One of the great things about the studio Bob Dylan recording is that he begins the song speaking the words as if he were just reading them and then one word comes along and he infuses it with a little melody and then goes back to uttering, and there is just so much genius in that little detail

Sorry it took 7 years to see this but it's a perfect comment to a brilliant cover of one of Dylan's "oddest masterpieces."

Simply marvelous! Bob Dylan's shaggy dog homage to the American Western movie recast as a Scottish folk ballad with an extraordinary power and grace.

Great arrangement. The vocalist/story teller, like Michael Been preaching. The accordion, reminisce of
Garth Hudson. Loved the background vocals, answering back A Dylan classic. I loved it!

This is so incredibly special!! tears of joy for most of it☺☺a lot of bob fans think i'm insane because i include brownsville girl in my top 5 bob songs!it's one of the most emotional songs i've ever had the pleasure to listen to,i thought i was gonna be sad that they had no backing singers, then came the chorus and these guys even recreated some of the queens of rhythm's magic lines☺☺☺i'd never heard anything from Bonnie Prince Billy before, that's all about to change☺huge thank you for posting!!

That was breathtaking-seen it for the first time today, Dylan's most post 60's expansive, movie landscape masterpiece that would have sat at the top of any late 60's album. Wonderful, never heard a cover of it until today-thanks!

oh there was this song I've heard one time....
I couldn't remember who's it was, or what it was called....
all I could remember was a Gregory peck, he was shot in the back....
so I googled it and I got here.
I am so happy I got here, soul has been poured into this, I can feel it.
I was worried that like other covers you would change it a little bit where it shouldn't have been changed,
but you didn't mess it up at all... I am sure bob Dylan would love this vrs. this was great, thank you!

At this point, it might honestly be my most watched UA-cam video ever. Sometimes I think a cover can be better than the original when the performers have such palpable love and admiration for the source material. This is one of those. Thank you, Will!

It's one of Bob's best songs, from one of his worst albums. Weird that. The original New Danville Girl is even better imo. Dylan's voice is operatic on that one. Kudos to BPB for tackling this one. Ambitious.
