From the androgyny of Prince, to the vocal mannerisms of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, Little Richard's impact on pop culture was ubiquitous. James Brown began his career as a Little Richard impersonator, Hendrix started playing guitar in Richard's band and Michael Jackson deemed him a major influence. A pioneering figure in the development of soul and funk, Little Richard is most remembered as a founding father of early Rock'n'roll. He blew the lid off the 50s with game changing songs such as "Tutti Frutti" and "Good Golly Ms Molly",becoming a benchmark by which excellence is judged. He acheived all of this under the glaring shadow of segregation, often being denied radio airplay.
