My dad's moving back, after most of his life in uk. He has know built his house on monkey Hill. Looking forward to visiting 😀 As I haven't been to his homeland yet.
i went to medical school there in 2010. its a different way of life but you do not feel so much like your life is being wasted. you get to just enjoy the little things. less distractions. since i lived there for 2 years i lived a true island life. if you go for vacation you are spending money on things and dont get a true feel. going to the grocery stores, riding the taxis are all lost when you rent a car and have stacks of money in your pocket.
SKB has really changed since my days there from 2000-2008. In my day, Hyatt Park was literally just a sketch drawing and Turtle Beach was a great restaurant and bar and about the only p[lace you could go on the peninsula. Shiggidy Shack was the local hang out along with Shipwreck. Cockleshell was just a nice beach with a single little 'rum shack'. Black Rocks was just a place to pull over and see the lava rocks. The primary reason I moved there was that it had barely been bitten by tourism. Those days are long gone! Listening to your pronunciation of places was worth the price of admission for me. It's great to see SKB through the eyes of first time visitors. As always, thanks for sharing your adventure!
Oh man I can only imagine! It's always a bit of a bummer when natural spots are monetized like Black Rocks but I get it, a way to generate income for locals and help the economy. Seems like these days if you want untouched places you need to go very very cold haha.
@@MathersOnTheMap Yes, selling sun is big business and most countries that have it need the business, bad. SKB had suffered two bad hurricanes in short succession just before I landed there which is why their tourism was still not developed.
I am so happy you got to experience true St. Kitts by driving around the island... driving there makes you feel every emotion (beautiful landscapes, funny moments, confusion, being scared for your life at least once every time you sit behind the wheel, and much more! 😆) I loved my time living in SKN!
when we went yrs ago, we did the entire island on scooters stopping many times and having refreshments at all the little bars along the way.....I had never seen so many "bars" along the way.... I really enjoyed exploring the country side.....we also went to Raggerty Beach Bar for the lobster fest which was delicious...
I had to follow along as I used to live in St Kitts. I always made sure my fridge was stocked up with Ting, it went well with my vodka. Back when I lived there, the cruise ship port was pretty quiet, not a lot of ships would visit, obviously things have changed. I also used to work on Cruise ships, specifically Princess Cruises. Good times!! So good to see Shipwrecks is still there, and that lookout is somewhere I used to jog up to, back before bus tour groups discovered it!
To bad you missed Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park that to bad! great view from the top. I was in St. Kitts 20 years ago or so Stayed at a place were the St. Kitts Marriott Resort is was Jack Tar. We did a rain forest trip that wasn't bad you could go to the top of that volcano! The island has changed a lot, but I would go back. We try to do new places when we go!
I've been on Carnival Cruise Lines it was Amazing!!! We sailed out of Puerto Rico and visited St. Thomas, St. Martin, Guadeloupe, Dominica and Barbados with a full day at sea on Saturday!
Well... at least Kevin got plenty of practice driving on the left side of the road... lol... did Taylor have any desire to give it a try? A cruise ship vacation?... nope... they remind us of those GEICO commercials... "Do Not Grow Up and Turn Into Your Parents"!... lol... maybe Alaska? Your trip concept was terrific... rent a car and explore the entire island... but, we felt you never quite found that "WOW" moment? You guys are a fun couple and like us could have a great time anywhere... that is what makes the vlogs so good to watch! -later...
Haha Taylor didn’t give it a try driving on left side of the road. I’d be open to a cruise to alaska as well but definitely not too excited for a carribean one I thunk they’re a bit too touristy for us. That’s right Leo, we didn’t really find a Wow moment in the island unfortunately. However I heard the hike is incredible if the clouds aren’t hovering the peak, which I’m not sure how frequent that is! Thanks for watching!
@@MathersOnTheMap I am well. I will look for the channel and forward it to you. He has a double degree in engineering and was in the CIA from what he said.
We’ve traveled on Carnival Cruise several times! We want to travel with another cruise line but with everything going on we are waiting until things settle down. It’s a bummer a lot were closed and you couldn’t visit. Looks like y’all had a great day anyway!
Enjoyed your video on St Kitts - I hope you get a chance to visit Nevis. I'm looking at some property in Frigate Bay or possibly the St. Christopher Harbor Area. Thanks for bringing me a long on your adventure
Thanks David!! We only made it to Sunshines over at Nevis, haha the killer bees kept us in one place. That’ll be live on Sunday! Best of luck with the property hunting!
Lol you guys are jokes. If Barbados is on your list of destinations, and you plan to do a full day tour of the island, I highly recommend you start at sunrise.
(15:22) Kev, if you and Taylor are doing any future cruises as first timers, definitely go for Royal Caribbean, Princess and Norwegian Cruise Line. They're one of the best. Add in Celebrity, Carnival and Holland America as well.

Celebrity is THE BEST cruise line...by FAR!!! The APEX is a fabulous ship, and the service, attention, food and everything else are TOPS! Highly recommended! :-)
I loved the video but it was sooooo frustrating that you guys kept missing places and didn't have cash on you?! The travelling attempt seemed very unprepared and very underwhelming. And it seems i can't find a good video which shows this country well.
This is a fun video but I saw, several times, driving while holding a mobile phone. This is very unsafe. In Australia, you will be very heavily fined! (E.g. approximately $759US in the state of Queensland).
