She conveys her life to all of us with pain, love.sensuality, irony, anger sweetness and forgiveness . We must say thank you to Beth for these precious gifts she gives us every time she sings.Love from Roma.Italy.
Why this woman is not a big star in her homeland USA I shall never understand. Her voice, her songwriting, her lyrics, her live performance ... what's not to like?
Lars Pallesen you are right - she has an incredible voice. wow. but also this song is not from her. she sings very often covers from well known songs or old blues songs. i think, thats the problem. if she also would write all her songs, i think she would be a star in the US and outside of the US.
Lars Pallesen She is. Just because she's not a pop singer doesn't mean she isn't a star. Take a look at her musical history before making a judgement like that.
Lars Pallesen There's nothing not to like in my opinion! She's a great performer and has been honored at events like the Kennedy Center Honors gala with the President and First Lady in attendance. They gave her a standing ovation. I like that about 1/2 of her songs are written by her and others are blues, jazz, or popular standards. She can sing anything! Many of us in the USA love her and are huge fans.
I heard " Ill leave the light on " the other day. I wish there was a way to tell her how grateful and impressed I am at her authenticity. I could have written that song and I hear so much hope in it. Kudos to you Beth...I hope somehow you see this and know you are a blessing
Beth went through many trials and tribulations in her life - love seeing her in her prime. She has apparently found out how to be happy with herself in the last few years. God Bless the Child who has had the dirty face.
When Amy Winehouse passed away I thought I would never find someone as talented and brutally honest as her, but then I discovered Beth Hart, thank God. I love you, Beth ... play on! I'll always leave the light on for you just in case you come knocking at my door ...

I discovered Beth by accident while searching for something on UA-cam. She blew me away and shortly thereafter I took at 17 hour drive from Idaho to CA and spent the entire time listening to every song of hers I could find to download to my ipod. Absolutely amazing voice and personality. Should be the biggest female star in the USA. This song is my favorite but then again, every one I listen to becomes my favorite at that moment. I plan on finding her tour schedule and finding a way to see her perform in person. WOW!!!
Saw her recently and I am in awe of the raw emotion she can wrap in lyrics and arrangements that cut right through you. I have seen many artists over the past 50+ years, but nothing I've ever seen live has touched me in so many ways as the two hours she played and sang in Nashville. She is a remarkable artist and human being!
I've listened to her music for decades, I don't understand why she's not more famous. She has passion, Talent, such a beautiful gift and overcome a lot in her life. Really glad she's still out there singing her soul out. Her music is raw, emotional just amazing.
Because Americans handle the truth that broken people can have a life. They can't handle the rest of the world doesn't believe the fairytales told by American media, a bible isn't everything.
Here I sit at 69 yrs. old, screaming and crying along with this song. Crying for my childhood and that of my son's addiction. Woman, you are the real deal. Your life is so vital and honest that it drives your divine voice. May you find your way always. Thank you for
Every time UA-cam tries to introduce some other blues to me, I just don't get a witness! NOTHING compares to the Queen of Blues; Beth Hart! It doesn't get any better than our Beth; she opens her mouth and starts belting it out, OMG! She's as good as it gets, there's no doubt in my mind!!!
Suzanne Ross beth's also a handy guitarist. she's my favourite living female vocalist. i think she's got more passion, emotion, soul and expression than pop singers like beyonce and adele, etc.

Beth opened with this in Auckland last night. Glad it was dark, because I cried when she sang this. I have been an avid follower of hers for many years and was elated when she was finally coming here to perform, but I couldn't get any tickets - all sold out within minutes. And then, a few hours before the concert, I won two tickets off her Facebook page. What a fantastic concert. I have seen Pink Floyd, The Who, Dire Straits, ELO, lots more - all pretty good. I have watched Barry McGuire booed off stage, I have walked out of a crap concert by Bob Dylan, I have seen a concert by Lou Reed called off because he was fucked out on drugs. I thought that Joan Armatrading had the best indoor concert that I had ever been to, until now. Beths was the best of all of the concerts I have ever been to bar none. Brilliant brilliant brilliant. If you get the chance to see her, don't hesitate, just go
@monrad1971: I haven't seen her live, but I've seen a lot of concert footage on video. I believe you when you say she's the best you've ever seen. She is a tortured soul and lucky to be alive; she's brutally honest about it but keeps reaching for the light. She has said that she loves performing live. It's a kind of therapy for her. This song and Skin have brought tears to my eyes. When she sings these songs, her soul cries out. We're seeing the making of a legend, and if I ever get a chance to see her, I'll go, even if I have to go by myself. I know that she was musically wonderful at the show you attended, but did she say something to the audience that moved you?
Irina Hristeva: I got my chance. I saw Beth this past weekend in Lake Tahoe, California. It was an unforgettable and incredible night for everyone in the audience. As these others have said, if you get a chance to see her, don't miss it!
I've been listening to Beth Hart for twenty plus year's and nobody is ever close to her realness and emotion. Have you both lived to Leaving LA? Amazing song with such intensity. Beth Hart used to be in the band 4 Non Blonde's back in the day with Linda Perry. You can find them on here but glad she branched out on her own. Best voice in the world 👍

Thanks Beth for writing this.....as a victim of abuse, it's soooo hard to let go of the bitterness and believe that it's not my fault. I've been carrying this for a very long time, and every little bit that takes away the pain, like this song, is a little blessing.
Tim Barrett I relate to you and I know how deep the pain is; its down in the depths of your soul....and it surfaces in strange ways, and you wonder, if you'll ever be anything but broken inside! I went on to hurt myself, on & on, never knowing why or how to be able to love myself, even for a few mins! I guess we're a work in progress and since God has saved our lives many times over, He'll heal our brokenness, it just takes time and believing that He'll finish the work He started in us cuz I know that I know; God really DOES love His own, and He takes care of His own! And before our lives are through, He will save our souls, and the souls of our loved ones!🕊
This isn't just music. It's a deeply spiritual experience. Every time I hear Beth sing this song and the song Skin, it's like her soul is crying out. The emotions are so overwhelming that it doesn't feel like a performance. It feels so real. This is pure genius, and like other people it brings tears to my eyes. God bless you, Beth! I'm so overjoyed that you're still with us!!
She makes me cry for all those innocent young girls who were ever abused. Maybe Beth never was but her singing brings relevance to all who were. What a beautiful song and voice! She sings well with Joe Bonamassa!
I've listened to this song like a thousand times for at least a year and it touches my soul every time. She really feels the song and that's what I love so much.
Jesse lee one of the best of hers and the current new legion of party girl singers. I d like Kate and her taylor and her or even Mariah or any other weak vocal siren. I would and do believe carrie underwood or possibly a few of the African American sirens could hold vocal capacity but I m not sure they could bring as much real hart passion to it.
This is one of the most beautifull songs i have ever heard, but also one of the saddest. Cause stuff like this, what she sings about, happens in real life. But is stays such a great song.
I have had the luck to see her two times in Copenhagen, and both concerts were truly amazing! Her voice! Her personality! Her soul in the songs! It still give me shiver down my spine. I love her and her voice!
Omg was she in Copenhagen ? why didnt I catch that...god I love her..her songs, her voice is just out of this world..this number brings tears to my eyes.

Dear Beth, you're my biggest idol and now you sing rock and blues I go into a "trance", I'm 62 and man who liked rock and blues and soul music since I was a little boy. Hope to hear much more from you :)
I stumbled here from playing some of her and Joe Bonamassa's songs. Wow genuine, honest and heartfelt song. Someone peel me off the rafters. Her voice put me up there somewhere between the 3:30 and 4:00 mark and I am afraid to let go. Never mind ... I do not want to come down ... I Am in a good place. Damn now that is passion.
Can't get enough of this song or Ms. Beth! Dear LORD, what a talent. She doesn't hold back, does she? LOVE her lyrics, her playing, her unique voice and style. Love her. Period.
I wandered into a store in Buford and overheard Melody Gardot, playing. I came home and looked her up, and came across a youtube video called women of jazz.. and Beth Hart. i have been hooked ever since, have listened to her for three days now. her live at paradiso performance of " am I the one?" is the best performance i have ever seen. such control over her voice and her mastery of instruments is amazing.
Beth hart is the Queen!!! Beth is the best singer/songwriter out there, Beth doesn't need costumes and distractions, pure talent, best wishes Beth to you and Scotty :-)
She's a woman. The kind of woman we men, if we're lucky, rely on to heal our wounds when the world beats us up. The woman who drives us crazy 'cause you know every other man be tellin' you, " you know, you a lucky man.." I had a family dentist say that to me once. I said, "it's bad enough you want go in my mouth and hurt me, now you tryin a say you wanna do the wild thing with my wife..." We don't see him anymore. But yea man, this is a woman in full...is it any wonder she makes the biggest and baddest of us cry??
Omg, This song touches my heart in so many ways.Beth Hart has a sound like Janis Joplin. Deep emotions from the heart. What a voice that I will listen to forever...
Just saw Beth Hart on WLIW21 TV New York. Never hard of her before but damn she touch my heart and soul. Old school damn music. Brother man on the drums rocked also
from the moment she opened her mouth and the words came out, I was hooked... why I never heard of her before I don't know... the raw, ruggedness in her voice and passion and conviction she sings with pulls at my very core.... I'd love to see her play live but I think I'd be a hot mess from the pure emotions I would be feeling
IMO the best female artist around. Great on record but simply untouchable when live. Cant wait for Coventry Cathedral in November. She might have to watch her language!!
OMG.. this song makes me think of my past. I love you Beth Hart.. I hope you had none of that pain in your life but if you did please know that there were other and we are here for you and all . I can't stop crying every time I hear this song.. I hate the man who hurt me .( Not a man).. but this song makes me wonder. Can I heal? Can I get over it? Yes I can!!!!.
Beth, I just discovered you 2 days ago, and you have absolutely blown me away. Not only are your vocals raw, and unapologetic, your lyrics put other Artists to shame. I f there's something I have a passion for, it's music, and the lyrics. This song, in particular, has resonated with me, as I was raped, beaten, sodomized, stabbed, and left for dead. Music, and writing, and singing, were the only therapy I could dive into that helped me. My husband was murdered 8/6/13, and I tried to kill myself, several times, only to awaken and be mad as hell I was still alive. Watching you give everything you have to the crowd, just resonates deep within my spirit, as noting else can. God is surely using you, as a blessing for us who have been in that dark place, and it's why we leave the light on too. Thank you so much for what you do to make the broken hearted feel so much better. If I could meet anybody in this world, Beth, I would choose you. And your band is solid gold too!!! Much respect, and love, KellyJ.
I hope you find the comfort and healing you need. I'm so sorry you have had so much pain in your life. God has put you here to help others with their pain I think. Hopefully you will be able to help others when you're ready. God bless and good luck

The emotions are so overwhelming that it doesn't feel like a performance. It feels so real. This is pure genius, and like other people it brings tears to my eyes. God bless you, Beth! I'm so overjoyed that you're still with us!!
I still leave the light on. Amazing woman, amazing voice.
This has cut me to the core for nearly 15 yrs now. The best recovery song I've ever heard. Thanks, Beth, for this and the party at Bimbos!
Absolutely beautiful! This is what we call 'music."
Fantastic...the world is richer for performers like this..pure beauty..
Holy crap! What a song. I was actually looking for another song and came across this. Beth Hart ... you are fucken epic!
This song still gets me
Loved how you can feel her life story when she sings this song... Heart & soul in it!!
What a beautiful unique voice- that rare quiver/bubble is truly a gift from the Most High🕊️❤🕊️❤🕊️
Wow I'm in tears.....she is something else isn't she
Jesse lee one of the best of hers and the current new legion of party girl singers. I d like Kate and her taylor and her or even Mariah or any other weak vocal siren. I would and do believe carrie underwood or possibly a few of the African American sirens could hold vocal capacity but I m not sure they could bring as much real hart passion to it.
Yeah the best
This is one of the most beautifull songs i have ever heard, but also one of the saddest. Cause stuff like this, what she sings about, happens in real life.
But is stays such a great song.
I am 64 from uk this has just blown me away you go girl can't stop playing what a talent come to England I will be first in the queue
I don't know how I missed her long these years. She is the shit.
There are no words - except for yours Beth. Absolutely beautiful and heartfelt. So glad you survived beautiful xxx
OMG ...with tears in my eyes i am typing this i never hear of this woman before but wow .....i am glad i randomly stumbled across this .....powerful, the artistry, the lyrics, the passion ......one word wow ....the true meaning of soul music
une vraie reine du blues qui nous fait vibrer " à mort" ! et aussi quel texte ...merci Beth Hart
Tears. I can sing the same song. The same lyrics. The sentiment of this song sculped my life. The damage has never been undone. I never will forget.
She's playing in Bath UK in November. What a treat. People should be falling over themselves for tickets. Best voice bar none. Hits the spot every time.
You dont hear music that touches your soul like this no more.
You do!! You just heard it,...................Mainstream is false talent.............nowadays we have to find the quality......... And Beth hart is exactly that!!!!!
exactly (:
And on the 7th day God created Neil Young.
OMG why haven't I ever heard this treasure before?! I am in love

My idea of the perfect female voice. I could listen to Beth Hart all day long!
Tot in het diepst van mijn ziel..... Touches me till the deepest of my soul.... Tears. She could have written this for me. I could have writen this. Its my young life.
Prachtig
that's what makes music the universal language. Everybody can relate to something there. Maybe we should sing more and talk less ;-)
Just RAW! Beautiful soulful song! You definitely left it all out there!
Wow... this song left me teary! Been a very long time since I heard a voice so powerful

Beth has a phenomenal voice. I love this song! Thank you for all your beautiful work, lady!
this song ,and this woman are proof that emotion has gravity.we get close to this and we are pulled in.
Can't get enough of this song or Ms. Beth! Dear LORD, what a talent. She doesn't hold back, does she? LOVE her lyrics, her playing, her unique voice and style. Love her. Period.
For this words and melody, you should have a place in heaven
shes incredible.how have i lived so long without knowing her...hearing her...
One of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung. Thank you Beth! ❤❤❤❤💜
Come on... this is out of this world... I have no words...
Fuck how good was that . Beth hart unbelievable .

Thanks Noo H
Thank you Bloom6364
She's a woman. The kind of woman we men, if we're lucky, rely on to heal our wounds when the world beats us up. The woman who drives us crazy 'cause you know every other man be tellin' you, " you know, you a lucky man.." I had a family dentist say that to me once. I said, "it's bad enough you want go in my mouth and hurt me, now you tryin a say you wanna do the wild thing with my wife..." We don't see him anymore. But yea man, this is a woman in full...is it any wonder she makes the biggest and baddest of us cry??
one of the best original song I have heard in a long time.
I'm absolutely fuckin blown away. I hope she keeps her shit together for a long time. Love you X
This is one of the best songs i've heard in a really long time. So touching and heart felt. Amazing!
Lovely Beth!
A real song in so many ways, I know it's about her so I'm happy to that girl now can finally turn out the light.
Omg, This song touches my heart in so many ways.Beth Hart has a sound like Janis Joplin. Deep emotions from the heart. What a voice that I will listen to forever...
Hush and stop stalking my comment. I will say what I want to. Get over it....
Holy smoke ...... i get lost in this.....music you feel as much as you hear.
Just saw Beth Hart on WLIW21 TV New York. Never hard of her before but damn she touch my heart and soul. Old school damn music. Brother man on the drums rocked also
Ah!!!!mazing!!!!!!!!! Five full stars! I feel her voice vibrating inside me! Soo authentic......
from the moment she opened her mouth and the words came out, I was hooked... why I never heard of her before I don't know... the raw, ruggedness in her voice and passion and conviction she sings with pulls at my very core.... I'd love to see her play live but I think I'd be a hot mess from the pure emotions I would be feeling
She is truly incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the video that introduced me to Beth Hart's talent.
IMO the best female artist around. Great on record but simply untouchable when live. Cant wait for Coventry Cathedral in November. She might have to watch her language!!
She is unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love her. My favorite female singer of all time !!!
Michael Ladd
Actually I find her to be the most real...genuine singer-songwriter of our time.
I do understand your point though.
know i like this singer one of the best ever. Sorry if i confused you !!
Brilliant singersongwriter!
Mine also. Words cannot express how talented she is ❤
OMG.. this song makes me think of my past. Yes I can!!!!.
one of the most outstanding singers, musicians and composers we have ever had the fortune to enjoy. i absolutely adore her.
Beth is a great talent that will shine longer than the life of our sun..
Wow, cut me to the core. Beth you are a true talent and what a story.
Such a powerful vocal. Man, she gets me every time!
I can hear this song 10 times a day. can't wait to see Beth Hart!
Kelly Aylor-Jarrell Just read your post. Heavy stuff...Music truly does save the soul...one of the only true sources of magic in this world. Walk tall, walk straight, and go into the world with a healing soul. all the best.
