What tracks by Macca should we hit next week? Let me know here! This man never fails to impress me. Studio or live... it doesn't matter. Paul and Wings ALWAYS bring it.
From The Space Within Us 2005 Concert DVD: "Too Many People / She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" The second song immediately follows the first, and the crowd went wild. Or from the Run Devil Run LP: "All Shook Up", "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" (Yes this one had a video), "No Other Baby" (also has a video), "Shake a Hand" OR for a live version of All Shook Up go to Paul McCartney - All Shook Up LIVE - Friday 3 December 1999 (The Parkinson Show). (Dave Gilmore is on this live cut plus this show has many more great live cuts)
I saw McCartney and Wings LIVE at the Old Spectrum in Philadelphia do this Album and a few Beatle tunes WAY back in 1976 IT was as close to seeing the Beatles as you could get
What a start to the last Monday of the year. All tracks are great, many thanks, Petsbsn for your choice. Paul just gets better with time. Great reaction, L33, nailed it! Blessings all.
They sing about the Rock Show at the Concertgebouw. I went to their show in Amsterdam in the early seventies. My parents also went with us. Those were the days. 🎶🎶🎶
IF I remember correctly THIS is the Tune Paul Opened the show with. All I remember BEFORE the SHOW was my younger sister was PISSED at me for ME taking my Girlfriend instead of her
“Jet” studio album version (youve already done the live version), and I think you’re going to really love “Girls School” (seen other people request that one in the past as well.) 😊 Thanks Lee! Respect!
Imagine Lee that you’re 13-years-old in the ‘70’s and you’re broke. You see an advertisement with Columbia Record Club and for a penny you can order 12 albums with a commitment to buy 6 more at regular price. It’s a major record company making a contract with children across America without parental consent. That’s how I acquired Born to Run, Who’s Next, Darkside of the Moon, Damn the Torpedoes, etc.. and of course Band on the Run and Venus and Mars. Now imagine my brothers Tom, Tim, Terry and Mickey do the same thing. That’s five illegal contracts equaling 60 albums to share. Then imagine RCA Record Club had a similar deal. Well, that’s how broke Muck began his vinyl record collection. I love this record so. My 18-year-old son asked me why we listened to the whole albums. I explained as Rock and Roll grew in popularity and artists wrote their own songs every track became important. Most of my favorite songs were not the hits but rather the tracks surrounding the hits. For instance I love Born to Run but my favorite song is Backstreets. That’s just how it was. From V&M’s Letting Go, Medicine Jar and Call Me Back Again are great. The latter was my answering machine greeting. I love what you do. The song choices are superb. You’re the portal to our youth. Imagine that.
I didn't build my record collection (modest collection...about 500 albums) with the Columbia Record Club. My order wasn't close to the ones I ordered....thought I was scammed. But, when people will ask why I bought (and still buy) albums, your reasoning is spot on. On Born To Run, the Bo Diddley beat in She's The One just got me going. Albums were meant to be played from Track 1 through the last track. There was a reason behind it whether there was a specific track or not. And, often the best songs were not the singles.
Venus and Mars/Rock Show is one of my all time favorites from sir Paul. Loved it when it first came out and still do, even though it is painfully short. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and doing the best I can to look forward to 2025. Take care all!
You need to check out Medicine Jar (written and sung by Jimmy) It's a solid piece of power pop with McCartney being the best sideman he could be... Happy New Year! Cheers!
I loved Band on the Run album, so when Venus and Mars came out, I bought it right away. I love both of those albums, and Ram as well, and still play them in my playlist. McCartney was one of the fathers of progressive rock IMO
He is the GOAT !!! Thanks for this and have a Very Happy New Year !!! Oh for first in 2025 try Old Siam Sir and Average person !!! oh and hes just finished his Got Back tour at the age of 82 do a set of well over 30 songs in just less than 3 hours non stop !! The man is best ever !!
First Wings album I listened to was Venus & Mars (Linda took the photo for the Album's cover), it remains my favourite along with Ram. Jimmy McCulloch's song Medicine Jar is a must.
Venus & Mars as well as Band on the Run are Paul McCartney's greatest accomplishments post Beatles (but I still say that Paul adding his "ear worm" to John's "heart and soul" has never been musically been beat).
Yes Paul is a phenomenon! A musical genius! He created the coolest songs and these are two of them! Studio versions are always better as far as sound but it's also nice to see the videos of Paul in person back in the day!
Having heard the live versions, it's now time for the studio tracks- I see. I prefer the live versions, but still a good call, Lee. When you get back to finishing "Wings Over America" I suggest you check out "Hi, Hi, Hi" and "Letting Go".
I own the Venus & Mars album/cd and Wings Across America album/cd. Studio of Venus &Mars/Rock Show is good, Very Good. But the live Version on Wings Across America, with the inclusion of Jet is just about the best opening of a concert, in concert or CD, that I ever heard. And I have been to a few big shows, and own a ton of live albums/cds. I love live albums!
Then, there is side two.....I really love "Call Me Back Again" and "Treat Her Gently - Lonely Old People" - those are the two that stick in my head. Beautiful melodies. Macca could do no wrong on this album.
Medicine Jar from this album is another outstanding rocker, though not a Paul song. Still, when it comes to every aspect of creating great songs, Sir Paul has no equal. Pure genius.
Hello. You may enjoy some of his later work, for example, "Biker Like An Icon" from his "Off the Ground" album and "That Was Me" from the "Memory Almost Full" work. Of course, both albums are full of great tunes. "Biker Like An Icon" - ua-cam.com/video/1hH11ySnqJc/v-deo.html "That Was Me" - ua-cam.com/video/NSyWIUWNsyI/v-deo.html
Some people say the song Venus and Mars was written at the Plaza Hotel in NYC the night George and Paul signed the papers to dissolve The Beatles. John didn’t show as planned and sent 2 balloons. John and Yoko are said to be Venus and Mars with Lennon being the “good friend” who follows the stars. He supposedly didn’t go to the meeting at the advice of an astrologer. Below are what is said the lyrics were: “Sitting in the suite of the Plaza hotel Waiting for the end to begin Bloody papers, strawberry line A good friend of mine, follows the stars Yoko and John are alright tonight”
Ahhh, this album takes me back to my high school days! You need to listen to Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five from the Band On The Run album, if you haven’t already.
Great Album, I rank it almost as good as Band on the Run except for the awful last song, the theme to Crossroads, possibly the worst soap on British TV 😂
letting go , Venus and Mars version, not teh single edit , and Letting go from Wings over América and Beware my love , studio version not with john Bonham
IMO this was Paul's last great album. These two songs (three, actually) demonstrate Paul's mid-70's powers as both a rocker and with earworm pop. The way "Rock Show" name-checks Jimmy Page, plus the mention of 'scoring an ounce'... so edgy! Plus it might be Jimmy McCulloch's finest moment on record with Wings.
I really like this album, but it has always felt like the lite version of "Band on the Run". "Venus and Mars" sounds like the songs that didn't make the cut for "Band on the Run". McCartney at his solo best, still a great album.
Why don't you play the live version back to back with the studio version, then have a vote of which one is liked better? That would be cool. and why stop their? that could be the next big thing.
The album always confuses me anew because of the sound. To me it sounds somewhat hollow, unfinished, underproduced. The quality of the songs shines in the live performances.
What tracks by Macca should we hit next week? Let me know here! This man never fails to impress me. Studio or live... it doesn't matter. Paul and Wings ALWAYS bring it.

Beware My Love or Letting Go or Arrow Through Me!!!!!!!!!!!!! (There are live video versions of Beware My Love and Letting Go with Wings.)
Have you done "Jet" from Band On The Run yet? Bona fide banger
Absolutely RINSE THE RAINDROPS
Somedays (Flaming Pie) House Of Wax (Memory Almost Full)
I prefer the studio versions of most songs as a first listen, but that’s just me. Thanks Pat😊
Same, the studio version is better by far.
Another MUST HEAR Classic track off this very same album (& A personal favorite),,
Paul McCartney "Medicine Jar"
To be fair, “Medicine Man” is a Jimmy McCullough song rather than a McCartney one. But yeah, such an underrated banger.
@@edgarlazaro859 That is true,, But is on a McCartney album (Venus And Mars)
Macca Mondays are always fun 😊 I love Paul's voice too.
Growing up was a big Paul McCartney & Wings fan, still am, but the Band on the Run, Venus & Mars albums really showed Paul's quality.
IMHO 1 of Pauls best albums and 2 of his best songs
I agree 👍 Wings never sounded better than Band on the Run and this one.
Agreed, my father bought this LP on release and as an eight year old, I loved it.
This is great. I haven’t heard these songs in about 30 years. ❤
I can’t believe I remember all the words!!
Magneto should have been an A side, it worms its way under your skin immediately. Just brilliant pop.
Paul's voice was amazing. He had it all! I'm so glad he's still performing for us. Good reaction video!
Excellent album!
You can't go wrong with Wings ... fun album
They sing about the Rock Show at the Concertgebouw. I went to their show in Amsterdam in the early seventies. My parents also went with us. Those were the days. 🎶🎶🎶
This album is my favorite from Paul & Wings. It's just so good! Every song is great.
IF I remember correctly THIS is the Tune Paul Opened the show with. All I remember BEFORE the SHOW was my younger sister was PISSED at me for ME taking my Girlfriend instead of her
Saw Wings in 1976 in Perth. Epic show.
I love "love in song" and "venus and Mars reprise" from this album.
Another engaging video. Thank you.
“Jet” studio album version (youve already done the live version), and I think you’re going to really love “Girls School” (seen other people request that one in the past as well.) 😊 Thanks Lee! Respect!
I always smile when I hear Paul namecheck Jimmy Page.
Fun album in a great run of albums
Good stuff, great album - I like this way better than the live versions you’ve heard.
my favorite wings album
You should see the live version; 1976 Seattle, I think. Awesome.
Please react to "Another Day"! Single from the time of the "Ram" album, 1971.

Paul’s best album outside of the Beatles.
Two great cuts from Paul. Love this album! ❤
Venus and Mars/Rock Show is one of my all time favorites from sir Paul. Loved it when it first came out and still do, even though it is painfully short. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and doing the best I can to look forward to 2025. Take care all!
To answer your question: no, there is nothing Paul McCartney can't do. That's why I love him so much ❤
You need to check out Medicine Jar (written and sung by Jimmy) It's a solid piece of power pop with McCartney being the best sideman he could be...
Happy New Year!
Cheers!
One of the first albums I owned as a young teen was Paul's first solo the cherry album, it has a special place in my heart. I love it. And I love Ram
Always listen to the album version FIRST!
Great album. I remember buying this when it came out & loved it from first play.
He's the GOAT..no doubt about it.
Wings was such a great group. Paul's solo catalog was vast, but it was mostly all of great quality.
Love this !!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I loved Band on the Run album, so when Venus and Mars came out, I bought it right away. I love both of those albums, and Ram as well, and still play them in my playlist. McCartney was one of the fathers of progressive rock IMO
I’m very partial to both BOTR and V&M as each album came out when I was in high school.
LOVE IN SONG is a beautiful, overlooked ballad!
His best album outside the Beatles, all killer no filler.
Magneto is one of my Favoriten Wings song. 🤘
Medicine Jar is a good one as well
Awesome picks
First Wings album I listened to was Venus & Mars (Linda took the photo for the Album's cover), it remains my favourite along with Ram. Jimmy McCulloch's song Medicine Jar is a must.
you said it all.
Every Arena Rock playlist I’ve ever made starts with these two songs. They basically define the genre.
This album helped my childhood survive
Venus & Mars as well as Band on the Run are Paul McCartney's greatest accomplishments post Beatles (but I still say that Paul adding his "ear worm" to John's "heart and soul" has never been musically been beat).
These are both excellent from my favorite Wings album! "Medicine Jar" and "Spirits Of Ancient Egypt" are also both awesome!.
I got this album for Christmas '75
So great that they had Allen Toussaint on piano - New Orleans royalty! Fantastic musician and producer.
Pop perfection is Magento.
Yes Paul is a phenomenon! A musical genius! He created the coolest songs and these are two of them! Studio versions are always better as far as sound but it's also nice to see the videos of Paul in person back in the day!

Yes, love Hi Hi Hi!

He's the best talent out there. I believe it, jesus believes it and zimmerman believe ot
Lee.... This is the first time I've heard the studio versions of Rockshow... There's more muscle to the live version. But this is ok....
Hello. You may enjoy some of his later work, for example, "Biker Like An Icon" from his "Off the Ground" album and "That Was Me" from the "Memory Almost Full" work. Of course, both albums are full of great tunes.

Great album!❤
Really good bass work on this. I guess that's not too surprising.
Wings had so many personnel changes every year. Only Paul, Linda and Denny Laine stayed in the band the entire time.
Do 'Treat Her Gently\Lonely Old People'.
Great album. Not a bad one on it
Some people say the song Venus and Mars was written at the Plaza Hotel in NYC the night George and Paul signed the papers to dissolve The Beatles. John didn’t show as planned and sent 2 balloons. Waiting for the end to begin
Bloody papers, strawberry line
A good friend of mine, follows the stars
Yoko and John are alright tonight”
Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!
Still my favorite Macca solo album. (Band on the Run is a close second!)
RIP: Denny Laine, Joe English & Jimmy McCollough.
Joe English still alive.
Ahhh, this album takes me back to my high school days! You need to listen to Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five from the Band On The Run album, if you haven’t already.
LEE--add the STONES and The WHO to the amazing longevity rockers.
there is Paul Mc Cartney and then the others
👏🏼❤️👏🏼
Disappointed that you missed the song at the segue. "Lve In Song" is a beauty.
Hopefully you'll do "Venus And Mars( reprise) / Spirits Of Ancient Egypt " it'll blow your mind:)
Great Album, I rank it almost as good as Band on the Run except for the awful last song, the theme to Crossroads, possibly the worst soap on British TV 😂
letting go , Venus and Mars version, not teh single edit , and Letting go from Wings over América
and Beware my love , studio version not with john Bonham
If you're going to do this you might as well watch the live version.
IMO this was Paul's last great album. These two songs (three, actually) demonstrate Paul's mid-70's powers as both a rocker and with earworm pop. A new group for your reaction. Girl you know it's True, by Mille Vanilli It came out that they lip sinked all their music
Could’ve used a little more cowbell 😂
The album always confuses me anew because of the sound. To me it sounds somewhat hollow, unfinished, underproduced. The quality of the songs shines in the live performances.
His best solo album after Ram. Almost everything he has done in the last 40 years has SUCKED.
Magneto and titanium man best versión is the live one
Watch the live performance video - it's much better than just listening
I bought this when it first came out. Disappointing. Too much goofy/silly material after the first couple of tracks.
