From the androgyny of Prince, to the vocal mannerisms of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, Little Richard's impact on pop culture was ubiquitous. James Brown began his career as a Little Richard impersonator, Hendrix started playing guitar in Richard's band and Michael Jackson deemed him a major influence. A pioneering figure in the development of soul and funk, Little Richard is most remembered as a founding father of early Rock'n'roll. He blew the lid off the 50s with game changing songs such as "Tutti Frutti" and "Good Golly Ms Molly",becoming a benchmark by which excellence is judged. He acheived all of this under the glaring shadow of segregation, often being denied radio airplay. Bravely fighting against systematic racism, Richard shattered the colour line in music, changing American pop culture forever and becoming one of the most influential figures in entertainment. Long live The Innovator, The Originator and The Architect of Rock'n' roll
God bless Mr. Richard Wayne Penniman God bless Rock & Roll. Nice to imagine the yesterday meeting in the sky, on a cloud, between Little Richard, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown. Amazing.
Little Richard was an incredible performer. He would work himself into total exhaustion by the end of his set. He was not really sane, of course, but what a gift it was to see him live with his own band in the 1960s. NOBODY packed more wallop than Richard & I saw the Stones live back in those days.
It's impossible to listen to this man's music and not be overcome with excitement and energy. Dancing wildly is one of the side-effects of his music. His songs should come with a warning label. RIP Little Richard. You were one of the greats! ❤
As a teenager in the '50's Lucille was my favorite Rock 'N Roll song. I wore out many a 45 RPM Record playing this song. The beginning beat was the best ever.
Lucille has one of the iconic intros in rock history. If something aint movin check your pulse. Jimi Hendrix was his guitar player for a short period of time.
Little Richard rocks the stages when he played the piano. He knew how to keep that heavy sound using the saxophones in a continuous pattern. He left the stage for 10 years , but came back with no new record .But Lucia was so ahead of his time that the new generation like it.
Remember watching Little Richard on TV as a young child in the late 60’s early 70’s and in complete awe. I would turn around and ask my mother if she remembered him growling up, she couldn’t answer right away because she was busy dancing. There was my answer.
This is the man who made music happen for me. I was only a toddler when I first heard my grandad's rock and roll records playing and Little Richard' was the one who had me bouncing round the room. Immense performances and what a voice!!!!!!!!
Richard once said that Elvis Presley was "a blessing"...because Elvis LOVED "black music", and brought it to a white audience, and brought MANY black artists into more opportunity than they ever could have attained otherwise...
Despite all the things these people went through they still got on that stage and gave us the biggest show you can imagine it almost feel like you was there.....Thanks to all..

Thank you Mr. Penniman for letting this here white boy let it all hang out forever at the tender age of 4 in 1962.....I'm 64 now and still rockin' out with my first love in r n r....Lucille. Ty LR for making me the rocker I still am....R'N'R WILL NEVER DIE!!!!🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶💪💪👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎.
That's my favourite moment of Little Richards when he says I want all to women to say Wooooooow .... And all the man to say Huuuuh ! Amazing he's just putting how it actually is !
Wow, read about his passing and never knew about him, but today i found an amazing talented and awesome artist. Definitely the best. Wow he is just the best. Rip little Richard.
I agree with you hes 80 years old now so the Lord saw it all that is amazing for a Rockin Roll star they have such a Stressfull Life but hes still alive and he does shows from time to time he has such a nice personality we see him all the time out here in nashville Jesus books are gifts he hands out he gives everyone that comes up to him a hello and a book what a great guy!!!!!!
I hear echoes of Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, and Mick Jagger. Such a major influence on many of the sixties and seventies artists! The king of Rock and Roll!
Thanks for this Noel. I think it's hard for today's younger folks to understand (or even believe) what it was like for Black musicians back when Little Richard came along. When I was growing up in the South, we (Blacks) didn't hear black music on the radio and if Black musicians were ever on t.v., our t.v. screen would suddenly fade to black. When the Black artist finished, our t.v. screen would fade back to lights, camera, action! And this was not in the 1800s!

Are you talking about his package?
@@jou7363 Nope, absolutely Rock'n Roll ! But of course, it was vastly influenced by black music at that time (blue, boogie-woogie, etc...)
None of you were around in 1956, there wasn't rock and roll before this cat. He was an anomaly
Little Richard at 41 here, amazing he broke through so many barriers, great band too. RIP
He did more for gays and Black Lives Matter than all of the protesters today combined.
