It might be that the fabric marker needed to be set with heat before washing! That has helped in a lot of my projects
I'll try that next time! It didn't have any instructions so I wasn't sure if I needed to do anything prior to washing 😅
@PricklyAlpaca I've even tried that technique with poscas on fabric, you just iron it a bit on the backside, works great on some fabrics, less on others heh, it's a trial and error at times and sometimes fun effects happen from it! (Like your flame two piece)

Oooh I've done the posca shirts to! I will say though the fabric can tear up the nibs on poscas
Ive generally found that sort of thing (and sharpie/permanent marker) need ironing to set well.
I second ironing! I made my husband & I matching concert tees and ironed them right-side out with a pressing cloth (cheesecloth) on top and then again inside out. They've only been worn & washed twice so far but the paint & marker is intact except for the glitter effect (😢).
Bleach can eat the fabric, so I would do the bleach stuff, then dunk shirt in water, then wring out & dunk in hydrogen peroxide, then wring out & water again (3 bucket system, 2 are water).
The instrumental song you used as bg music at 8:00 is the same instrumental used in Slimecicles “Jort Storm” an utter MASTERPIECE
Very relieved this video had the redemption arc it deserved. The pen may not have worked right, but I love the eye shirt just as much as the moth shirt and celestial shorts (the Ceaseless Watcher aesthetic helps a lot). Always thrilled to see you create... anything, really!

that’s so sick!! would definitely recommend making a tree bookshelf, tree/ moss rug, tiny mouse/frog house, giant button/leaf chair, plant lanterns, or a worm on a string scarf

i think with thrifted and second hand stuff, sometimes it doesn't bleach or take dyes well because it's taken a lot of detergent and softener build up over the years. i saw a tumblr post a week ago by prismatic-bell about how to kind of "reset" your clothes with a thing called laundry stripping where you put your clothes with warm water, half a cup of borax, half a cup of washing soda, and half a cup of laundry soap and then you leave it for 8+ hours and you put it in the dryer or hang to dry it
i haven't yet tried it myself but it sounds really promising :0

but also: (I was wrapping gifts while watching so i mightve missed if you did this) people dilute their bleach to get different values!! they don't layer 100% bleach on top of one another but rather work from darkest to lightest wash while increasing the concentration :) ♥
Yaas! I have a friend that does this. She does 50 percent water, 50 bleach in a squeeze bottle with a needle tip for fine lines.

When I was using bleach on clothes, I carved my own stamps, loaded the bleach on them and stamped once, reloaded and did it again. That might have been a massive time saver if you ever do another shirt with a repeated pattern on it. I really see the teeth boots with the eyeball shirt!!!

As a custom clothing artist, even when bleaching use a light white base coat for the colours to pop especially if the bleach hasn't lightened the fabric enough. The light white base coat is always used on dark fabrics and dark denim. And always heat set the paint afterwards. You did an amazing job though I always love you're work!

These are so awesome! Love the way this turned out! I actually really like the more experimental more casual vibes of this video. While your cosplays and costumes are obviously amazing, they don't always feel that do-able. Videos like these are really inspiring and also simple enough to want to try yourself. I personally love the eyeball shirt without the fabric marker i’d really like to have a shirt that looks like that. The style is really great
To get the level of whitening and range of colors you want, try fabrics that are heathered colors on cotton/poly blends - 60/40 or 65/35 cotton to polyester. Dark and medium heather grey will lighten better than solid black which usually turns orange to pinkish at best.
You can use an iron to speed up the bleach action by laying a pressing cloth over the bleach design and pressing, Then either do another round of bleach painting, or soak in hydrogen peroxide and water for 10 minutes, rinse in clear water and line or machine dry to do more painting later.
Black dyed cotton is a challenge to get lighter than orangy pink/peach because of the dyes used to make the black.

when working with bleach i find it helpful to use a thick bleach rather than a runny one and a thinner brush than you think you need to counteract bleeding

I know this isn't for clothing, but I would love to see you making some stained glass pieces. And I'm talking the 'simple' ways, ones that aren't expensive and won't end up making you get cut up. I think they would be really cool also if you made them fit in with your whimsical room. I would love to see the designs you create.

I accidently washed my bathroom in my nightmare before christmas hoodie, and some bleach got on it. So months later when I forgot about it, I put it one and saw the effect BUT luckily because it was a nightmare before christmas hoodie it looked like it was part of the aesthetic thank god XD

I learned a lot. I've been meaning to do something with bleach art and this is exactly the type of information that will be useful. My favorite is the celestial skirt, such a cute design.
I love how the flame outfit finally worked out, it looks great, I think the eyeball shirt turned out better for adding the colour to the eyeballs on some of them, the thing with any paint pens is they need to be heat set, your heat gun should work as well as the iron.
The moth tee I just love it, it’s the cream of the crop for sure as well as the little mini you wore with it. Both of them turned out stunning.
I would love to see you do the painted items, I love the way you approach your ideas with the no idea it allows you the freedom to just got for it come hell or high water.

Haven't finished the video yet, but I'm loving your designs and I think they look awesome! Ive found using a bleach based clinging toilet cleaner to be a better medium to "paint" with, it's less viscous and doesn't bleed as much. Way more control :)
Omg the designs turned very cool and I wish I had half the chaotic energy to go and start doing designs on my clothes. You also weren’t wrong that sun does bleach stuff but it happens mainly over longer period (like you can see the bleaching happening on a dark hat you wore a lot during summer).

Quick tip: If you find yourself working with real wool (or real silk; expensive, but thrift stores have wild finds sometimes), do not use bleach. Wool and silk are protein fibres and bleach will dissolve them, as seen in the 'bleach test' for fibre identification.
