- Please see www.woodworkers... for more detailed text information on fitting the hinges to the gates. In Part 2 (coming soon!) I'll show you how to attach the hinges to the gate posts.
How to video, showing how to fit band and gudgeon hinges to a wooden gate, we also look at adjustable hinges and fieldgate hinges and briefly explain how to position the three types of hinges.
Taken from our step gate fitting guide (work in progress!) which can be found at www.woodworkers...

Very easy to understand thank you
I just wanted to say thank you for these videos. I am making a pair of gates to replace existing ones and I can find no where else that explains the placement and fitting as well as these videos.
this is brilliantly useful. Cheers
Very good explanation. Thank you.
Thank you very much - really clear & concise - appreciated.
Excellent ..it was really helpful
Very well explained helped me alot keep up the good work.
Excellent video
what if you're using a non cranked band and gudgeon? how do you know how much clearance to leave for them?
good for all
Excellent
hi there .. I need to hang a paddock gate from scratch. I will be attached to house wall. can you recommend hinges to take weight
I noticed that when you fitted the hinge to the gate outside, the line on the hinge was set back from the gate edge. This is not what you were saying at the start in the workshop.
After fitting a gate last week, I realise it’s not so crucial the band part position.
Yeah, lining up the hinge as shown early in the video seems like it would leave a big gap on the hinge edge, and there's no concern about clearance anyway because the gate pivotes "out" from the hinge due to the crank, as far as I can tell?
Hi there have some adjustable hinges from you guys. Haven't installed yet but looking at the parts, if I place the eye bolt onto the pin there's a reasonable amount of 'play' I e. Will cause the gate to hang down at an angle. Any way to account for this? I.e. make the pin essentially bit wider or eye narrower, assume paint would just flake off.
I have the same hinges and came here looking for the exact same answer.
@@deanbh90 In the end when I installed them it really wasn't the issue that I expected it would be. I think I installed the top hinge set back (I e. Very slightly away from the gate when closed) but really wasn't necessary and I think any play you may get would be easily fixed by tightening top hinge a bit more.
Would you have an email address as I have a couple of questions please.
You can learn more about it on WoodPrix webpage.
You can make it yourself, just loook and learn from woodprix.
