The second suites only eatery and the fully enclosed hybrid aqua theatre and cafetwo270 are favourite parts! Also, several of those slides look like they'd be lots of fun!
Plus, with the centralized family area splash zone at the back of the ship, I don't think it will feel like there are too many kids around if you sail in off-season.

This looks very exciting, and especially glad it seems to have more room options for families/larger groups. As a family of 5, always feel a bit limited in the room options for us
Never been on a cruise, but always considered it. My only concern is that it might just be too many people for me. I feel like anything you wanted to do there would be a big line and a big wait.
Just got off Quantum, and yeah there are lots of people. I was very socially drained by the end of it. However, I would say it’s not always a bad thing. We never really had long wait times for anything except the guest services desk. It is a lot of money to be surrounded by lots of people, but there is so much room that you probably won’t feel uncomfortable.
This is disneyland on water for families..i thought wonder of the sea was Awsome with all the RC oasis style ship, thinking nothing could top that!... and here we are again With the ICON!.....just blows my mind what their able to fit on a ship!!!! 😮😍😍👏
I’m definitely a fun and risk taking and young at heart, person but this ship is overwhelming. I would definitely go down the water slides but personally I could not put up with the noise and just relax which I’m sure there are some areas to relax and be among adults. The colors are beautiful but too extreme the state rooms are very welcoming and beautiful. I don’t think I would sail on this but that’s me. I think the video deserves a hands down as excellent. Thank you, I almost had feeling I was onboard.
Initial thoughts after watching this: As a mainly solo cruiser and definitely not someone who cruises with a family, I definitely prefer the Oasis class still. The Aquadome is by far my favorite addition and reminds me of the Crown Jewel in the Singapore Airport. The staterooms also seem like a pretty big upgrade. Everything else doesn’t seem that cool to me. I think i’d rather have the solarium and I will take the boardwalk over surfside any day of the week. Overall I wish they would’ve done something totally different rather than just add a few things here and there to what would otherwise be an Oasis class ship
Nice summary! As a solo cruiser too, I have come to realize that solo cruisers will never be a priority to cruise lines. The few attempts that have been made are pretty bad. However, I find this ship type to be really interesting. The Windjammer looks like its much bigger (also better for solo cruisers), The MDR looks smaller, good, better to expand other free dining options. The "Surfside" looks like it could take a load of the main pool area. That is always a welcome thing. The lounge area of the Aquadome looks really great. Cloud 17 looks great, but way to small. Similary The Hideaway" looks fantastic, but I worried about overcrowding. What I would have like to see more of, not just in the Suite area, is more outdoor lounging. A deckchair/poolbed is not comfy at all. The quantum class got an even better Solarium than the Oasis. The trippel level lounge-pool is epic! I am looking forward to see what this ship looks like in the night-time. Definitely booking a ticket a month or two after the start.
Something right out of the future but... My major dislikes are Central Park. Sterile comes to mind and those green ladders! They just don't fit the decor and are view blockers for the rooms. The entire ship looks like an 'Out Do Disney', theme. The water park is nice but it just overflows the ship with all those tubes. Don't get me wrong, the ship looks amazing! I look forward to seeing the less expensive cabins, restaurants, and clubs.
Not a fan of the first swim up bar at sea? And infinity pools and largest pool at sea? Everything seems a lot more intuitive like they took Oasis class flaws and completely revamped the design around that. They still have more features to announce too those as just the initial high level announcement. At least can we agree it's WAY better than the Quantum class? 😆
As a mostly solo crusier myself I wouldn't say that this ship isn't designed for solo crusier because not many ships are. I will say that this ship is not marketed towards adults without kids. Going by what we know, not only will feel kinda out of place as a solo crusier but what activities would a young couple in the early 30s be c about to enjoy if they don't have kids. I wouldn't rather something similar to the boardwalk over the kids area but I understand. Overall I'm excited and I will be on the first sailing regardless of if I'm single, sold , married or whatever lol. I can't wait.
@@joshuag1488 I agree with you somewhat, but being divorced and without kids I thought I might feel the same way. But it will kind of be like going to Disney World...still FUN! If I wanted stuffy, I would go to Celebrity. LOVE the vibe of this ship and even though it's meant for kids and families, I will definitely be sailing on her. I think there are enough adult areas for me to enjoy with or without kids in tow!
This cruise ship is like crazy is so massive but at the same time it looks so cool this is one cruise ship that will be on my bucket list to go on. It looks amazing. I’m so excited.
That infinity pool is gorgeous along with the panoramic ocean view windows ! I'm so excited But I don't see a huge movie screen and how many restaurants there are going to be. Definitely awaiting more info.
Very cool mega ship! Personally I like the older smaller ones myself. But that’s just me in a sea of millions of people. I get that the market has to grow so we all can flourish and continue to enjoy the class of ship we each like. Hopefully they also understand that and do not end up ditching the small classes of ships. Mega ships are awesome but they have there down falls just like a vision or freedom class ship does.
@@avv1435Royal isn’t ditching the smaller ships anytime soon but don’t wait to sail on them. As a cancer survivor and heart attack survivor, I’m here to tell you that none of us are guaranteed another day!
This looks super exciting I can't wait to sail on this ship looks super fun.when I say the tubes on the water slides I was more eager to go down it,looks really fun.🤗
I like Icloud 17 to relax with my husband and Surfside to be with my niece and the family. She is 2 now and when I had her I did not have to be standing just watching her. Love it!!!
Looks amazing, love the color scheme theme throughout the entire ship and staterooms, can't wait to see further details on the cabin staterooms and bathrooms etc :) the activities and amenities look really cool and creative 😀
i’m amazed by how elevated and innovative this boat is, it’s almost unreal! but with this big of a boat and having so much too offer on it, who would want to go off? as amazing it is, i’d imagine you’d forget that you have to get off the boat to go to the actual destination(s)… and you’re only on the boat for such a short period of time. i don’t know, the boat is impressive but it almost seems a little overkill in a way. wish i could explain that better
Well, isn't this what *cruising* really, actually, is?!?! It is to enjoy *primarily* the ship and the sea, right? I mean, if I want to explore the land part of the Earth, I would choose a different form of vacationing or traveling ... such as flying/bussing/railing/driving to the land destination and then stay on land and explore.
This truly is a beautiful ship. Royal is definitely making the cruise ship the destination…. However, I’d like to see Royal make a new smaller size ship. As a person who sails frequently from Baltimore, these types of ships can’t sail under the bay bridge. It would be so wonderful for Royal to make a new concept smaller ship for the people like me who prefer the smaller ship experience and who sail from smaller ports….
Wow, I just recently got off harmony with my 2 younger children and my teen and everything I wanted in harmony is on this ship. Can't wait to book for this ship.
Very interesting discussion of this new ship! I like how colorful it is and the designs of the neighbor hoods! I myself at one point wanted to go on the big ships but, since Covid I am not interested! It seems it too much about the ship and not of the ports! I mean I want equal interest/ desire in both port and ship! The amount of people on this cruise is too much, I feel like a lot of areas will be too crowded, no thank you! 😂😖
This ship looks amazing. Not sure why some people are not happy about it. Im not no ship snob and know what to appreciate. We can not afford ships like this or to even fly to east coast. If we could this would be the first ship we would book. We are in our 50s and have a 12 old and 19 year old that are dying to go on this.
We nicknamed the Edge Class from Celebrity as Boo Boo, the NCL Prima as Moo Moo, and now the Icon as Baby Girl! She is absolutely spectacular and can’t wait to hear more about her and sail on her! Still waiting for any cruise to out the first fondue restaurant at sea!
Its nice, but looks more like Oasis class 2.0 than a different ship design. Would have liked to see I fly and some new restaurant venues. Overall mixed feelings about it.
That’s my biggest issue with RC right now. We always go with the unlimited dining package as the MDR is so lackluster. The WJ is awful and people behave like cattle most times.
I guess I’m the target audience with young kiddos but I’m excited that there are more kid friendly spaces…that will definitely make other areas more adult friendly. Cruisers without kids probably never realized how little was truely kid friendly which definitely makes it hard to enjoy as a parent. Guess I’ll have to fly to Florida to check it out! (Typically drive to the NY, NJ, MD ports for convenience)
Please use the included kids clubs so kids will stay entertained and you will get some adult time alone. We childfree people love it when parents parent their kids and either keep them busy on board or leave them home. Adults need time away from kid chaos too.
I totally agree with you. If and when I have the opportunity to be on that ship, I won't care about any offshore excursions. You have everything you need on that ship for a great family vacation.
I’m kinda bummed out because there are some obvious advances in technology and ship design at work here, general improvements over Oasis Class that I would enjoy, but it is clear to me from watching this video that this ship is only going to be enjoyed by families with children. Too much of this ship is not meant for adults. I mean, for those of you with families I am happy for you, your ship has definitely come in, but I think I’m going to be sticking to Oasis class for now.
In 20 years of new ship designs this was the first Royal ship to annoy me. The upper deck is too busy and they've aimed it too much at families while it appears they sort of forgot people without them, even though our market segment is the one increasing. The pool slides are just too numerous, and I don't like the idea of the whole boardwalk area turned into a kids deck. I suppose it's best to have an area to contain them, but still. The perl seems fine, although I wish Royal would still adopt an area like the Prima's sea side area (the small walkway along the outside of the ship just for the bars and restaurants). This just looks like the sort of ship we're they're will be few quiet areas to get away from the crowds on, something I complained about on the Quantum ships. Its also clearly optimized to upcharge people, and I hate that. Also not happy they are dropping the cruise over from Europe, but I will chop that up to both time of year (winter on the North Atlantic is notorious for storms) and operational reasons, and probably the right call on their part.
My wife and I went on Holland America during our honeymoon 16 years ago. The lack of kids was great, but now that we have kids of our own, RCI is a better fit. I imagine we'll go back to HAL when we're empty nesters for the same reason you mentioned about this ship.
Maybe one of their next ships can have a lot more adult only areas and big bring the venues into bigger spaces. I will wait and see what utopia has coming but at least I know what I can book for now for other cruises

Oh wow, Matt! She looks incredible!
I agree. We don’t like these big ships. They are too big, too loud, too many kids, not our way of vacation
I fear Royal Caribbean will be ditching the smaller ships. If so, my days on a Royal Caribbean ship will come to an end.
Celebrity is Royal’s line of smaller ships and is geared more toward adults. I took my first cruise with them this year and it was fantastic
@@avv1435Royal isn’t ditching the smaller ships anytime soon but don’t wait to sail on them. As a cancer survivor and heart attack survivor, I’m here to tell you that none of us are guaranteed another day!
Icon Looks amazing, I can't wait I pray I'm able to book a cruise on her the colors on her are Beautiful everything is beautiful 🛳️🛳️
I really appreciate RC putting more emphasis on outside decks to lounge and enjoy the view.
Us too!
This looks super exciting I can't wait to sail on this ship looks super fun.when I say the tubes on the water slides I was more eager to go down it,looks really fun.🤗
As a traveler on the older side who no longer travels with his adult children I’m dismayed by the loss of The Solarium.
theres still an all adults pool area
wow this ship looks great. Definitely going to have to book in the future
Don't have vertigo or fear of water or hights when going on this ship. It's a beautiful, entertaining ship. 🚢
I’m looking forward to those infinity pools!! I’m excited about this ship:)
i’m amazed by how elevated and innovative this boat is, it’s almost unreal! but with this big of a boat and having so much too offer on it, who would want to go off? as amazing it is, i’d imagine you’d forget that you have to get off the boat to go to the actual destination(s)… and you’re only on the boat for such a short period of time. i don’t know, the boat is impressive but it almost seems a little overkill in a way. wish i could explain that better
I'm going on this ship with my family on June 2024. First time on Royal Caribbean. We booked a balcony facing Central Park. Can't wait.
I'd gladly do interior on a ship like this; this is incredible
Whoa very colorful ship! Thank you for share this with us about that newest cruise
Looking forward to going on this beautiful cruise in November 2024.
This is incredible!!! I had high expectations and they surpassed them in every way. Can’t wait to sail on Icon. Wow
Wow, I just recently got off harmony with my 2 younger children and my teen and everything I wanted in harmony is on this ship. Can't wait to book for this ship.
Icon will apparently be the first passenger ship to surpass 250,000 gross tons.
last time i read, it was supposed to be below 220,000GT but above 200,000GT
@@daviotw To put that number into perspective, Wonder of the Seas comes in at 236,857 gross tons.
I went with my daughter on wonders of the sea for their first run and I thought it was huge and icon of the sea is larger wow wow amazing.
I’ve sailed Oasis, Allure and Symphony of the seas. I CANT WAIT to get on this one. I’m recruiting lots of family and friends for this one
Hopefully someday you will!
Thank you so much for your video, so beautiful and amazing 😍🤩🤩🤩👍
We nicknamed the Edge Class from Celebrity as Boo Boo, the NCL Prima as Moo Moo, and now the Icon as Baby Girl!
She is absolutely spectacular and can’t wait to hear more about her and sail on her!
Still waiting for any cruise to out the first fondue restaurant at sea!
The nicknames you give the ships made me laugh. Made my day, man. 😊
Wow. Just wow.
I have never been intrigued about cruising. Until now.
Its nice, but looks more like Oasis class 2.0 than a different ship design. Would have liked to see I fly and some new restaurant venues. Overall mixed feelings about it.
Freedom class was pretty much voyager 2.0 but icon looks a lot different
Also let us floridians get some bigger ships
She looks a lot different but there's alot of features that remind you of oasis class ships
@@hausefo3621 its called inspiration
ive rewatched this 7 times
Great video! I like the family boardwalk areas cabins. It would be hard to decided on which cabin to book. I hope they improve on the food 😊
That’s my biggest issue with RC right now.
We always go with the unlimited dining package as the MDR is so lackluster. The WJ is awful and people behave like cattle most times.
@@metalmilitia89 the WJ is a zoo! I take my daughter because she likes it and then she goes to kids club while the adults go dine elsewhere
Yea this gon be our next whole family trip
I am very excited to see what the surf side suites are like because I have 2 kids and they would enjoy that room.
I love this ship! Why would we ever want to leave it on an excursion? In fact, it seams like Cocoa Cay Chill Island is now incorporated onto the ship!
I totally agree with you. If and when I have the opportunity to be on that ship, I won't care about any offshore excursions. You have everything you need on that ship for a great family vacation.
It is! And is no extra charge on the ship, while it is for the water park at Coco Cay.
Waiting.... this makes me happy.
I’m sailing on her in October! Will be my first RCL cruise! Staying in the Surfside neighborhood! Can’t wait!
Also not happy they are dropping the cruise over from Europe, but I will chop that up to both time of year (winter on the North Atlantic is notorious for storms) and operational reasons, and probably the right call on their part.
wow this is amazing. RC is so ahead of the competition
I wouldn’t trust anything built after like 2019. Be it a ship or a washing machine or a nose hair trimmer. Cheap ass shit these days.
That’s some deep thinking
I'm booked with an interior central park view and that's good enough for me. It's not cheap!
As an empty nester, there doesn’t seems to be a lot of places to go without running into a ton of kids. I am a little disappointed.
Take the grandkids
My wife and I went on Holland America during our honeymoon 16 years ago. The lack of kids was great, but now that we have kids of our own, RCI is a better fit. I imagine we'll go back to HAL when we're empty nesters for the same reason you mentioned about this ship.
Have some children
It's aimed at families with children
This is why Royal will always be my favorite!
The ship looks way too busy, like they just took every idea they had and just tried to cram it into a space not much larger than an Oasis ship.
Maybe one of their next ships can have a lot more adult only areas and big bring the venues into bigger spaces. I will wait and see what utopia has coming but at least I know what I can book for now for other cruises
Massive ship will be beautiful once is done massive game changer
That suspended infinity pool in The Hideaway is what has me the most excited. RC well done!!!
I’m going here with my family (if 5) in June! We booked a place in Central Park, tickets for shows, etc.
