My Retro Grail at LONDON GAMING MARKET?

- On Sunday 30th June 2004 I went to the London Gaming Market. It was mega busy but boy were there some nice items for sale! I grabbed a combo of hardware / software, Sega / Nintendo, and everything in between. One pick up was a grail item for me in terms of the nostalgia it holds.
Us blokes are on average pretty pants at talking about mental health. If you're feeling down please do something about it and have a talk with someone. There are lots of places that may help but I've included details of an amazing Men's club below that is around the country.

25:40. Thats me you are talking about :) Thank you for your kind words its flattering and thank you for your patronage. I look forward to seeing you again in November my friend. Doom II is hard to find, Activision games always had weak boxes for the advance sadly. Super Mario Advance 2 is common but the issue with any of these games is finding these in decent condition and I price them on condition etc. I'll continue doing this not because it is easy but because it is hard and I enjoy the challenge and well and truly I do this for the collectors and it gives me great joy seeing someones face light up when they see something they desire and I can facilitate them. Contra 4 was only released in the USA developed by Wayforward who have done the new Contra for switch. The only other way to play contra 4 was on android at the time. :) Give Aliens Infestation a go for the DS if you haven't thats another great Wayford game built around the Aliens Franchise Metroidvania style!

Thanks for the recommendation with Contra 4. It wasn't one I'd clocked previously and it plays incredibly well. I went on a silly crusade for a 3ds full set a couple of years back but when it comes to the DS I'm a blooming amateur in terms of knowledge. I do have infestation and you're right, it's a cracking game!
Very pleased you're returning in November. I've sorted my ticket so hope to see you (and you fab family) again then. In the meantime if you come across the elusive Dick Tracy at a decentish price I'll forever be in your debt ;0).

A 36 minute ed waffle.... happy days 😂 it was me that got toki ed buddy 😄 i absolutely love that game, for me this is the best remake ever. Love how they did it and the extras in the box is great. You had to get that game and watch bud for the memories alone. You defo spent some cash there bud 😮 the contra/probotector stuff goes over my head 😂

They're great - first time I've played them since the late 90's when I played Time Crisis on a mate's machine. If you've any light gun recommendations for the ps1 Marcus pls shout! Have a goodun.

Very nice Ed. My nostalgia was for DK 1 & 2, DK JR and Bombsweeper Game & Watch. Got those and in mint Then I started buying others such as Mario Bros which I also loved but just to grow the collection. I ended up winning an auction for £120 for blackjack. I had to go for it as it was mint, like new, all the inserts everything. It was so mint I thought it could of been a repro but checked it out and all legit (also the last game &watch to be sold in Japan). I've seen figures of £3.5k on ebay. I mean, It takes the piss but my god good to know I got a decent price Would love a vid on Gold Cliff mate and others in your collection if you haven't already 💪

Going into the "4"s for this video! I've always wanted to play Contra 4 but I never have! As you know, I adore the series and sadly my DS library of games is very small. And I used to play the Tony Hawk games religiously almost in high school, but I've never played the 4th one of that either, lol
Haha, you're right; all the 4's :0). Contra 4 is a good one particularly with the portrait duel-screen viewpoint. Perhaps a bit of a cheaper one to buy in your part of the world as it don't get a release here.
The Tony Hawk games are proper escapism for me. I can spend a chunk of time free styling around the areas without even focusing on the challenges!

I didn't realise the DS was the only way to play Contra 4. Love me some Contra. I do believe it was released on mobile devices, but that doesn't count.

Doom II on the GBA is definitely one you don't see very often. And I didn't know there was a Contra 4 on the DS either. I may have to look that one up as I do love a bit of Contra. 😀

I'm delighted with Gold Cliff. I see if every now and again but usually unboxed and beaten. I must have thrown the box away back in the day as I really don't remember the box art on the back.
Contra 4 is really good (and obv ruddy hard!); the use of both DS screens makes it a tad different from your other Contras but in a good way.

With point blank, i remember playing that in my mates front room a couple of days after it came out! Im sure we had controllers on the floor and used them as reload pedals. I may be imagining that though! 😂

Hey Dan! Hope you're well mate. Was a tad busy even though they changed the ticketing approach to phase entry. I stayed well away from the big sellers which helped; nothing worse than having to wrestle to look at some games haha.
Ooh, that sounds cool. May have been the foot controller for timecrisis (I may be completely wrong but thought it could be used when you wanted to crouch/duck)

Well remembered my friend. I do own a couple of MemCard’s, but not a MCP2. I’ve got the one for the PS and GC. I think the MCP2 is an awesome bit of kit and one I’m definitely looking to pick up. I’m looking to get a HD installed in my PS2 and the MCP2 is a must have by all accounts.

Every now and again ;0). Ooh, sounds like a decent PS2 mod. The MCP2 is decent albeit I haven't yet sorted the wifi / cloud back up. Spent an hour trying to fire it up before realising that the card slot on the PS was knackered haha - we've mainly been playing TV Gameshow titles which didn't save anything .
I do love the GBA. I keep meaning to trawl through some YT vids for some recommendations of further games for it.
Put a bit of time into Contra 4 this week. Definitely a challenging one (but wouldn't be a Contra game if it was easy!) but is v enjoyable.

I packed my PS1 stuff away last year and now you've made me want to get it back out 😂 Having a light gun would definitely be a good reason to set it up again. Goldcliff looks nice, I don't know it but was nice to hear about it.

That family are great aren't they. The guy pops up every now again on a UA-cam podcast; oddly it's Sega focused as opposed to Nintendo! Some of it is his own collection but he must do some reselling too - always some great goodies.

I can’t remember the last time I see you taking a look at ps1! Cool boarders mate the soundtracks on those games are banging the first two I remember very well . Driver lol yeah that tutorial don’t think I made it out the car park haha. Billy ocean releasing pinball 😅. The actua tennis games were very good at the time not sure how they would feel going back to them now. Gran turismo and Tony hawks absolute classics throw toca in there and that’s an OG ps1 era! I have the G con time crisis ! That point blank looks cool! I might play time crisis with it soon I haven’t touched it in years!

I'm really getting into the ps1 thing. First time ever really. I had one a little while ago but just a handful of games that I didn't really played. The old crt was moved on and that was it.
I tried Driver again last night and was absolutely ruddy sticking. I even checked out a YT vid of someone beating it and couldn't mirror them!
Actua tennis isn't too shabby but not a touch on virtua tennis 2 on the Sega DC.

Hey James! It was a tad busy even with the new phasing of the tickets. Japanese / Scottish Alan's section was a bit of a no-go as I couldn't be bothered to wrestle to look at games! Fortunately the gameboy dealers and smaller ones were quieter and it was how it should be.
Thank you; am having some back and forth with a Spanish seller of Dick Tracy. Thought it may be worth a shot albeit will need to weave in customs charges on any deal that gets made.
Haha, mad isn't it about Toki haha. The Lynx one is definitely bottom of the pile. The MD version is great but I still think they could have made it a bit more colourful and arcade like.

Hey Nick! I hope you're well mate. I was over the moon with Gold Cliff - haven't seen it boxed and the system on its own is usually pricey. If it wasn't for the nostalgia it would likely have been looked over.
I was thinking the same thing after grabbing this one. They did Mario and Zelda and it then came to a halt. I was expecting Metroid particularly as it's very much still a live 1st party series.

I'd be up for some multi-player GAMEBOY/ADVANCE if you bring your games, we could also do it via the one that connects to the TV and use the consoles as pads, I've multiples of a few obvious Link games Street Fighter II and FIFA 06 being 2 but not loads.

@@RetroEdUK I won't be happy till I see it in hand fault free, I've the weirdest feeling some of the pages aren't the right size as looking at his proof to print the first few are different, no idea why it's not all uniform??? He's assured me my fault finding was correct and it's been put right. Surely that's the printers job anyway, it's been stressful mate and I am actually worried, I know I am being paranoid but it doesn't help with the build up of going to collect what I've spent just under a year working on, it's not exactly anxiety, more I just want it all done with no issues then I can shut my over thinking brain off and relax.
