My favorite one out of all of these was the scene where during a gunfight scene there was a dude playing Doom 2 arcade cabinet while listening to the Ace Of Spades by Motorhead. That one is just too awesome.
Too bad it never actually came out on arcades and it was made just for film.
That man is playing Galaga! Thought we wouldn't notice...but we did :)
Love the Robocop 2 Scene. Notice how every game in the arcade is a Data East Game. Robocop Arcade, made by Data East. Sneaky advertising showcase.

Anybody know of a weird Japanese PC game that looks similar to Facade with a guy disguised as a plant dancing in a flower pot? I remember seeing it played in a movie once. The game is real, but I don't know the title. Hence why I'm watching videos like this one.
The Shaun of the Dead scene is great, because Shaun gives the same exact instructions to Ed while fending off zombies at the Winchester later.
This was a lot of fun to watch. A lot of great memories were just relived again. Thanks for posting this!
I love this video, especially The Last Starfighter scene. It takes me back to a simpler time.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING AND POSTING THIS VIDEO! IT IS SO MUCH FUN AND A ABSOLUTE '80S AND '90S NOSTALGIC BLAST TOO WATCH! I WILL WATCH THIS VIDEO ON AND OFF FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT EVER REMOVE IT 😎🤘
Missed The Lawnmower man - flight game. Being a kid i was dreaming to play it...
I admire the dedication to grabbing movie clips. For Wreck it Ralph, I would have just put a slide of the movie poster or something. lol
Terminator 2, the Original Karate Kid, the Dirt Bike Kid. Too many to name. I love the 80's😊
I love the power glove, it's so bad.
you are a video freak! 1:31
The FP movie?? Wikipedia: creating the movie for 45,000 and box office found 40,000. humm ok
"And I mean BAD. This thing is BAD. Why do you need a glove to play a game?"
They need more power... Haha I just quest
Long live the video games! 😊
My favourite gaming related scene of movie history. Jackie Chan as Chun-Li in City Hunter.
This is awesome. Thanks for putting this together!
Video gaming movies I've seen so far:
WarGames, Shaun of the Dead, Tron, The Avengers, Terminator 2, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Wreck-It Ralph, The Thing, The Hurt Locker, Airplane, Snakes On A Plane, Toy Story, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Back To The Future Part II, Ghostbusters 2, 40 Year Old Virgin, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Lost In Translation, The Karate Kid, Robocop 2, Dawn Of The Dead, Superman III, Jaws, The Princess Bride, Rookie Of The Year, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Aliens.
5:57- ...Is he playing with an Atari 5200 controller. ...But those thing don't flappin' work.
9:36- Elijah Wood? What are YOU doing here?
How was Grandmas Boy not included in this? Man the dance dance revolution scene is the funniest shit
Great selection, sadly missing one I was hoping to see, The Twilight Zone Movie... Tempest Kid with his cartoon imaginings.
Sooo happy the City Hunter Street Fighter scene is in here.
A few movies you missed were...."The Stepfather" "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" "Disturbia" "Brother From Another Planet" "Grandma's Boy" "Quarantine 2"
lmao, I loved the guy pouring his drink into the chess game. So accurate. When I was little, if my computer was running slow, I would threaten it that I was going to pour my drink on it, and I swore that it would actually listen to me and start running properly...
IN THE ARMY NOW- OPENING SCENE PAULY SHORE IS PLAYING A TANK GAME!!! WOOT WOOT !!!
Thank you for this video and posting the movies names. I've seen most of these movies but not all. You now gave me something new to obsesse over lmfao
Regina was playing Tempest in "Night of The Comet".
i love how some of the older movies would use atari pac-man sounds for any video game! :)
There are 2 movies that also include video games. In the movie 'The Net' you can see the character of Sandra Bullock playing the game Wolfenstein 3d and in the Flemish movie BenX the protagonist Ben plays the MMO game Archlord and sometimes you also see images of that game with the avatar of the main character.
Doom 2 Arcade cabinet!? Awesome!!!
according to John Romero, it was a custom cabinet meant for the movie.
10:03 Tony Hawk's Underground 2 !!!
You're right. I'm appalled that a mistake has been made here. I hope Emilio doesn't see before we fix it. I will have Travis's head on a platter for this. Thanks for watchin!
Missing a little Generation X and Steel. In Generation X Jubilee plays Virtua Fighter (except the whole thing is in demo mode) until she accidentally blows up the cabinet. Steel has a weapons dealer who uses an arcade as a front. It even has a Batman Forever Arcade.
I always wanted to find an arcade like the one in the ninja turtles movie when I was a kid!
i've been trying to find the bishop of battle for 22 years. didn't know who was in it or what it was called, but i vaguely remembered the graphic head. thank you. years of frustration ended.
Missing the game boy clip from Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie
“ The Beach ”
It was 2nd
at 8:00 is Surf Ninjas, not 3 ninjas. And found out because I remember seeing the movie but didn't recall the name so I checked the list and I knew it wasn't 3 ninjas because the kids were different, a friend actually helped track the correct movie. Surf Ninjas 1993. The best times.
We need to bring back the arcades!!!!
Rumble in the Bronx - Keyung give a kid a GameGear and he plays it... With no game in the back
Pretty thorough list there. I'm impressed! Many of my favorite cinematic/gaming moments were represented. And oh my god, I have to hunt down that Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again movie. This is like the third time that movie has come up in stuff I've seen online in the past year.
LOL! I remember that. For some reason Hollywood had a poor grasp on videogames during the 90s and 2000s. Just look at that scene from The Hurt Locker, the guy is playing Gears of War (a 2006 game) and the movie happens during 2004.
Too good. What's the film with Harry Dean Stanton playing Pong?
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, the good and the bad! =)
Street Fighter : The Movie ; M. Bison controls landmines with SF2 arcade sticks.
And Bloodsport , where Frank Dux and Jackson play Karate Champ.
Arcades got people out of the house to hang and mingle. Now kids are in a room playing virtual games online. Why shower or drink anything but coke. Memories shouldn't just be personal. Invite your friends over once in a while. I grew up to enjoy the best part of movies, music and video games. Have fun.
You see Halo 2 in The Longest Yard. The guy goes "You guys got Halo 2! I didn't even know that was out yet!"
In Disturbia, with shia, he plays battlefield on 360
I think the only movie missing is Hackers which had a rad arcade. Good call on Soylent Green. I believe this was the first time a videogame appeared in a movie.
BTW,the Doom arcade cabinet from Grosse Point Blank is bogus. I remember several people to EGM asking where they could find one.
Thanks.
even Mordecai and Rigby agree - the Power Glove blew.
Great suggestions all, thank you!
Beautifully done job on editing up this scenic collage. Would be cool to do a second video for all the films you missed.
Don't forget the fighting game sounds coming from it
I looked for this but I couldn't find it in time.
This is awesome, but I kept expecting How To Make A Monster to pop up somewhere! Love it though, especially California Man. Reminds me I need to watch that again!
oh, Dang It! the movie Bingo (1991) is not in this video! what scurvy luck!
Tried to remember some video game appearances not covered here. Defender appeared in some random movie from the 80s (played in freeplay mode). Surprised National Lampoon's Vacation wasn't in this. No mention of Koyaanisqatsi (Ms. Pac-Man featured prominently).
We included it in an early draft but we pulled tv stuff to give the video more of a movie focus.
Men, they've beat me, I can't think even one movie videogame out of these
I remember my first arcade game, it was X-Men way back in 91.
Oh my god! 20 min!
Needs more Suburban Commando, brother!
There were a few scenes in the original Karate Kid movie that had arcade games.
Please post a list of the movies! I know most of these, but the ones I don't know look awesome!
Indeed!
"Slumdog Millionaire" - As the film starts, young Jamal and his friends are being chased by cops in a maze of slums akin to Pac-Man, and they run through a video game parlor. (The cop is Pac-Man, who just ate a flashing dot and the kids are the ghosts who are about to bet eaten when blue.)
I love this.
There was also Wolfenstein 3D in the movie The Net.
That is true. A typo on our part.
Good to know about BB, I'll add it to our list!
Good call.
That was exhaustive. But, not exhausting! The only scene I can think of, that needs to be on this list, is the infamous "You shit-bombed my house, man!" From Patrick Dempsey's, "Can't Buy Me Love!" Also, the "after-the-credits" ending to Crank 1 is missing, as it would be a spoiler, to no anyone who hasn't watched it.
thanks
What about the scene in one of the Charlie's Angels films? The one where the two kids are playing Final Fantasy VIII...two player. You know, that single player game?
Ninja III : The Domination!
I was totally expecting to see Hackers in this, and also the scene from the beginning of National Lampoon's Vacation where Russ is trying to to swallow up the family Roadster with Pac-Man
the karate kid part had me dying
awesome video was expecting a Scene from Hackers lol
Haha, yeah that scene immediately comes to my mind when I hear "video game cameos". But no it wasn't multiplayer, they were just playing a part in Final Fantasy 8 where you only have 2 characters (Squall and Quistis) in your party.
We thought about editing them chronologically but decided against it.
I love the Power Glove. It's so bad.
When i think of video games in movies I think of charlie's angles and how they played ffviii with two players and n64 controllers
Can't believe there is no:
1. The Doom Generation - Mortal Combat scene
2. Hackers - Wipeout scene
That freddy kruger scene made me laugh ungodly amounts
I was hoping to see a funny short film I once saw in 1984 on Select TV. It centered around some kind of flight combat arcade game that had very realistic consequences which would have fit in nicely with the clips near the end.
what about the arcade scene in surburban commando
Awesome!
back in the 80's and mid 90's The computers had voice
The guy can't here machine gun fire, in an enclosed area, over his headphones...
Thanks, fixed!
I'd be more interested in a list of movies accompanied by identifications of every video game shown. That'd be fun. Some cabinets had no screen or marquee shown. Those would be good challenges for veterans.
No Wayne's World with the Noah's Arcade commercial?
Orphan - Guitar Hero
Wow the best video game scene ever?....,,, "Whats high score mean? Did i break it?"
so true.
9:49, only just realized, the kid on the left, Elijah Wood, lil frodo!
I was waiting to see a few clips from The Brother From Another Planet (1984) in this video. :(
Still pretty sweet, though.
I just kept waiting for Big.
The Lawnmower Man had to be there as well.
I will always remember 2 player Final Fantasy 8 in charlies angels 2.
Very nice, but where is the Uwe Boll footage
I was going to be pissed if this didn't have The Last Starfighter in it...and it did.
