position I’ll be drilling and permanently mounting.
@@RevereOverland Gotch, thanks for replying, sick rig🤙🏽
any plans to cut up your front bumper?
Yes, as soon as a bumper is released
Looks good. You already sell your tuff stuff alpha tent?
I did!
@@RevereOverland alright. Thanks. Keep the videos coming 🤘🏻
When will the fog lights be out for sale to the public from heretic?
Hopefully by the end of the month
Hey Rob, Was chatting with Justin B McBride the other day. Would love to collaborate on a trip sometime. Haven't done much with my channel but doing tons of trips with my family. Building a Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0 trailer now. Redoing my Switch Pros electrical and dialing in my solar setup. Met you at Overland West but would love to connect sometime if you're in LA area.
That sounds good!
Thanks for sharing; this isn’t my thing…I’m more interested in accessories for the bed
You are filming a lot of great from content out west. Are you still teaching?
No, I left September last year!
@@RevereOverland I figured. I’m still in the game, but I’m really wanting May for Moab & August for Colorado
Where can I get the seat jackers? As is a little low for a short guy.
Nice!
What is the big screen you have where the stereo goes?
That would be the stereo
@@RevereOverland is that factory?
You better go with SHW Off-Road, lol
It appears to be the better choice!
I bought the 2011 Rock Warrior many years ago because I didn't like the tundra chrome.
Do you have the red arc and battery placement video up
I don't, since I'm not happy with the wiring yet. It's something I plan on working on soon.
It's strong car. I like it .❤
Drilling into the roof oh man be careful with rust.
Prinsu did the install, so should know what they’re doing!
Have you ever wondered if all that you have added exceeded payload capacity? Yes that’s an overlander’s fear, every little thing you add to the vehicle you have to subtract from the payload, I’ve watched many overlanders to know enough that everyone doesn’t care about it.
Probably did with the 4Runner. There's a little more wiggle room in the Tundra!
@@RevereOverland mkay
Is that a TRD
Yup. Limited with a TRD Off Road package
