I miss working on Bass Yaks style transom motors. Great Times once you got it right!
I’ve proven they are faster than bow mounts. It just makes more sense to me

of the install to the kayak? Thats pretty simple with the newport mount. It will bolt right to the back of the Big Rig

The spot lock is going to hold your stern on location.
Meaning your going to be backwards

My understanding is that spot lock will drift with a stern mount and the NAV feature is also suboptimal from the stern. I’m not saying this to be difficult, but I’m getting the same motor and the Autoboat system shortly, it’s actually in shipping right now. I plan to do a bow mount on my fishing kayak because of information on Autoboat’s website about bow vs stern mount. I would like to hear your experience with this system on the water.

The gps sensor is what locks on to location.. Thats right on the motor shaft.
SO youll nose up to your spot. Hit lock and in a short time as the motor works to keep that sensor on the spot the bow will drift around and youll be backwards.
The only way it would work is if you could place the sensor on the bow and program the motor to know its so many feet away from the bow.
High dollar autopilots can do it and iam sure the autoboat could be programed to do it also
But spot locking via stern drive i dont see ever working well.
Bow mounted motors offer the best in maneuverability
And stern offers the best in actual propulsion.
Its just how things work.
