If I met a 21 year old somewhere and he said "I'm building a car in my garage in an attempt to beat a Ferrari's lap time." I'd wouldn't believe him, unless he then got into his daily driver DMC-12 held together with duck tape and drove off. Another great video from Johnny, I love how these videos feel like we've accidentally walked in on two car people talking about cars as if we weren't there.

Loved that video Johnny, one of my favourites you've done! Love Miles' quirky, single mindedness that others would label "weird". Any passion that burns that hot has to be admired, whatever it is. And he's clearly a great young lad, will check out his channel.
Loved that episode. It restored my faith in the youth of today, a bit. Nice one Miles. I wish I'd had a DeLorean as my first car, I made do with an MG Midget that I daily drove for 9 years.
Morning Jonny. Well this young man may be a future Gordon Murray. You can tell he's already way ahead of the game . If possibly slightly optimistic about the performance capabilities of his Mazda ! Very enjoyable and every car you feature you seem to fall for ! I do believe that John Delorean had many unfair accusations about his control in his company . I think there were all sorts of shannagins (is that a word?! ) in the politics and funding of the company. And there's no doubt that had it not been for the film trilogy the car would have remained dead and buried. As for the styling , the Delorean has aged well and still looks elegant. What a fabulous film! And what a great lad is Miles. Exactly the right amount of care about what matters and complete dismissal of the bits that don't. So hope you go back to see what becomes of the lightweight racer. Absolutely brilliant.
Johnny....Miles is someone you have to have on Speed Dial 📱 and keep us upto date on what progress he is making with the car build as well as the DMC. Stay Safe. 👍👍
What a fantastic story. Great to see a car that has been acquired by a real enthusiast and that is used as a rolling project, rather than as a museum piece or as part of a collection. Would love to go to that Delorean club meet just to see the cars and talk to the owners.
A true icon of a car. I think its kind of one of those things thats more than the sum of its parts. I'v only ever seen one of these once. It was at the seaside parked outside a reto 80's arcade. So cool. Non of the people I was with were even slightly petrol-heads so non of them could understand why I was so excited at seeing it. Great video. Miles seems a real cool guy, I think he's got a bit of that mad professor/genius vib about him, seems very apt him driving a DeLorean. You really should pay him another visit when he finishes his superlight sports car project.
If there are any car companies watching, get your hands on Miles before the competition does. Much respect Miles for your passion and dedication. Credit to the parents. And it goes without saying, thanks Johnny and mr cameraman, for this fantastic video.
One of the most enjoyable car episodes I’ve watched on UA-cam. It’s definitely one of the great car icons despite some of its history. The interaction of Johnny and Myles and the smiles this car brings out of them is so enjoyable
so rare for a car youtube channel to feature a rolling project like this. so much more interesting than the polish and shine show cars you see. Jonny and the team consistently knocking it out the park with the quality content... congrats on the quarter million subscribers too 🎉🎉🎉
That was bloody marvellous. Good on that guy. You're right though, it would make a fantastic EV. I think doc Brown would definitely approve. It would sound suitably futuristic and keep with the looks of the car brilliantly!
well, I drive mine since 5 Years too daily ... what´s special avout this? NOTHING. So why this overwhelming cheering about the fact that you can drive a Car daily?
More excellent content, as usual. Jonny is obviously a great presenter but can we just take a moment to acknowledge the brilliance of the filming and editing? I think it was the same duo who did the utterly magnificent Fully Charged Tokyo Motor Show videos a few years ago - the first stuff I saw on UA-cam that made me realise it could not only beat TV for special interest content but also match it for quality.
I love the Late brakes accepting attitude to imperfections! So many Mags and Video producers only bother sharing something thats mint and sitting in a garage for the last few years... How much more fun and realistic to see a gaffer taped classic being coaxed along as a daily!! Well done Johnny!
Cheers from #15575 across the pond in Texas! Picked up mine in July 2000 for 9500 USD when I was 17. Delivered pizza with it for 2 years, daily'ed for longer, still runs beautifully with almost zero restoration all the way here in 2021. This is one of the best DMC videos on UA-cam that's ever been made. Really. Well done.
Superb! Thank you to The Late Brake Show team and Miles for sharing this charming story. I loved the filming, the locations (Bristol's a wonderful place) and the always outstanding production quality. The script and sentiments are happily received and my own feelings about old cars had some good company with Johnny's and Miles' words. I've been into cars since I was an infant, I'd have everything if I could.... My sister; not interested in cars at all, unless it's a DeLorean. It's a car that affects people who aren't into cars, maybe because of the film, but surely also because it was distinctly different. I love that it transcends the car scene. The sound was lovely too, brilliantly recorded, it made me long for the experience of driving that car or just witnessing it go by.
Quite frankly, the best TLBS yet! What a fantastic chap & Mr Smith is the perfect person for the chat. Utterly brilliant, outstanding content from all involved, bravo 👏👏👏
The DeLorean is still such a good looking car. No matter how rubbish the car is, it'll always be cool to me. Miles is a great lad too and I hope you can revisit him Jonny when his other project is on the road / track
I used to work at the company that made the wiring harness for Deloreans, Lucas Rists in Newcastle Under Lyme. We had John visit our factory too and yes our company got burnt by his dealings too. Amazing concept of a car and well deserves its place in automotive history.
This. Was. Brilliant! The story alone is worth the watch, but the quality you’re getting into your productions now is outstanding, Jonny. Keep ‘em coming!
Good on him and I think we need a follow up on the ferrari killing home build at some point. At the first thought of an electric conversion is a small amount of sick in my mouth but if you owned a delorean an electric motor, given the film, seems allowable. Plus the opportunity to put a 'warning 121GW' sticker on your charging unit would kind of make up for it. Working in San Francisco (6/7 years ago?) And on route to a meeting ( after a heavy night) I looked out over the bay area to see a delorean speed boat conversion travelling at a fair rate. It was brilliant! Edit: Think it might have been a hover craft..
Such a good video Johnny!! Favourite show on UA-cam! Owning a DeLorean must be the coolest thing, imagine just going to Tesco’s in that it would be so fun. I would love to see a restomod of that car!

Top stuff once again Jonny and crew. Thanks for putting Miles youtube in the comments, though we did see it on the sticker. Subscribed and looking forward to his progress on the DMC and his budget race car. Near the end there you said goodbye as you turned it off, but surely it's just bye for now as we've gotta come back at some point. Cheers from Oz o/
Miles is 20, my youngest, James. Is 20 months. He saw this and now it's on repeat. I've tried to get him to look at some over vids here but no, not the Spyker, not the Beetle. The DMC 12.
Miles is clearly a very interesting character and what is great to see is someone relentlessly pursuing their passion. I was thinking about the new car I had in 1981 and whilst it is now mostly forgotten and turned into oxide it was quite a bit unusual at the time for a small family car as it was supposedly 'designed by computers and built by robots'. Have you guessed yet? Yes it was the Fiat Strada, bloody awful thing!
Excellent episode, I loved it. Miles appears to quite the natural in front of the camera with a natural flare that I’d certainly like to see a lot more of. As some one already said, with young ones like Miles, the automotive journalism world is going to be just fine. Well done all!!!
Absolutely loved the Back to the Future intro, Miles seemed a decent bloke, I hope you go back and feature his completed race car project. Another class film Jonny, brilliantly eclectic as usual.
The best and most interesting YT video I have seen in ages. Brilliant topic but the way you present it, the humor, the atmosphere, the camerawork, that is how you capture passion.
Great video Johnny, but please ease up on the ads, difficult to watch with all the interruptions. Miles is a very decent guy, respect for all his work and dedication.
Wow Johnny you've do it again. What a fantastic video. The location and the filming spot on. And what a polite And talented young lad. The Delorean is like the Rubik's cube both make no sense? But there icons of there age And still cool.
Growing up in So. California as kids, me and my brothers were always trying to make a proper working go cart. (even if it meant being pushed by my cousin..) We hopelessly wondered if one day that .5hp Briggs and Stratten lawnmower engine would find it's way into our hands..I drove a DeLorean back in the day and yeh, it was funky, but boy did it get looks!
That was even more epic than the last video. No not video, TLBS has progressed to making proper films. Dead set one of the few channels I really look forwards to every new instalment. This content genuinely makes me feel happier about the world.
Amazing how your UA-cam channel feels like a community Jonny. Different types of cars, different stories and budget but a lovely warm thread through them all. Half an hour flashed by. As for the Man-delorian...what a legend, already. The future is safe.
Really good episode Jonny with the usual high production values. Miles is an excellent young chap,we need more like him, unusual for a millenial. Would be nice to have follow ups on the De Lorean and the death trap with Miles.
What a fantastic young man. Great to see him getting on with a project. His welding skills are top notch as well. Hope you get his build featured when he's finished it.
Great video - Miles is still smiling and he still looks well chuffed with his pride & joy - The DeLorean ! Thanks for a great video and story - Miles is a great guy and all the very best of luck to him and his projects ! - Well done man ! 👍👍👍
Did I see this car on the m25 in January ish this year near Heathrow in the outside lane naturally ! In 40 years I have only seen 2 on the road one must have been approx 1989 and the other this year. It looked amazing in the half light . Great guy for running it every day .best of luck with it
Fantastic video, great to see a well used DeLorean. Greetings from #5124, also Oct 81, only a few hundred later than Miles' car. Great work young man, I hold my hat up to you.
Inspiring. Miles is brilliant. Flux Capacitor. EV converted DeLorean... ain’t much of a leap, is it? It seems natural to the spirit of how most know the car. ✌🏽🖤🚘
"Great Scott" What a great young Man! Great Video Jonny 👍 More of this please, owners with their passion for unusual Cars or Vans is simply a winner for me! 👍🙂👍
Living in NYC in 1982 these were for sale for $25K brand new! We were offered a trade for one against our 1972 (Series 2) Lambo Espada which I thought was way cooler (Gandini vs Giugiaro) and passed on that opportunity because I hated that 2.7-litre V6 Renault 30 engine after owning another forgotten Renault the 177 TS. Probably was a mistake because the timing chain jumped thereafter and a piston punched a hole in the de-tuned Miura V12 engine which cost us a fortune to fix!
This channel just gets better and better . Jonny's professional and enthuiastic presenting with amazing content and production. Good luck to Miles in the ( back to the ) future .
I was thinking the same thing! I wonder if they did a split-screen type thing and filmed each door separately then stitched the clips together afterwards?
There used to be another De Lorean owned by a guy just up the road from Bristol near Castle Combe race track. They’ve never really floated my boat but this looks way better for being a bit lower. Miles seems like a nice guy and the car suits him perfectly.
Good on the young man. Excellent video. Way back in 1981 aged17 and just days after passing my test in a Morris Marina I bought a 1971 Jaguar Xj6 4.2 as my first car... £450. My dad went nuts!
I had my reservations about this episode, thinking that a young delorean owner would be a rich pompaus, but he seems genuine and admirable for the work that he's put into a non-functioning car. Reminds me of myself when I was his age and bought a porche 924 at 17 that barely ran, not realizing that I was in way over my head, and didn't have the resources (at the time) to make it into a working vehicle. You can tell he's passionate about his love of the delorean and has worked hard to make it a daily driver, even with all the things that are broken on it.
I have never got the fascination with these cars but seeing a young guy so dedicated to running and maintaining one is awesome well done miles have 2 say johnny only been watching your show about 4 weeks and love it the variety is outstanding m8
This story, car and Miles are an inspiration to us all car nuts. The DeLorean has a unique character and appeal that will never be forgotten. The Porsche can’t hold a candle to the DeLorean. The fact that it is daily driven at 40 years old just says everything. He is the future of car obsession
Great episode, Miles is a great lad, the future of the automotive world is going to be just fine with young folk like Miles getting involved. Got a Furze vibe about him.
And Furze himself has a DeLorean

Easily THE best intro to any video on UA-cam... EVER!! Awesome stuff Jonny..!
The DMC 12.
And so it begins...
Love this!! We need to see more Miles!
Wonderful production. Great work guys. You're ahead of your time.
What a delightful young man, a fantastic episode and the best thing I’ve watched in yonks 👍👍
This is so awesome! Think I’ve smiled the whole way through this video Jonny. More of this please?
@Ross Bourne Not so sure about that, the creator has a say as far as I am aware
Apologies Andrew, YT defaults to putting loads of ads on there, but we have just cut them back.
@@TheLateBrakeShow Thanks for that, spoils otherwise great content.
@@andrewgurney6019 also pays for great content 👍
@@WildCamper Put them at the start, no issue with that, but constantly breaking in throughout kills the content.
The beginning was done SO well! Fabulous video! Keep up the great work.
Johnny.. your content keeps getting better and better.. to be honest I religiously shed a tear every episode. Thank you so much for everything you do
Great fun, excellent story of someone and their dream COME TRUE!!
Amazing car and a deserving owner who loves it, great episode.
Brilliant video yet again. Disappointed it ended. Was transfixed watching it and what a car. Timeless👍👍
That was even more epic than the last video. No not video, TLBS has progressed to making proper films.
Dead set one of the few channels I really look forwards to every new instalment. This content genuinely makes me feel happier about the world.
Brilliant intro, loved the ref to Mr. Fusion too... :) Awesome!
Jonny, This show is better than anything on TV in my opinion. The production is second to none. Please keep going and well done!
Fantastic production. Miles, an inspiration. Great work both.
Another superb video! Miles is such a legend, and so is his car.
What a car, what a legend of an owner. Great video with lots of views of my hometown 😎
Great video! Great background shots of Bristol and nice that the city didn't seem to be in flames at the time of filming
Great vid as usual and if Miles and his enthusiasm is the future of classic car ownership and modding its a going to be a great place to be.
This channel just gets better and better . Jonny's professional and enthuiastic presenting with amazing content and production. Good luck to Miles in the ( back to the ) future .
Best UA-cam intro ever!
Love the opening scene on the garage. Class work. Johnny I need you to know that the Late Brake show is bloody brilliant sir.
The production and editing value in this video is epic. How did you get the doors to open at the same time without someone being visible in the car?
I was thinking the same thing! I wonder if they did a split-screen type thing and filmed each door separately then stitched the clips together afterwards?
i can open mine at the same time via Remote Control Bluetooth Module - noting Magic about it. Engineered by myself, nothing to buy.
You wouldn't be able to afford the insurance on a hubcap from a jag at seventeen today ......!
@@andymccabe6712 Very true, can't remember it being a problem back then though.
Miles is a cool brother. Keep it up dude! Cool stuff all the way!
What a nice lad and a very intelligent one at that, good luck to him, cheers as always Mr Smith 👍🏻
