Hi there, yes there were 1-2 lifeguards watching the kids play at all times. We didn't get any explanation on the shades. They started putting a few up half way through our stay. Not many. Guests had to wake up ultra early to get those shaded seats.
Royalton splash is miles better than crown paradise. Royalton is truly a 5 star hotel. The service, amenities, shows, food, everything is beyond spectacular. Crown paradise claims to be a 4 star, it's more of a 3.5 star. Of course, it's also much cheaper, so it mostly depends on your budget.
How old was your youngest? I'm bringing a 3 & 4 yr old and want to make sure the 3 yr old can use the area with the slides (Kids Paradise area) not just the Baby Paradise area
my kids were 8, 6, and almost 4. They let kids any age use the kids paradise slides. All kids under 4 require a parent present. My littlest one even tried the bigger slide by the ocean. If your toddler is planning on trying the bigger slide, make sure you bring a life jacket.
Hello thank you for the info. I was wondering how much money did you bring on hand with you. We are getting prepared to go there next year. And I hear that running out of money is really a big deal. Any information would help thank you
Hi there, we didn't go on any excursions or do any shopping during this trip. From past experiences, all the excursion sites take credit card (although I highly DON'T recommend this method of payment). If you are planning to do excursions, they range about 70-200 per person. We usually set aside 30-40 dollars for tips everyday (this is optional, the price you paid actually includes tips).
Were there any lifeguards at the kid's slide park area? Did they explain why the shades were down?

Thanks for another great review. If you had to choose between Royalton splash and crown paradise which would it be ??
