Great pattern! Q - while the 718 is one of my all time favourite hooks, I’ve always found it far too heavy wire for dries, even when heavily dressed and treated liberally w/ floatant … but assuming this stays on top for you? May try it on a 317? Beautiful tying!

I never had any trouble with these medium wire, nor heavy (I tie plenty of dries on 315) what size to you tie?
317 is also medium wire, just as 718.
419 is the only light wire hook, but I don’t trust any brand in such light wire for fast current fishing.

I’ve tied heavy dressed traveller sedge on 718’s and no way the buggers would float … but never had issues w/ dries on 317s … I agree, wrt 419 … I like fireholesticks but tried the 419 in early days but straightened too many on good fish.
